There’s important news for Bavaria that has just started the construction of its first power catamaran. The boat is called Nautitech 47 Power and will be probably presented at the 2018 Düsseldorf Boat Show. Largely inspired by the previous Nautitech 46 Open , the new catamaran will have the same hull than the sailing counterpart.
Bavaria took over Nautitech three years ago; since then, it has been building sailing multihulls and, now, the German boatyard has decided to enlarge its range embracing a field that is experiencing an unprecedented development period. We’re talking about the world of power catamarans, of course.
The concept and engineering phases have been already completed and the new boat will be soon under construction at the Rochefort -based production site (France) where the German brand has concentrated the production of its catamarans.
14 metres long , the Nautitech 47 Power will feature the same size and design than the sailing Nautitech 46 Open.
According to initial Bavaria reports, the new power catamaran will benefit from finishes and spaces which will place it in the range of luxury boats intended for long cruises.
If sizes and design will replicate those of the sailing counterpart, exterior layout , however, seems to be completely different, at least according to the first renderings.
On the stern stands out a large swimming platform which will be also used to accommodate a tender that, according to the manufacturer, would reach up to 2.80 metres in length . A further outdoor space, much larger than the traditional cockpit and furnished with a central table and sofas, is located on the bow . Then, another outdoor space is available on the flybridge which, in addition to the wheelhouse, envisages a wet bar equipped with BBQ, refrigerator and sink.
The cockpit gives access to the inner dinette with a continuity of volumes that Bavaria had already baptized “ Open Concept ” at the launch of the sailing 46 Open. For the moment, information about interior arrangement are still under wraps but desing would probably focus on spacious environments , maybe numerically reduced in the owner’s version.
The Nautitech 47 will be powered by two Volvo Penta D4 engines outputting 225 or 300 hp which, according to forecasts of the boatyard, will ensure a maximum speed of 22 knots and a range of 1,000 miles at 9-knot cruising speed .
At this point, we just have to wait for further information from Bavaria headquarters, maybe before next autumn and the first boat shows, during which some more pictures will be certainly unveiled.

The debut of the Bavaria Nautitech 47 Power sailing catamaran took place in 2018 at the international exhibition of sailing boats in Dusseldorf. The design of the vessel was carried out by the shipyard's design bureau, together with the French design studio Marc Lombard Yacht Design. The catamaran was created on the basis of the famous Nautitech 46 FLY, borrowing a wide body and a spacious flybridge with a full control post from the older model. The yacht received panoramic uninterrupted glazing of the entire cabin, a glass door in the stern of the vessel which serves as an exit to the terrace, as well as a large number of opening portholes in the cabins. The cabins were decorated in Italian style, as evidenced by the light colors of the interior design. The interior is finished in teak in light tones and is available in various configurations to the customer's choice.
In the salon there is a dining area with a folding table, a wardroom, a control room and a kitchen with a stove, sink, oven, grill, as well as a refrigerator. For outdoor recreation, there is a flybridge with a minibar and a barbecue, a relaxation area in the bow and a shaded terrace at the stern of the yacht. From the terrace you can go to the folding transom with a hydraulic drive, which provides easy access to water and, thanks to special fixtures, can serve as a tender garage. The yacht has three or four double cabins to choose the owner, with a separate bathroom in each of them.
Sailing for the Bavaria Nautitech 47 Power was done by Elvström Sails, which offers several sail materials to choose from, depending on your preference and sailing style. The yacht also has two Volvo diesel engines with a total capacity of 300 hp.

The clear lines and dynamic design of the Nautitech 47 Power reveal the powerful elegance of this power catamaran. With a top speed of 22 knots, this catamaran doesn’t just have powerful acceleration, its cruising range of 1000 miles at a speed of nearly 9 knots is also testimony to its endurance. And whether on deck or below deck, there is plenty of room for luxury and relaxation.
Sunsets on board the Nautitech 47 Power are best enjoyed on the bow. That’s where one finds an enticing sofa and table with plenty of space for relaxing, not just in the evening.
The stern of the Nautitech 47 Power has multiple uses. The lifting platform between the hulls can be used as a Tenderlift or as a bathing paradise. It easily lifts a Williams Minijet 280 out of the water. In its central position, it links the two hulls to form a flat space which becomes a wonderful area for sunbathing right next to the water. When the platform is completely lowered into the water, Nautitech 47 Power has its own beach in shallow water.
The day at sea is best spent on the generous flybridge. From here there\'s a perfect view across the Nautitech 47 Power as it gently swishes over the sea. With a Bimini or a hardtop offering protection, the slipstream is there to be enjoyed and life can be lived to the full. A barbecue and a wet bar are also at the ready on the flybridge.
The big dinner with friends, or breakfast with the crew is best served on the long dining table in the large cockpit with direct access to the saloon. At Bavaria Catamarans, we call this tried and tested room layout ‘open concept’. With this clever layout, cockpit and saloon melt into one living space. The perfectly equipped pantry, the exclusive lounge area in the saloon and the generous cockpit all give the impression of a penthouse apartment.
Driving pleasure is provided by two Volvo Penta D4 motors each with 225 hp or 300 hp. The balance of power and efficiency are particularly impressive. It can travel at a top speed of 22 knots, or cruise long stretches of 1000 miles without stopping.
