AVIVA Yacht – Unique $250 M Superyacht

Delivered in 2017, the AVIVA superyacht is a striking sight with its length of 98.4 meters (322.83 ft), ranking it high on the list of largest yachts worldwide .

Built by the renowned German shipyard Abeking & Rasmussen, AVIVA has been a standout in the world of luxury yachts since its inception, winning the Motor Yacht of the Year award at the World Superyacht Awards in 2018.

Mr. Lewis started his early entrepreneurial life by currency trading, enabling him to have a more thorough insight into the business world.

Making him one of the wealthiest people on the earth with an accumulated net worth of over 4.5 billion pounds; enabled him to buy many luxury cars and Aviva yacht, the 250-million-dollar beast.

AVIVA was built by the boat building company Abeking & Rasmussen , situated in Lower Saxony. Abeking & Rasmussen is a company aimed at engineering yachts, naval vessels, and cruise ships.

They were also responsible for building AVIVA’s sisters Elandess , Cloudbreak, and Excellence.

Reymond Langton Design was responsible for designing this gorgeous yacht. They are an award-winning company that prides itself on its creativity and passion with well over a decade of experience in the superyacht designing industry.

They were also responsible for creating the Serene superyacht and Nobiskrug yacht  Mogambo.

AVIVA Yacht Exterior

AVIVA’s exterior displays a sleek and modern all-blue design, distinctive among today’s superyachts. Notable outdoor facilities include a Jacuzzi, a large swimming pool, a helipad, and a spacious sundeck for relaxation and entertainment.

The yacht also boasts a collection of water toys, including jet skis, sea bobs, and inflatable slides for guests to enjoy.

Designed by Reymond Langton Design in collaboration with Toby Silverton, AVIVA’s interior offers a contemporary and luxurious aesthetic. The yacht can accommodate up to 16 guests in eight state-of-the-art suites, complemented by a crew of 35.

The owner’s suite, located on the upper deck, features an office, private lounge, and a large en suite bathroom. The remaining guest cabins, consisting of two VIP suites and five double cabins, can be found on the main deck, each outfitted with en suite facilities.

AVIVA’s standout feature is a full-size padel tennis court, located in the lower deck. The yacht also features a beach club, a spa, a gym, a swimming pool, and an elevator connecting all the decks.

Similar to her sister yachts, she is also made of steel and has a solid superstructure made out of aluminum.

Powering this 98-meter-long superyacht are twin diesel-electric MTU engines capable of outputting 3,862 horsepower.

Along with her 364,705-litre fuel tanks, she can run comfortably at a speed of 14 knots and reach a max speed of 20 knots.

AVIVA can now comfortably accommodate 16 guests and carry up to 35 crew members after being refitted twice since its launch.

The estimated cost of AVIVA was around US $150 million. The annual running costs are estimated to be between US $12 to 15 million, based on usage.

AVIVA is not currently for sale or available for charter.

The innovations in the superyacht industry are sometimes profound, oftentimes subtle and mega yacht AVIVA has examples of both: Winner of the  Boat International Superyacht Design and Innovation Awards  2018 for  Best Lifestyle Feature Design , she is the first superyacht to ever have an indoor padel tennis court, and the logistics behind this new feature have set the groundwork for future designs.

Built in 2017 for UK billionaire Joe Lewis, 98m/322ft superyacht AVIVA is the largest yacht ever produced by Abeking & Rasmussen and was built in 2017 for UK billionaire Joe Lewis, who has a fondness for naming his superyachts ‘AVIVA’, the first built by Feadship in 1998 and measured 62m/203ft in length. This is also not the first AVIVA Abeking & Rasmussen have delivered to the British billionaire, the first being 68m/223ft in length in 2007.

Reymond Langton Design created the exterior and interior styling for the current AVIVA, and although there are plenty of outdoor areas, it is clear that the focus has been placed upon the voluminous interior of 5,000 GT. The padel tennis court is her most outstanding feature and measures 20m/66ft in length, 10m/33ft wide and almost 7m/22ft in height. This technical achievement involved over 2 tons of sand to recreate the bounce, and soundproofing also came into consideration. Ceiling lighting is plentiful and there is a small, net protected lounge that can be converted into a gym.

“It is not only a lifestyle change for the owner but also for the crew as this is also the largest gym of any yacht,” said the designers at Raymond Langton Design. “The crew is encouraged to play with the owner and guests and when the court is not in use for padel, the net can be removed and the crew plays football and use other exercise equipment in the space. It is after all a sports hall.

As superyacht AVIVA is designed as a live-aboard vessel, the colour scheme is modern and practical. Warm and natural tones are used in the fabrics and leather and vibrant accents pop out from the furnishings, while glass and steel are used extensively to manipulate the light. As Joe Lewis uses AVIVA to ‘work from home’, she has excellent internet access and satellite communications, ensuring that he can keep in touch with financial developments anywhere in the world.

The exterior has a large swim platform and beach club in the stern form a large guest area beside the water, and a number of shaded and sun-exposed aft lounging areas run from the main deck up to the sundeck, which are connected by under-lit glass staircases that enhance the atmosphere on board at night. The sundeck is the centre of outdoor activity and here guests have a choice of circular sunpads or secluded sunbathing spots close to the helm station.

Her technical performance is exemplary as well: A hybrid propulsion system allows AVIVA to travel at 11 knots using electric motors, allowing her access to more sensitive natural areas due to zero emissions. At full speed, she is capable of 20 knots and research into the hull design has resulted in 20% less drag.

Un voilier de luxe de 56 mètres de long est surpris par une tempête au large de la Sicile, en Italie, et fait naufrage avec 22 personnes à bord. Sept d'entre elles perdent la vie, dont le propriétaire du bateau, l’homme d’affaires britannique Mike Lynch. Selon un proche, le milliardaire de 59 ans célébrait son récent acquittement à un procès pour fraude aux États-Unis.

Mike Lynch était le fondateur d'Autonomy, la plus grande société de logiciels du Royaume-Uni, développée à partir de ses recherches à Cambridge en 1996. En 2011, celui que l’on surnommait le « Bill Gates britannique » a vendu Autonomy à HP pour plusieurs milliards de dollars, mais la transaction a fait l’objet d’accusations de fraude. Il venait d’être acquitté en juin après une décennie de batailles juridiques.

Abeking & Rasmussen flagship yacht Aviva delivered

The 98 metre  Abeking & Rasmussen  flagship yacht  Aviva  has been delivered. AIS data shows the yacht arrived into the British port of Falmouth earlier today (May 8) after leaving Lemwerder over the weekend.

Previously known as Hull 6501, this four-deck displacement yacht was launched in January sporting exterior styling by Reymond Langton Design . This is the largest project that the studio has worked on to date, surpassing the 91 metre Lürssen yacht  Lady Lara .

Very few details are known about Aviva so far, although her steel hull is believed to support an aluminium superstructure and she was built to Lloyd’s Registry standards.

As this image shows, her curvy superstructure sports large expanses of glass hinting at a bright interior, while the hull has been finished in a vibrant blue tone. Other key features include a vertical prow and a number of cut-out sections aft, suggesting that the yard has fitted either a side-loading tender garage or a fold-out superyacht beach club . A notoriously secretive yard, Abeking & Rasmussen has not confirmed any of these details as yet.

Other projects currently under development at the German yard include the 80 metre  Abeking & Rasmussen 6502 , which is due to launch next year, as well as two further yachts around the 70 metre mark.

Durant l'été, certaines familles royales posent leurs valises dans des résidences secondaires tandis que d'autres profitent de leurs bateaux pour naviguer en mer. Frederik X, Haakon de Norvège ou encore feu Elizabeth II... Zoom sur les plus beaux yachts appartenant ou ayant appartenu à des membres de la royauté.

Depuis l'arrivée des beaux jours, les familles royales possédant des yachts profitent de voyages officiels ou privés en mer. Au mois de mai, Frederik X et son épouse, Mary de Danemark ont embarqué à bord du Dannebrog , un navire de 78 mètres de longueur, datant des années 30, pour effectuer des visites en Suède , en Norvège, aux îles Féroé puis au Groenland. Le bateau de la famille royale danoise ne sert d'ailleurs pas seulement à naviguer, car il est aussi utilisé pour des opérations de surveillance et de sauvetage en mer.

Autre monarchie a utilisé très régulièrement un yacht pour des visites officielles ou des sorties privées : la famille royale norvégienne. Baptisé le Norge, le navire de 80 mètres de long a été offert à Haakon VII de Norvège en 1948 par son peuple. Le somptueux bateau navigue en mer du printemps à l'automne. Le roi Harald V et le prince héritier Haakon organisent d'ailleurs toujours une cérémonie d’ouverture et une cérémonie de clôture de la saison de navigation. Les familles royales de Danemark et de Norvège sont les deux seules monarchies au monde à posséder des navires royaux. Ils sont d'ailleurs considérés comme des résidences officielles pour les souverains.

Le Britannia, Le Cujo... les yachts royaux les plus célèbres

Si aujourd'hui, la famille royale britannique ne possède plus de navire royal officiel, feu Elizabeth II a été l'heureuse propriétaire du Britannia . Un bateau qui lui a été offert l'année de son couronnement en 1953. Cependant, après 44 ans de bons et loyaux services, le yacht a été désaffecté et est aujourd'hui exposé à Édimbourg, en Écosse. Autre bijou des mers tristement célèbres : Le Cujo. Il s'agit du yacht de Dodi al-Fayed sur lequel Lady Diana a passé ses dernières vacances avant de décéder quelques jours plus tard dans un tragique accident de voiture à Paris . Le bateau a d'ailleurs lui aussi connu un destin tragique puisqu' il a sombré dans la méditerranée en juillet 2023 après avoir heurté un objet non identifié.

Le Dannebrog accompagne la famille royale danoise lors de leurs croisières estivales ou leurs visites à l’étranger. Construit au début des années 1930, il fait 78 mètres de longueur.

Le yacht comprend de nombreuses pièces, dont un bureau pour le roi, une salle à manger, un salon et plusieurs chambres.

Le Britannia a été construit pour feu Elizabeth II en 1953, la même année que son couronnement. Il a été désaffecté après 44 ans de service et est aujourd'hui exposé à Édimbourg.

Le Britannia mesure plus de 125,5 mètres et pèse plus de 4000 tonnes. Le navire comprend plusieurs chambres, une grande salle à manger pour les réceptions d'État et même une cave à vin !

Ce yacht appartenait à Dodi al-Fayed. Le Cujo est devenu très célèbre suite aux dernières vacances de la princesse Diana en août 1997, seulement quelques semaines avant son décès suite à un accident de voiture.

Le Cujo a d'ailleurs sombré au large de Nice après avoir heurté un objet non identifié, le 29 juillet 2023.

Naufrage du yacht de Mike Lynch en Sicile : le corps d'Hannah, 18 ans, fille du magnat britannique, a été retrouvé

Le dernier corps recherché a été retrouvé ce 23 août 2024 dans l’épave du super yacht qui a coulé ce lundi.

Les pompiers italiens ont retrouvé vendredi en milieu de journée le corps de la fille du magnat britannique de la tech Mike Lynch, dernière disparue du naufrage du yacht survenu lundi en Sicile, qui a fait sept morts au total, dont le milliardaire.

Qui sont les victimes ?

Après la découverte d'un premier corps lundi, celui du cuisinier de bord, trois hommes et trois femmes étaient portés disparus à la suite du naufrage du "Bayesian" lundi à l'aube au large de Porticello, près de Palerme. Le corps de Mike Lynch, 59 ans, a été récupéré jeudi.

Ce richissime homme d'affaires, surnommé le "Bill Gates britannique" , fêtait avec ses amis, collaborateurs et avocats, sa relaxe en juin dans un procès pour fraude aux Etats-Unis qui aurait pu lui coûter des années de prison.

Sa fille Hannah, 18 ans, féministe convaincue selon ses amis, venait de passer ses examens de fin d'année et avait obtenu une place pour étudier la littérature anglaise à l'université d'Oxford, ont rapporté les médias britanniques.

Parmi les victimes figurent Jonathan Bloomer, le président du conseil d'administration de Morgan Stanley International - une branche de la banque américaine - et de l'assureur Hiscox, ainsi que son épouse Judy, et Chris Morvillo, un avocat qui a défendu Mike Lynch dans son procès aux Etats-Unis, avec son épouse Neda.

"Une longue série d'erreurs"

Le luxueux super voilier de 56 mètres a sombré en quelques minutes lundi à l'aube après le passage soudain d'une tornade. Quinze personnes ont été sauvées, dont six passagers.

La vitesse à laquelle le yacht a coulé et le fait que les autres bateaux autour de lui n'aient pas été touchés soulèvent des questions, notamment celle de savoir si la quille lestée, qui fait contrepoids à l'imposant mât, était abaissée ou relevée au moment de la tempête.

Le patron du groupe naval The italian sea group, propriétaire du chantier naval Perini Navi qui a construit le Bayesian, a pointé du doigt l'erreur humaine.

"Tout ce qui s'est passé révèle une longue série d'erreurs. Les passagers ne devaient pas être dans les cabines, le navire ne devait pas être à l'ancre" dans ces conditions météo, a déclaré Giovanni Costantino dans une interview jeudi au Corriere della Sera.

Remontée coûteuse

Le Bayesian, propriété de sa famille Lynch, était doté d'un mât de 75 mètres, le plus haut mât de voile en aluminium au monde, selon le site internet de Charter World.

La délicate et complexe opération pour le remonter à la surface coûterait probablement quelque 15 millions d'euros et prendrait "six à huit semaines", selon le responsable qui a dirigé l'opération de récupération du navire de croisière Costa Concordia, qui a sombré au large de l'Italie en 2012.

Pour récupérer le yacht, le mât pourrait être démonté sur le fond marin et le bateau serait ensuite soulevé entier à l'aide d'une grue géante et d'une équipe de 40 plongeurs spécialisés, a expliqué le Sud-Africain Nick Sloane au quotidien La Repubblica.
