Cristiano Ronaldo: Super yacht rental world champion!
Cristiano Ronaldo ‘s for luxury yachts is not just a passing infatuation, but instead a true passion. At the end of the football season, but also in the short breaks between one match and another, Cristiano never fails to enjoy a holiday with his family on one of many magnificent charter yachts available for that occasion.
Who is Cristiano Ronaldo?
Wait, are you serious? If there really still exists someone who doesn’t know him, let’s make a brief introduction: Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most important and influential footballers in the world. Portuguese, grown up on Madeira island, this champion has won countless titles and trophies during his career, among which 5 Golden Balls and 5 Champions Leagues stand out.
In the last 10 years, his fame has been achieved and sometimes surpassed only by another footballer, his great rival, Lionel Messi.
His latest purchase:
Let’s start from the end. The last appearance in chronological order of Cristiano Ronaldo onboard a yacht took place in July 2020 when, together with Georgina Rodriguez, his current partner, and his children, he took a short vacation in the Tyrrhenian Sea between an Italian championship match and another.
Related: All the Azimut Grande yachts for charter
The difference, however, from his previous experiences lies in the fact that he didn’t rent a yacht because this time the boat was entirely owned by him.
The champion choice could only fall on one of the best models in terms of yachts: a 27-meter Azimut Grande , purchased, according to rumors, in Viareggio’s shipyards for a figure of around 6 million euros.
What about this yacht? Only the best! Built-in the Azimut-Benetti shipyards in Versilia, it has 5 cabins with 6 bathrooms and can accommodate up to 8 people. It was made of carbon fiber for a total weight of about 93 tons and is powered by two 1900 horsepower engines that can reach a maximum speed of 28 knots powered by a 9500-liter tank that guarantees a very good range.
The comfort onboard, as well as the luxury finishes and a considerable number of gadgets and water games, is guaranteed by a crew of 3.
The Portuguese champion must have been so impressed by the beauty of this yacht model probably while spending onboard it one of his vacation periods.
In fact, it was not the first time he had boarded a Benetti-Azimut Grande. Just a few weeks earlier, for example, he had posted some photos on Instagram portraying him, always with his family, aboard a 35-meter from the same brand, this time chartered in the Italian Versilia coastline.
A long list of charter yacht vacation
Before then, there were certainly many occasions in which Cristiano Ronaldo allowed himself the luxury of a charter yacht.
During summer 2019, for example, the Juventus forward spent his family vacation off the coast of Monte Carlo aboard the wonderful yacht Africa I.
A 47-meter long yacht, the Africa I was built by Benetti in 2010 and underwent a complete restyling in 2018.
Made of aluminum, it is equipped with every comfort: air conditioning, gym, Jacuzzi, Wi-Fi connection.
Onboard, it can accommodate up to 12 guests divided into six bedrooms: a master suite, four bedrooms with double beds, and a bedroom with single beds.
A 9 crew member ensures maximum comfort for all guests.
The luxurious interiors are signed by the designer Zuretti, a guarantee as splendid furnishings and elegant seating like the sofas and sun loungers
Finally, there is no shortage of leisure and entertainment facilities as a spectacular slide that reaches the pool.
Africa I has a maximum speed of 23 knots and a cruising speed of 12 for an extraordinary sailing experience.
The eternal challenge with Messi:
The rivalry with his colleague and champion Lionel Messi has always been heated both on and off the pitch, with the duo always put in competition on personal trophies and titles won, number of social media followers, and even in terms of salary.
The choice of the yacht on which they spend their holidays is certainly no exception.
An example? In 2016 they found themselves a short distance away in the sea between Ibiza and Formentera on board their respective charter yachts:
This time Cristiano Ronaldo had chosen a real jewel, the Ascari yacht, with over 36 meters in length and over 7 meters wide.
Built-in 2003 by Palmer Johnson Yacht and refitted in 2015, it can reach a maximum speed of thirty knots and a cruising speed of 22. Space onboard is not lacking and in fact, the Ascari can accommodate up to 10 guests in 4 cabins and 5 crew members.
At the same time, Lionel Messi was aboard the Seven C, a 28 meters long and just under five meters wide yacht, built-in 2003 and refitted in 2011.
The Seven C can reach a maximum speed of 22 knots and can accommodate up to ten people, as well as three crew members.
In 2018, the two found themselves even “sharing” the same charter yacht, a few weeks apart from each other, while spending their summer holidays in the Balearic archipelago.
It was the turn of the Tecnomar’s ultra-luxury yacht called Blue Jay to steal the show, a 36-meter super-equipped yacht with everything needed for the enjoyment of its 12 guests, which is available for charter right now in the Balearic Sea .

The foredeck has a novel design, allowing for sunbathing on the foredeck while the recessed bow has an outdoor lounge attached to the Master suite, protecting users’ privacy with high bulwarks reminiscent of the tall urban garden walls to be found in Italy.
The Jacuzzi on the sundeck is the perfect place to soak in the sunshine and enjoy complete privacy all day long, with sun loungers, shaded sofas and an alfresco dining table at the group’s disposal.

CRISTIANO RONALDO took his son out on his multi-million-pound yacht in Majorca to celebrate Father's Day.
Cristiano Jr, 12, was dressed in a Portugal top for the trip with his dad wearing a black cap and dark sunglasses.
The family are staying in a luxury villa, secluded from prying eyes, that sits at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains.
And they're also spending time aboard Ronaldo's lavish 88-foot long Azimut Grande , valued at £5.5million.
CR7 spent much of Sunday cruising on the vessel with friends and was snapped on deck enjoying a refreshment.
The Manchester United striker, 37, purchased the super-yacht in 2020 - it boasts five luxury cabins and six beautifully-decorated bathrooms.

Cristiano Ronaldo on holiday in Sardinia: relaxing on a yacht in Olbia
Cr7 flew to sardinia from iceland and has already been joined by the whole family.
Editorial board
With the end of the football season also in Saudi Arabia, Cristiano Ronaldo has officially kicked off the summer holidays and, like many other celebrities have already been doing for a few days, from George Clooney to Leonardo DiCaprio, also CR7 has chosen Italy and more precisely Sardinia, to relax after his first season at Al-Nassr Football Club.
Ronaldo has arrived in Sardinia
The day after the match between Portugal and Iceland, won thanks to CR7’s goal in the 89th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo boarded a private plane that took him directly to the Costa Smeralda airport in Olbia, where the famous footballer is arrived around 9 today, Wednesday 21 June. L’ arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo in Sardinia it took place in the utmost discretion.
The arrival of Georgina and the children
To welcome the 38-year-old there were three sailors who, as reported today New Sardinia will accompany him during the day on board the yacht on which Ronaldo will spend a few days relaxing with a unique view of the Costa Smeralda. The champion arrived alone, but was promptly joined by his entire family, his partner Georgina Rodriguez and their five children.
It was Georgina Rodriguez who documented, strictly on Instagram, the embrace between Ronaldo and his children with a reel shared late morning today . As can be seen from the first images, Ronaldo’s Italian holiday will not only take place on board the large yacht, but also in a dream villa in a location not yet disclosed.
CR7 and Sardinia
Cristiano Ronaldo’s love for Sardinia is nothing new, indeed it could be said that CR7 is a sort of regular on the large Italian island. In the 2007/2008 season, after the move from Manchester to Real Madrid, Ronaldo chose Sardinia for a relaxing holiday and he also returned there during the 2018/2019 season, when he said goodbye to Real Madrid and moved to Juventus. His yacht is one almost permanent presence in the Maddalena archipelago and also for this 2023 Ronaldo has decided not to interrupt the tradition.

As one of the most popular destinations for yacht charters in the West Mediterranean, there should be plenty to choose from when it comes to crewed yachts for charter in Sardinia. If you’re unsure about whether you want to book a motor yacht or a sailing yacht for your luxury getaway, there are a few things you should consider first.
Motor Yacht Charters in Sardinia
Whether you are interested in a small or large motor yacht, or even a sleek and sporty model , you should find a Sardinia luxury charter rental that will more than meet your expectations. With a crewed motor yacht you can truly relax, allowing pure escapism as you marvel at Sardinia’s dramatic coastline from the comfort of your vessel.
Indeed, the crystal clear waters here are perfect for diving into from the aft deck of your motor yacht, where you can take to the sea on the yacht’s myriad toys and accessories, including scuba diving top dive spots found in abundance in this region. Alternatively, you can take a tender ashore to explore the island’s ancient artifacts as well as sampling the local cuisine and wines.
There are plenty of marinas in Sardinia catering to yachts of all sizes, with plenty of sheltered and tranquil anchorage spots to choose from peppered along its coastline and around the numerous islands and islets.
Sailing Yacht Charters in Sardinia
The sailing conditions in Sardinia promise some of the finest in the world, with renowned sailing superyacht regattas taking place each year, including the celebrated Loro Piana Regatta which runs annually at the end of May.
The winds found along the narrow passage of the Bonifacio strait, one of the largest Natural marine reserves in the Mediterranean , promise exhilarating racing conditions where you can unleash the power of the sails and leave the engine gears in neutral. Experience sailing at its finest, where the wind is the master and the only sounds are the billowing sails and the rush of water against the hull. Experience the thrill as your sailing yacht carves through the waves against a backdrop of towering chalk cliffs and diamond-speckled seas.
There are plenty of easy anchorage spots ideal for sailing yachts, as well as numerous marinas offering plentiful overnight slips.
With so many options available, there’s something to suit every type of budget. For convenience we have listed the average prices for motor yacht and sailing yacht charters in Sardinia below;
- For motor yacht rentals in Sardinia, prices can range from $32,405 to $1.7m per week, plus expenses
- For luxury sailing yacht rentals in Sardinia, prices can go from $28,198 to $546,804 weekly, plus expenses
The optimal times for yacht charters in Sardina’s turquoise-clear waters are the shoulder months of May/June and September/October. During this time, you can still enjoy beautiful warm weather, with the later months offering the warmest swimming temperatures. Sardinia’s peak season is July and August, so expect both higher charter fees and packed marinas in these months.
related articles
Most Sardinia yacht charters begin in the popular superyacht marina of Porto Cervo in the north west of the island or nearby Porto Rotondo, a slightly quieter marina compared to its illustrious neighbor. After a short stay here, popular charter itineraries tend to make a beeline north to the beautiful Maddalena Islands where the yacht can spend a day or two in a pretty sheltered anchorage while you and your guests take to the Carribean-blue waters for a spot of diving and snorkeling.
From here, the world’s your oyster. Sardinia has numerous must-see destinations and you will be hard-pushed to fit them all in. From the lush archipelagos of the north to the wild, untamed beaches found in the south west of the island, and from the glamorous superyacht havens on the north east coast where you can indulge your every whim to the rich historical treasures found in the south, you’ll be spoiled for choice.
Another popular option is to set off from the Amalfi Coast on Italy’s mainland or Corsica in the north and then cruise down through the Bonifacio Strait. It’s simple enough to begin your superyacht vacation in a neighboring country before heading to Sardinia. For more advice please speak to your yacht charter broker .
Sample itineraries
Most yacht charters tend to finish in Porto Cervo or Porto Rotondo. As well as the vibrant superyacht lifestyle, these places also offer their own bevy of beautiful beaches and scenic beauty, making these the perfect spots to end your memorable Sardina luxury yacht charter. Alternatively, for longer charters you can finish up in one of the neighboring destinations mentioned above. Speak with your yacht charter broker who can advise you further.
- Marina di Porto Cervo - A well-protected marina with its renowned eponymous village offering a prime superyacht hub replete with numerous amenities and attractions. This marina is home to an impressive 700 slips and can accommodate yachts up to 100 meters in length
- Marina di Olbia - Affording beautiful views of the Golf of Olbia, this charming sheltered marina located on Sardinia’s north-west coast offers plentiful cafes and restaurants all within a short walk from the port. With 270 slips, the marina can accommodate yachts up to 80 meters LOA.
- Marina di Porto Rotondo - Also located in Olbia, this round-shaped marina enjoys an impeccable reputation amongst its international Jet Set clientele, with bespoke VIP services and luxury hotels adding to the allure. Porto Rotondo can host yachts up to 80 meters in length and has 652 yacht slips available.
- Portus Karalis Cagliari - Only a champagne cork’s pop away from the Sardinian capital’s town center, this marina is ideal for those looking to explore the region’s historic treasures, glorious beaches and hidden gems. Close to all major transport links, it offers 140 slips for yachts up to 100 meters in length.
- Porto di Alghero - located in the beautiful province of Sassari, this destination is renowned for its beautiful emerald waters and secluded beaches making it a prime stop-off for those looking for an idyllic retreat away from the main hubs. This marina can accommodate 380 yachts with slips available for vessels up to 50 meters LOA.
- Cala Luna - A beautiful curve of sand with magical caves and astonishing clear blue waters abound in this paradisiacal setting. It does get busy in the peak summer months, but after 7pm all the crowds depart, leaving a stunning anchorage to park the yacht and watch the setting sun, cocktail in hand.
- Passagio della Pelosa - Often likened to a lagoon, this beautiful sheltered cove is considered by some as one of the best anchorages in the Mediterranean, where charterers will be dazzled by the Caribbean-blue waters reflecting the sandy seabed below. This anchorage is an ideal jumping off point to the protected marine reserve of Stintino, with convenient restaurants and shops located nearby in the village and marina.
- Porto Liscia - A pretty peninsula of golden sand beach with cobalt-blue waters and scenic views. The anchorage is well protected and is a popular hangout for superyachts, which means it can get busy.
- Spiaggia di Campulongu - Situated on Sardinia’s south coast, a short hop from Cagliari, this anchorage offers a beautiful calm bay with lots of space and clear waters, perfect for swimming and snorkeling from the back of the yacht. There is a convenient marina close by with all the usual amenities, as well as a short walk into town.
With its A-lister appeal, rich cultural history and bevy of world-class beaches, Sardinia is one of the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean. Therefore, we advise you to book your yacht charter well in advance of your trip to secure your perfect yacht on your preferred dates. If you leave it too late, the selection of yachts at your disposal will be reduced and you may not be able to explore the destinations you have your heart set on. Plus, finding dates when everyone in your charter party is available can be tricky; the longer you leave it, the more challenging it will be.
Your yacht charter broker will also need plenty of time to tailor an itinerary to suit you, and enough time to book ahead for the nights you wish to spend in marinas. We recommend booking up to 3 months in advance to give your broker the optimum time to organize everything down to the last detail.

Most Sardinia yacht charters begin in the glamorous superyacht marina of Porto Cervo in the north west of the island, with popular charter itineraries including the breathtaking Maddalena archipelago, the pretty sheltered anchorages and charming villages found along Sardinia's east coast and the island's capital Cagliari, awash with historical treasures and rich cultural heritage.
The island is also renowned for its protected marine reserves and beautiful clear waters where snorkeling and diving are the favorite activities for yacht charters. where the yacht can spend a day or two in a pretty sheltered anchorage while you and your guests take to the Carribean-blue waters for a spot of diving and snorkeling.
Another option is to begin your yacht charter on Italy's west coast only a short hop across the Tyrrhenian Sea. Alternatively, charters can begin on the spellbindingly rugged island of Croatia in the north, separated only by a narrow strait famed for its sailing.
Once you have decided on your perfect yacht, your yacht broker will then draw up the necessary contract; a legally binding agreement between you and the owner of the yacht. At this point, based on the type of contract, you will be required to pay 50% of the cost of the yacht up front, with an additional 25-30% of this base rate to cover additional expenses you and your guests are expected to incur whilst on charter.

Motor yacht charter vs sailing yacht charters in Sardinia
Choosing between a crewed motor yacht and a sailing yacht for your Sardinia adventure depends on your preferences, budget, and the experience you’re seeking.
Motor yachts offer several advantages that appeal to many travellers. They provide greater speed and agility, allowing you to cover more distance along Sardinia’s coastline in less time. With their luxurious amenities, spacious interiors, and onboard chefs, motor yachts offer unparalleled comfort and indulgence. Their stability in choppy waters and ease of handling make them suitable for guests who prioritize a smooth sailing experience or have limited sailing experience.
On the other hand, sailing yachts offer a more authentic and serene sailing experience. With their reliance on wind power rather than engines, sailing yachts provide a quieter and more intimate atmosphere, perfect for relaxation and enjoying the natural beauty of Sardinia’s coastline. They evoke a sense of nostalgia and romance with their classic designs and billowing sails, appealing to travelers seeking an authentic maritime adventure. Additionally, eco-conscious travellers often prefer sailing vessels due to their lower environmental impact and reliance on renewable energy.
Ultimately, choosing a motor yacht or a sailing yacht for your Sardinia adventure depends on your preferences and desired level of comfort. Both options offer their own unique advantages and can provide an unforgettable journey along the breathtaking coastline of Sardinia.

Sardinia is an island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, a part of the Mediterranean Sea, southwest of the Italian Peninsula and just south of the French island of Corsica. It is an autonomous region of Italy and boasts over 1,850 kilometers (1,150 miles) of coastline, featuring stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and dramatic cliffs. Sardinia is surrounded by smaller islands and archipelagos, such as the Maddalena Archipelago to the northeast, offering additional exploration and discovery opportunities on your own private yacht charter. These islands often have secluded beaches, hidden caves, and charming villages to explore.
Sardinia’s coastline boasts miles of superlative beaches and secret grottos only accessible by boat. Porto Cervo is at the region’s main center, home to Costa Smeralda. This area has become increasingly desirable for luxury yacht charters because of its remote location and exclusive atmosphere. South of Porto Cervo, you will find forested mountains, medieval villages, and stunning seas. Another recommended site is La Maddalena National Park, a marine reserve that offers opportunities for secluded anchorages and overnight stays. Spotted with seven main islands and many islets, La Maddalena offers crystal-clear waters for an afternoon snorkel and access to the beautiful pink sand beach named Pink of Budelli. Sardinia’s coastal cuisine differs from inland; the seafood base and pasta dishes pay homage to the sea and further contribute to the laidback yet luxurious atmosphere of the island.
When is the best time to go on a Sardinia yacht charter?
The best time to hop on a yacht and explore Sardinia is usually in the summer, from June to September. During this time, the weather is warm and sunny, perfect for soaking up the sun and diving into the crystal-clear waters. Remember that summer is popular with yacht charter guests and tourists, so planning ahead and booking early is advisable. Spring (April to May) and autumn (October to November) are great options for Charter guests who prefer fewer crowds. You’ll still get lovely weather and plenty of chances to enjoy the island’s beauty without the hustle and bustle of peak season. So, whether you’re aiming for exciting summer adventures or a more relaxed experience, there’s a perfect time for a Sardinia yacht adventure to fit your preferences.

7 days on a superyacht in Sardinia
Porto cervo.
Sardinia and her surrounding islands host some of the most breathtaking beaches and unforgettable coastlines in the Mediterranean .
There are top beachesin Sardinia , which can only be reached by boat as well as popular VIP hot-spots. A Sardinia superyacht charter or private cruise offers the best of nature’s tranquility as well as explosions of outrageous glamour and fun.
Day 1: Porto Cervo
Porto Cervo is the centre of active daily life on the Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast) and it’s easily the best place for shopping. Departing from here, you can relax on board while you cruise the coastline in the morning and then golf enthusiasts can head to the 18-hole Pevero golf course.
Horizontally-based pursuits include spa treatments that can be arranged on board or at one of the five-star luxury resorts around the corner. Hotel Cala di Volpe and the bay itself is popular for lazy days that can be followed by late afternoon cocktails and shopping.
Porto Cervo is also a top Mediterranean party destination . Those anxious to rub shoulders with fellow ‘glamourati’ can find live music at numerous outdoor beach clubs like Phi Beach at Baia Sardinia, or can dine and dance at the famous Billionaire restaurant, a 10-minute drive from Porto Cervo.

Porto Rotondo
Porto Rotondo, the resort village just south of Porto Cervo is best known for its private beaches. Here small bijou beaches are typical of this stretch of coast, which is characterized by numerous tiny coves good for walking or admiring from the deck. Porto Rotondo is much more laid back than the more up-market Porto Cervo and for those who prefer to be unrecognized this may be just the right place.
Hotel Sporting has an acclaimed restaurant offering Mediterranean cuisine featuring local fish and seafood dishes and a good wine list. The dining room is impressive with a large terrace overlooking the harbour.

Cala di Luna
Cruising southeast you’ll reach Cala di Luna, one of the best beaches in the Mediterranean it is so beautiful it looks almost unreal. While the yacht is anchored offshore, you can relax and enjoy scenic views of limestone cliffs covered by blooming oleanders. In the early morning the sun rises from the sea just in front of the beach and its rays penetrate deep into the large caves that open onto the narrow shoreline.
Nearby Cala Goloritzè is a ‘show- stopper’ with its fantasy of eroded rocks that tower sculpture-like over clear waters. You can immerse yourself in nature and explore this wild coastline.

Cagliari, in the south of the island, has been Sardinia’s capital since at least Roman times and still its biggest town. It’s ugly in parts and sprawling but the ‘old town’ known as Il Castello is a charming hilly labyrinth of sandy-coloured medieval buildings in various states of disrepair. This port city was founded in the seventh century BC by the Phoenicians.
There’s no better way to see Cagliari than from the sailor’s vantage point, by approaching the city from the sea. Between the modern harbour and castle lies Cagliari’s marina in the old harbour district. The town has an archaeology museum that houses a Nuraghic collection – Nuraghi are the 4,000-year-old stone defensive structures unique to the island.
Eight thousand Nuraghi can be found throughout the island and are all that remain of the original 30,000. The main shopping street, Via Roma, is replete with cool, shaded arcades; more shopping can be found on Via Manu.

Sardinia’s Southwest coast
The coastline from the island’s most southern point to midway up the west coast is scattered with coves and small villages. Cruising this stretch, you will pass the island of Sant’ Antioco, the largest of the smaller Sardinian islands connected to the motherland by an artificial isthmus, and San Pietro-Punto di Cala Fico – here the seas are deep, the cliffs high and the countryside wild and rugged.
When natural beauty loses its appeal, some international-styled fun can be found at Forte Village Le Dune – a resort that accommodates the whims of all ages with luxury services mixed with family fun. The Thaermae de Forte recently qualified as a Leading Spa of the World; Leisure Land includes go-karting, bowling and ice rink facilities (even in summer) and a children’s club offers fun for kids. Nearby, Le Dune, the two highest sand dunes in Italy, flow like lava into the sea and are worth a peak either by air or boat.

In the northwest of Sardinia, the city of Alghero is a historic town with a rich past and a cityscape that reflects the area’s early days. The predominant flavour here is Catalan, owing to wholesale Hispanicization. The traces are still strong in the old town with its flamboyant churches, wrought-iron balconies and narrow cobbled streets named in both Italian and Catalan. Guests can stroll along the old fort’s walkways overlooking the sea.
The most impressive part of this historic town is the Grotta di Nettuno with fantastical stalagmites and stalactites. The vineyards here are also worth a visit . Wine tasting and dinner out on the town could be an option.

La Maddalena
La Maddalena island on Sardinia’s northern tip offers a large variety of sandy and rocky beaches. The Archipelago of Maddalena is a natural oasis, surrounded by a warm, transparent sea. It was declared a National Park in 1996 and is a favourite destination among superyacht owners . La Maddalena is the only inhabited island in the archipelago, which also includes six others: Spargi, Razzoli, Budelli, Santa Maria, Capera and Santo Stefano.
