Basic specs..

Both the hull and the deck is made of fibreglass. Generally, a hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season. The hull is a double hull which improves the indoor climate. Especially when the water is colder than the air in the cabin, then the double hull insulates against cold water and reduce the condense water in the cabin. The deck is a double deck which improves the indoor climate.

The interior is like most other boats made of teak. Teak has the advantage of being naturally very oily and therefore water-repellent, which is suitable on boats. The boat is equipped with 3 cabins, 7 berths, a galley, 135.0 liter fresh water capacity and toilet facility.

The boat equipped with a masthead rig. The advantage of a masthead rig is its simplicity and the fact that a given sail area - compared with a fractional rig - can be carried lower and thus with less heeling moment.

The Maxi 35 has been built with different keel alternatives.

But be aware that even though a Wing Keel keel is very good for speed racing, a fishing nets and the like in the water can easily make you into a troublesome situation.

The keel is made of iron. Many people prefer lead keel in favour of iron. The main argument is that lead is much heavier than iron and a lead keel can therefore be made smaller which again result in less wet surface, i.e. less drag. In fact iron is quite heavy, just 30% less heavy than lead, so the advantage of a lead keel is often overstated.

The boat can enter most marinas as the draft is just about 1.50 - 1.60 meter (4.92 - 5.22 ft) dependent on the load. See immersion rate below.

We're nearing the end of our search for our next boat and have shortlisted a few. Currently looking at two Maxi 35s and wondered if anyone has sailed/any experience of one? They look very similar in design to the 34 (35 is 9inches or so longer and a bit heavier) which received good praise in the Sailing Today test in 2010. Apart from that there isn't anything specific on the owners association site ( http://www.maxiowners.org ) and have emailed them to no avail so far. Any thoughts?  

Hi, No experience with the 35, but have owned a 1000 and currently and 1100, both of which sail very well. The facebook group "Maxi Yachts of Sweden" is quite active so it may be worth posting something on there.

Thought I'd close this out. I'm sure they sail really well, but they're small down below. And more importantly the boat did not anywhere near match the description on the brokers website - arguably a real waste of a 3+ hr roundtrip drive. Not sure why brokers do that That said, the guy who showed us was very honest and said that we should wait a few months and it would inevitably drop in price and said that it was currently c.£10k overpriced. Still, an annoyingly wasted journey

A well-constructed heavy displacement yacht in excellent condition for her age. She is equipped for cruising with rigging and engine professionally maintained. The Maxi Mixer 35 was built by Maxi Yachts, Sweden, and designed by Pelle Petterson award winning designer and sailing medalist. Maxis are still among the most common sailing boats in Swedish waters. The sleek hull design has a set of unique teak, footrest, running rails along the hull of boat, which are a comfort dream for leg-over crew and guests. Beautiful mahogany wood paneled interior provides spacious comfort and standing headroom. She has plenty of storage with multiple lockers over main cabin seating/berths and a centerline solid wood folding table with a bottle storage compartment. The chart table folds up when not in use and has 3 draws under, instrument switches and panel above. Galley area has a separate work light, woodwork counter surface with 3 draws under, sliding panel storage behind with open rack storage above and Microwave oven below. The galley also has an insulated ice box locker, double SS sink with electric freshwater facets, seawater foot pump and drain. Enclosed Head: Electric Toilet with holding tank. On head wall is sliding panel storage with open rack storage above. When it comes to designing and building yachts the Scandinavians always get it right, they stand out from the crowd. This Maxi 35 has been extremely well cared for and maintained by her very experienced owner. She is a sleek boat which will look after you in the most extreme of conditions but is easy to handle and rewarding to sail. The lines are led aft so all can be controlled from the cockpit. An extensive array of navigation equipment has been fitted in the cockpit. Down below, the aft cabin has a double berth with a single opposite. In the main saloon there is a quarter-berth with a well appointed navigation station forward. There is a large cabin table with plenty of seating around it and a good sized galley is opposite. There is also plenty of storage to keep everything ship shape below. Going forward the heads are to starboard with a hanging locker opposite and a good sized double berth in the forward cabin. If you are in the market for this size of boat don't miss the opportunity to view her.

(Serviced every year) Engine and Saildrive last service April 2016. Has only done 1 hour (April 2016) since last service. Stainless steel 80 litre fuel tank. Cruising speed of 6 knots with a maximum of 7 knots.

Sloop rigged Isomat Aluminium spars (1990) with Stainless Steel standing rigging (2007)

Masthead Bermudan rigged sloop. IMI ISOMAT aluminium deck stepped mast and boom. Twin spreaders with cap shrouds and lower shrouds and babystay. Stainless steel standing rigging (replaced 2007). Checked and re-tensioned April 2014 Dyneema running rigging, replaced April 2014, led aft to cockpit where there are 7 jammers fitted April 2014 replaced . 80%battened mainsail with 2 reefs and Crusader stackpack system. Reefing lines led aft to cockpit. Furling genoa with Furlex furling system. Genoa tracks lifted and re-sealed March 2014,Reefing lines are at the mast with a separate winch. Spinnaker pole.

This Maxi 35 was built in 1990 by Maxi yachts to a design by Pelle Ptterson. Blue painted GRP hull with white style stripes. Hull was professionally painted blue in 2011.Cream GRP raised coach roof with moulded non-skid decks. Cast iron keel. Self-draining cockpit and anchor well. Alloy toe rails. Teak rails and guard wires. Skeg hung rudder. Teak laid decks, cockpit sole and seats. Fixed wraparound windscreen. Owned by the current owner since December 2013. Last out of the water for 3 months January 2016. Now,fully serviced ready for the season,

Accommodation

This Maxi 35 offers six/seven berths in two cabins and the saloon with two double berths and approx. 5' 11" maximum headroom. Forward is a V berth with infill which converts to double and good shelf storage as well as space beneath the berth There is Portside wardrobe and storage shelf between the forward cabin and saloon. Opposite is the heads with hand basin with hot & cold water, marine head and cupboard storage space. New domestic water pump and gauge fitted April 2014.

The U saloon has a large table that makes into a double berth. The saloon has lots of storage space below the settees and in cupboards above. All cushion form and covers were replaced in July 2014. The linear galley is to starboard in front of the chart table. Formica work surface, double stainless steel sink with hot and cold pressurised water from the engine. Optimus two burner gas cooker with oven, 12v fridge, serviced March 2014 and lots of storage space.

There is a good sized chart table to Port with panel for instruments and lots of storage space. Aft of the charttable is a single pilot berth with storage beneath. The aft cabin has a small double sized berth to starboard and a single to port, hanging locker, shelves and also storage under the berth. There is access from the aft cabin into the cockpit.

The centre cockpit is spacious with a deep locker and easy access to the transom with its sugar scoop making easy to step on and off of the pontoon. All cockpit drains were serviced and overhauled in March 2014. Hot & cold cockpit shower (not working). All windows have recently been re-sealed 2014

These boat details are subject to contract. This Maxi 35 was purchased by the current owner in December 2013 after looking for his ideal yacht for a while. He has spent a considerable amount of money getting her into good condition including new hatches, new dodgers, new running rigging new upholstery and new navigation equipment as well as all of the usual maintenance items rig check and tunes, sails valeted, engine service, antifouled and new anodes. Unfortunately, he now needs to sell due to health reasons. This yacht is ready to sail and would make a great family cruiser. Note: Offers on the asking price may be considered.
