140 metre Lloyd Werft superyacht Solaris pictured in Gibraltar

Solaris , one of the largest superyachts to launch in 2021, has been spotted passing through Gibraltar. The yacht is now underway for Barcelona after departing Gibraltar on June 6. 

It comes after the 140 metre superyacht was recently delivered following sea trials in the North Sea.

Designed by Australian designer Marc Newson, Solaris was launched at German yard Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven in February.

Key exterior features include a light grey hull and white superstructure.

Little is known about the superyacht but  images show a large helipad, sun deck and spacious beach club aft. Solaris also features a total of eight decks.

It comes after Lloyd Werft delivered the 115 metre explorer yacht Luna in 2010. Read about Luna's €50 million refit here .

Today, Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven has launched the highly-anticipated 140m  mega yacht SOLARIS , one of the largest yachts in the world currently under construction. Unfortunately, it was a very foggy day, so few details can be seen; however, we can see that the yacht will feature huge deck areas. As known for vessels of this calibre, she will feature the latest in technology and design. Photos were taken by DrDuu, while in this article you see additional photos from about 2 weeks ago, where she was being prepared for lunch.

Large-Cabin Jets

Mid-Size Jets

Large-cabin, long-range private jets are the absolute top of the line, offering exceptional performance and amenities. The average large-cabin jet, such as the Gulfstream IV, has a range of 3500-4800 miles with a cruise speed of 530 mph. Long-range options such as the Gulfstream G650, or the Bombardier Global Express, can fly 7000+ miles non-stop. Onboard amenities typically found on large-cabin jets include a private lavatory and dressing area, convertible space for sleeping, multiple baggage compartments, entertainment systems, satellite phones, fax machines, internet service, and full galleys. Typical Interior Layout:

The mid-size and super-mid are a combined category, optimally geared toward medium-range trips such as transcontinental flights with minimal stops. The Hawker 900XP or the Falcon 50EX offer luxurious seating for 5-9 passengers on flights of distances ranging from 2000-3500 miles. Aircraft in this category are generally considered stand-up cabin height and include amenities such as a full galley, entertainment systems, and a fully enclosed lavatory.

Typical Interior Layout:

Light Jets offer a high performance option for shorter flights of three hours or less. Most are uniquely capable of flying into hundreds of airports not accessible by the mid or large category jets. Light-jets such as the Hawker 400XP or the Citation CJ3 have an average range of 1700 miles. While each aircraft is unique, the typical cabin features a partial galley, a private lavatory, and is configured to comfortably accommodate up to six passengers.

Considered the backbone of general aviation, turboprop aircraft provide a cost effective option for short-haul flights or flights that require more luggage capacity. These aircraft offer surprising comfort and comparable performance to many of the light-jets. Turboprop aircraft, such as the King Air 350, have a cruising speed of 300+ mph, a cabin configuration for eight passengers, and a range of up to 1000 miles.
