Measuring 49.50 m (162' 5"), the Feadship charter yacht HIGHLANDER ( ex The Highlander) was originally launched in 1986 for Malcolm Forbes and, thanks to her distinct green hull, represents one of the most instantly recognizable superyachts around the world. Superyacht HIGHLANDER received a refit in 2021 and accommodates up to 12 charter guests in 7 deluxe staterooms and has an attentive, professional crew of 11.

NOTABLE FEATURES for HIGHLANDER: Bespoke elegant interior decor ~ On deck master stateroom ~ Excellent exterior living ~ Large swim platform ~ Vast assortment of water toys ~ Stabilizers ~ WiFi ~ Gym equipment ~ Jacuzzi

Originally, the luxury yacht HIGHLANDER was built with a steel hull in order to suit the need for long-range cruising to destinations such as China, Alaska or Bora Bora. Her original layout included a large reception and vast conference areas, allowing Forbes to entertain countless dignitaries, heads of state and business leaders in supreme style.

After more than a quarter of a century, The Highlander yacht was offered for sale. In 2014 she was re-launched following an extensive refit by Derecktor. HIGHLANDER’s profile was modernized taking advantage of her representative angular lines originally designed by Bannenberg. Spaces were adjusted to suit the needs of her new Owners, their family and charter guests.

The enormous refit project included upgrading and modernizing all the mechanics while extending the stern by 12 feet to create a contemporary transom and accommodate a lifting transformer platform. Charter yacht HIGHLANDER’s top deck was also extended forward, creating an excellent al fresco relaxation area.

In 2021 the yacht received a further refit, featuring a beautiful interior, which open interior spaces to play to the strengths of the vessel as an unparalleled charter yacht.

Quick Enquiry

'...total originality in yacht design has become more difficult to attain following Jon Bannenberg’s masterful levels of creative daring.' - “I don’t want to lead everything back to my dad — but it’s well known and accepted that, whether it’s his big round windows, or certain lines, or a way of treating wings on a superstructure, they all inspired many people and I think that’s fair game. I think all people’s design processes, whether subliminal or not, are recalling something — whether it’s something that’s stirred, or triggered something, or sparked an idea, or an unintentional homage to someone.” - Dickie Bannenberg talks of yacht design and his father Jon Bannenberg's groundbreaking work.

Motor yacht HIGHLANDER stands out as one of the most iconic yachts and a true masterpiece. Crafted in 1986 by the renowned Dutch shipyard Feadship, it was meticulously tailored to the highest standards and conceived by Jon Bannenberg, the pioneer of contemporary yacht design, for the esteemed publisher Malcolm Forbes.

In 2014, this legendary yacht underwent a comprehensive refit and redesign, elevating its aesthetics to contemporary excellence. HIGHLANDER seamlessly melds Malcolm Forbes's unique character with Jon Bannenberg's groundbreaking design. Its towering, angular hull profile, its glass-encased Skylounge, and its raised bow were decades ahead of their time. It was purposefully customized for opulent entertainment and luxurious transatlantic voyages, boasting unparalleled grace and allure on its decks.

HIGHLANDER was meticulously designed for relaxation and amusement, offering an impressive array of amenities. The main salon welcomes guests with plush seating areas, a majestic piano, and a formal dining table accommodating up to 12 guests. Meanwhile, the upper deck's Sky Lounge presents a more relaxed atmosphere, complete with a bar, lounge seating, and a state-of-the-art home theater system.

Outside, HIGHLANDER's expansive decks provide ample space for sunbathing, socializing, and savoring breathtaking vistas. The upper deck is adorned with a Jacuzzi, wet bar, and a shaded dining area, while the main deck boasts an alfresco dining area and comfortable seating alcoves. For those seeking adventure, the yacht offers an array of water toys, including jet skis, kayaks, paddleboards, and more.

The top deck of HIGHLANDER has been recently extended forward, featuring newly integrated seating, sunbeds, and a bar. Additionally, a spacious Jacuzzi now overlooks the transparent ceiling of the Skylounge. The middle deck offers an expansive sunbathing area, perfect for indulging in a late afternoon nap beneath the warm sun.

Plan

Peter acquired many of his maritime skills at an early age while sailing and maintaining boats with family and friends in the North Eastern U.S. After college, Peter moved to the mountains of New Hampshire but couldn’t ignore his urge to try to make a living at sea. He attended the Chapman School of Seamanship in Florida in 1981, and upon graduation, began his career aboard a 141’ Feadship bound for Europe. Since then, Peter has held almost every crew position on yachts around the world, eventually becoming a captain for the first time in 1989. Peter has worked extensively on boats in The United States, the Bahamas, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean as both Mate and Captain, and was 1st Officer on board a 190’ Feadship during a circumnavigation in the mid-1990’s. He hopes that his experience, his excellent crew and the beautiful yacht Highlander can all help contribute to making this your best holiday ever!

Most expenses are deducted from an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), a fund that is added on top of the charter price. The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. The APA is based on the price of the yacht and ranges from 15% (crewed sailing yachts) to 30% (motor yachts with higher fuel consumption). You can actively control these expenses in your preference sheet (local vs. imported beverages) and by choice of itinerary (distances traveled). The remainder of the APA is returned after charter.">Price Terms: Plus Expenses
