Departing from either Westminster or Festival Piers in Central London, our twin-decked and heated cruise boats offer outside viewing areas for a breath of fresh air or that perfect group photo beneath the iconic Tower Bridge. Dance the night away to the latest chart classics played by our resident DJ before taking in the sights of London's major landmarks as we sail under the iconic bridges towards the Docklands, Greenwich, and beyond.

Disco tickets include a buffet featuring a chicken supper, with options available for dietary requirements and vegetarian meals upon request. Advance notice is required for special dietary needs. Our fully equipped vessels feature shared seating areas and a fully stocked bar offering competitive prices comparable to local London pub rates. We can provide Vegetarian or Vegan options, these must be pre-ordered at the time of booking.

Unfortunately we are unable to cater for any other special dietary requirements on this cruise.

We do not guarantee that products are free from nuts or traces of nuts.

We use a variety of boats with capacities ranging from 100 – 250 guests. All boats have a large dance floor, at least 1 fully licensed bar and an outside deck. Some also have quieter areas (usually on the lower decks) where you can take a breather and rest the feet.

This is a nightclub style cruise and seating is limited and not guaranteed.

The cruise runs to a very strict timetable and unfortunately we cannot wait for any late arrivals.

It is your responsibility to arrive at the pier in plenty of time for your cruise to avoid any disappointment.

Please be advised that once the boat departs, it cannot return to the pier to collect passengers, and refunds will not be offered in such circumstances.

Face masks must be worn at the pier.

Our Thames Evening Disco Cruise operates throughout the year, leaving from Westminster or Festival Piers in Central London. All of our Cruise Boats are twinned decked and have outside viewing areas. We have heating on both levels for the chillier evenings so bring a jacket if you wish to be on the topside, else the heating is nice and toasty inside. Why not step outside for a breath of fresh air, or for that perfect group photo beneath the famous Tower Bridge, before stepping back inside to dance the night away to the latest chart classics played by our resident DJ. All Cruise Boats are maintained to the highest standard and are fully equipped, feature shared seating areas, and disco tickets include a chicken supper meal. Dietary requirements and vegetarian meals catered for on request. Please let us know in advance of your booking day for these special dietary requirements.

The route of this cruise passes through all the major sights of London and sails under the iconic Bridges outward bound towards the London and Tower Bridge, through to the Docklands Greenwich and beyond. These cruises are great for groups and couples alike with a fully stocked bar at local London pub rates. Enjoy a cold beer or wine as you cruise past Londons renowned points of interest. Our Disco will have you tapping your feet and shuffling your arms, we know what it takes to make a great party on the Thames happen.

All our boats have heated lounges with panoramic windows in addition to open air observation decks, so it doesn’t matter what the weather’s doing, your guests will always be comfortable. And our staff will always greet you with a smile!

We are licensed to operate between Kew and Woolwich. So wherever you’re based, or wherever you want to get the party started, we’ll meet you there.

On request, we can also go east as far as Gravesend. Please contact us for more information.

We are happy to do a return journey, call at more than one pier to pick up guests, or take your entire party one way. So if, for example, you would like to take your group from Chelsea to an event at the 02, without getting stuck in traffic, hire one of our boats and start the party early!

Setting sail in 1967, we're proud to be London's ORIGINAL organiser of the ticketed boat party. Launching on the London party scene as the 'Riverboat Shuffle', it went on to became the 'Riverboat Disco Cruise' , then the 'Thames Party Boat Cruise'.  In 2019 we re-branded as the ' ORIGINAL' London Boat Party to highlight our credibility and history as London's No. 1 boat party.   Regretfully there are some Pirates out there who have muddied the water, with inaccurate claims, subsequently making it misleading and confusing for the customer who is seeking confidence making a booking. Whilst our company name has changed with the business' growth, from 'Floating Enterprises' to 'Mainstream Leisure' and now to 'Thames Boat Cruises & Events', we've stayed consistent to our values' offering simplicity through excellent customer service and an unrivaled value for money party.  Although, we can't offer 1973's price of £1.40pp! There's no Pirates 'ere! We appreciate that planning a party can be stressful and  hard work; whether it's a Hen Party, Stag Do, Birthday Party or Office Party. Asking people you may have never met to part with their money or commit can be tough, so we reward designated party planners with a free Organiser's ticket. Consider this a 'thank you' for all your efforts! We also offer flexible payment options and group discounts, all with the view of making the booking process 'plain sailing'! And if you’ve seen a similar cruise on another website,  you probably have. We have numerous party planning Agents and Suppliers that trust us with their groups. So even if you don’t book with us directly, there’s a likelihood that we’ll still be welcoming you aboard our ship.

The 6 best party cruises on the high seas, from sun-deck soirees to disco dance-offs

Whether you're a joiner who loves a themed shindig, a sucker for a family promenade parade, a fan of high-class ballroom dancing or a college student who enjoys a raging kegger, there's a line to fit your cruise party style.

If you're searching for a raucous atmosphere with lots of drinking and dancing into the wee hours of the morning, you'll do best on short sailings (two to four days) out of Florida or southern California. Choose a time when primary schools are in session for a more adult rather than family-focused vibe on board. College spring break weeks are often the ultimate party cruises.

If you're looking for a different kind of party — perhaps something more refined or family-friendly — which cruise line you choose is likely more important than the length of the voyage or the departure port.

Here's my list of the best party cruise lines, whether you want to drop it low or raise the roof.

Margaritaville at Sea: Best for budget bashes

If you're short on time, cash or both, Margaritaville at Sea — which operates just one ship, Margaritaville at Sea Paradise — is the ideal party cruise ship line. Each sailing is just two nights, and the ship runs back and forth between the Port of Palm Beach in Florida and Freeport in the Bahamas.

Because most passengers seek out the ship for a quick getaway where they can let loose during a couple of days off from work, they're often in the mood to party. (After all, it's 5 o'clock somewhere.)

You'll find pool deck dance parties, Jimmy Buffett-themed nightly shows and several bars and lounges on board. The main lounge, Euphoria, is where you can get your boogie on after hours.

To be clear, the ship is more than 30 years old, so you won't be in the lap of luxury on one of these sailings. However, the pricing is great for cruisers on tight budgets . Fares start from $299 for two people for an ocean-view cabin — just $75 per person, per night (not including taxes or port fees). You'd be hard-pressed to find land-based accommodations for that little, and Margaritaville's fares also include meals and entertainment. The best prices are offered midweek.

Want to make the festivities last a bit longer? You can tack on a two-night pre- or post-cruise stay at Margaritaville in Orlando, or book a stay of two, four or six nights at a resort in Freeport before cruising back to Florida.

Virgin Voyages: Best for trendy parties

Ain't no party like a Richard Branson cruise ship party, and there are plenty of them on Virgin Voyages ' ships. When the business mogul signed his name to the cruise line, it was a given that the vessels would be fresh, trendy and ready to rock.

A mix of rockstar chic and drag queen glam, a cruise with Virgin feels like one long fever dream, albeit a pleasant one. All ships are for adults only.

Passengers can expect risqué entertainment, including lounge singer-style performances; late-night parties, notably Scarlet Night, where everyone is encouraged to dress in red for a giant poolside rave; and wacky events like scavenger hunts and secret below-deck tours that take you for tipples in the crew bar after the sun sets.

What's most refreshing about Virgin's take on cruising is its "come as you are" attitude. On a recent sailing, I saw crew — men and women — dressed as merpeople, passengers who decided to wear tutus to dinner (and they weren't even a little bit out of place doing so), and singers and dancers of all shapes, sizes and ethnicities.

Virgin Voyages' ships will give you music festival vibes at sea — but with much better accommodations and fellow guests who have actually showered. (Body glitter, glow-in-the-dark clothing and fairy wings are all encouraged.)

Carnival Cruise Line: Best party drinks

If you prefer to enjoy parties with an adult beverage in hand, a Carnival cruise is worth your consideration. Its mixed drinks are some of the tastiest and most creative in the industry, including specialty concoctions that change color or which are topped with poppable smoke bubbles.

My favorites? Try the Cucumber Sunrise (vodka, lime juice, watermelon syrup, orange juice and muddled cucumber) at the Alchemy bar on nearly any Carnival ship or the Crystal Ball (tequila, Green Chartreuse, agave nectar and lime) at the Fortune Teller bar on Mardi Gras.

One downside is that the drinks can be pricey. If you plan to consume a lot of alcohol, you might want to consider one of the line's beverage packages , which run from $60-65 per person, per day. At that rate, you'd have to drink roughly six cocktails per day to make it worth the cost, and if you purchase the package, anyone else in your cabin who's 21 or older will have to do the same.

Like Margaritaville at Sea, the line offers affordable sailings, but it has a larger fleet of ships from which to choose — some of the best party cruise ships afloat. Also like Margaritaville at Sea, its shorter sailings tend to draw a more party-hardy crowd, so keep that in mind as you determine the level of shenanigans you prefer when you're having a good time.

MSC Cruises: Best for late-night parties

Are you someone who likes to party all night and sleep in the next day? MSC Cruises is a great cruise line for doing just that, especially if you're sailing on one of its Europe-based ships. (On a recent U.S.-based sailing, the club was dead before midnight, but the casino and its bar were open until well after I went to bed.)

Every vessel has a host of bars and lounges, but you'll want to make your way to the onboard nightclub, where DJs play music until well after 2 a.m., as long as there's a crowd.

Themed parties include white parties, where all passengers are encouraged to wear white, and snow parties, where the crew blasts fake snow (read: foam) onto the pool deck as passengers dance.

If you also want to party ashore, look for Caribbean itineraries that offer overnights at the line's private island, Ocean Cay Marine Reserve . After the sun sets, the body of the island's lighthouse illuminates with LED lights to create a spectacular show accompanied by a shoreside beach party.

Don't worry if you feel tired or hung over the next day. In true Italian fashion — it's a Mediterranean line, after all — the coffee is superb. Every bar has a fancy machine that can make whatever your caffeine-starved heart desires: espresso, Americano, cappuccino, latte, mocha and more. Note that specialty coffee costs extra if you don't have a beverage package.

Royal Caribbean: Best for family-friendly parties

Royal Caribbean is one of the most family-friendly cruise lines sailing the seas. Although the line's ships offer plenty of adult activities on board — late-night clubbing, adults-only hot tubbing and 18+ scavenger hunts — they also schedule plenty of parties for kids and families to enjoy together.

For example, every ship that's debuted since 1999 features an indoor promenade, lined with shops and restaurants, that serves as the venue for special performances. For years, Royal Caribbean's promenade parades included characters from "Shrek" and "Madagascar" as part of the line's former partnership with DreamWorks.

Now, the promenade shows feature members of the onboard entertainment staff performing well-known hits, such as the Beatles' "Yellow Submarine," while dressed in costumes. Pirate ships and other props make the experience a fantastic one for all age groups but definitely for children.

Royal Caribbean also scores off the charts in terms of kids club offerings. In addition to a battery of supervised daily activities, the staff also organizes nighttime events, including dance parties, where kids can get their groove on with new friends while enjoying mocktails.

If that isn't enough, the line hosts several theme nights, which encourage passengers to dress up. Held on sailings of four nights or longer, these gatherings, which are appropriate for all ages, might be themed as masquerade, country western, toga or decade-specific ('50s, '60s, '70s, '80s) parties.

Cunard Line: Best for high-class hootenannies

If animated characters, twerking and loud, pulsating music aren't your thing, you might prefer a sailing on one of Cunard 's classic, nautically styled vessels.

On Queen Mary 2, for example, you can partake in ballroom dance classes, where you'll learn to cut a rug with the best of them.

At night, take your newfound (or, perhaps, well-worn) skills back to the ballroom, where a live band plays as cruisers dance classic styles like waltz, foxtrot and swing — often in their most swanky attire. Cunard is one of the few remaining cruise lines that still has formal nights .

On a recent sailing, people nearly three times my age were up dancing until well after 2 a.m. (Seriously, a 103-year-old WWII veteran showed me up on the dance floor several nights in a row.)

During the day, when you're not honing your fancy footwork, the ballroom is used for another more sedentary type of party: afternoon tea. You won't want to miss the pastries and finger sandwiches served by white-gloved waiters. The scones and clotted cream are a party for your tastebuds.

Bottom line

Whether your idea of a party includes loud, late-night debauchery with plenty of drinks or a more laid-back gathering where passengers sip tea in a formal ballroom, there's a cruise that will allow you to cut loose in whichever way you prefer. Your preferences are, ultimately, what determine the best party cruise line for you.

Choose shorter, less expensive sailings for a more raucous experience; select a longer, pricier voyage if you're looking for understated celebrations. Either way, you're sure to have a great time.

Sparks Fly Between Two Happy Campers at an Alumni Weekend

Anna Bessendorf and Jason Goldberg attended the same summer camp in the Berkshires as adolescents, but they didn’t meet until years later. They pinky-swore not to be strangers.

The objective of alumni weekend for Camp Ramah in the Berkshires, based in Wingdale, N.Y., is “to create Jewish marriages and matches,” said Anna Claire Bessendorf, a former camper. And indeed, that’s how it worked out for her.

Ms. Bessendorf, who was 22 then, attended the reunion over Labor Day weekend in 2015, and on Friday night met Jason Seth Goldberg, who was 25. They hadn’t known each other as campers — they later realized Mr. Goldberg’s older sister, Carrie Goldberg, was Ms. Bessendorf’s counselor the summer of 2006 — but fell into easy conversation. Separating to go back to their friends, they pinky-swore they wouldn’t be strangers the next day.

Spotting each other at a keg party on Saturday night, Mr. Goldberg asked if she’d like to take a walk to the water fountain, a technique they both remembered from teenage days. “She called me out on it immediately: ‘Such a camp boy move,’” he said, laughing. “I loved being called out. I was like, all right, this girl’s got personality.”

The two made their way to the property’s most romantic spot, a deck overlooking Lake Ellis, where they shared their first kiss. “Having grown up at camp, that’s kind of the romantic dream,” Ms. Bessendorf said. “To have had my first kiss with my husband on the sun deck really brings it full circle.”

Both were living in Manhattan at the time, so they met up later that week for a stroll on the Battery Park City Esplanade. They fell in love on their second date, Ms. Bessendorf said, which began at a friend’s birthday party on a boat where they only spoke with each other. From there the conversation continued back on the Esplanade, then they grabbed drinks, then dinner, and finally wound up at a “dingy” club on the Lower East Side to see Mr. Goldberg’s friend’s band perform.

The date lasted 13 hours. “We just talked and talked, and we didn’t want to leave each other,” she said.

When they first started dating, Ms. Bessendorf resisted getting serious. “I wasn’t quite ready to get into the relationship that would lead to marriage at 22, but I knew that Jason was end game,” she said.

Both were building their careers. Ms. Bessendorf, 31, who received a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and public health from Brandeis University and a master’s degree in public and nonprofit management from N.Y.U., worked for the New York City government, where she worked in the mayor’s office and Department of Consumer Affairs, now known as the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection. Mr. Goldberg, 34, who has a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Maryland, dove into television production, working on unscripted shows like “Beat Bobby Flay.”

Yet when the pair were spending an evening with Mr. Goldberg’s sister, the former camp counselor, in December 2015, Ms. Bessendorf prompted him to use the title of girlfriend.

In July 2020, they moved in together in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Ms. Bessendorf is now the chief of staff to Jennifer Gutiérrez, a council member from Brooklyn, while Mr. Goldberg recently worked as a producer of a documentary, “The Sixth,” with A24 Films.

On the morning of Sept. 29, 2022, the couple woke up to bangs and shouts. Firefighters ushered them to the sidewalk, where they watched as flames destroyed the apartment next to theirs.

The work to get the fire under control damaged their own home so severely that they were displaced for six months. The experience inspired Ms. Bessendorf to write the NYC Residential Fire Emergency Response Guide , now distributed by the Red Cross to help New Yorkers understand their rights after a fire, and create the Back Home Act, which protects tenants after a fire or natural disaster, introduced by Ms. Gutiérrez this past spring.

Though they had put off plans for an engagement amid the pandemic and fire, by spring 2023, the couple felt they had delayed enough. Mr. Goldberg’s sister invited Ms. Bessendorf to an event space in Chelsea under the ruse of a work event. There, Mr. Goldberg proposed on a terrace with soaring views of the Hudson River.

Their wedding vibe was a no-brainer. “We wanted a weekend that felt like a camp weekend, like a bubble with our friends and family,” Ms. Bessendorf said. They were married Aug. 18, which is Tu B’Av, comparable to Valentine’s Day on the Jewish calendar, by Rabbi Avram Mlotek at Someplace Upstate, a wedding venue in Marlboro, N.Y.

The wedding weekend offered their 140 guests plenty of Jewish camp-esque activities, from Torah readings to lawn games, movie night on an inflatable projector and a bonfire.

At the reception, under a tent festooned with disco balls, Mr. Goldberg surprised Ms. Bessendorf with a serenade of “Nothing Can Change This Love” by Sam Cooke. “I have a bit of a reputation among my friends as a karaoke whiz,” he said.

When friends screamed for an encore, Mr. Goldberg obliged with a rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “The Best Is Yet to Come.”
