Looking at a 36
I'm looking at a 1981 36 Yamaha, I didn't even know that Yamaha sailboats existed until I bumped into this boat. So I need as much information as possible. Please excuse the elementary questions we currently have owned boats produced in the thousands so parts and information was much easier to...
Westsail 33 or Sparkman & Stephens 36?
If I had a choice and condition, equipment and price similar, than I would pick S&S. These boats sail better, more easily, and although there is less room on a S&S 34 compared with Westsail 33. The 36 model should offer similar space down below compared with a Westsail. I see the asking price for the S&S is $20 k more.
Hunter 36 Pros and Cons?
Great engine for coastal cruising. However, it is not enough horsepower if out in rough seas. 36 or great horsepower is need. It comes with standard 60 amp car alternator (bad) and one rancor fuel filter. The fuel filter is R20 which doesn't have the clear bowl to see water and sediments with.
Yamaha 33 would you buy one today?
Aug 25, 2015. 10. Yamaha 33 Bellingham. Aug 25, 2015. #1. Hello All. Looking at a 1978 Yamaha 33. It is outfitted with all fairly new electronics, set up for crossing to Hawaii out of WA State with ten fairly new sails in last couple years. The boat is very clean considering making an offer on her but curious if you were new in the sailing game ...
Yamaha 36
The Yamaha 36 is a 35.93ft masthead sloop designed by Yamaha Design team and built in fiberglass by Yamaha since 1979. The Yamaha 36 is a moderate weight sailboat which is a good performer. It is very stable / stiff and has a low righting capability if capsized. It is best suited as a coastal cruiser. The fuel capacity is originally small.

Fair winds. Hello!! We just bought a Y36. Sailed her around Spain from north (Vizcay Gulf) to the Balearic Islands in these last months. We would love to contact with other owners to learn about their updates and experiences. The boat is in good shape but we would like to do some little updates.
Review of Yamaha 36
The immersion rate is defined as the weight required to sink the boat a certain level. The immersion rate for Yamaha 36 is about 214 kg/cm, alternatively 1200 lbs/inch. Meaning: if you load 214 kg cargo on the boat then it will sink 1 cm. Alternatively, if you load 1200 lbs cargo on the boat it will sink 1 inch.

Feature In praise of the She 36
Of all the design offices to rise to prominence in the 20th century, Sparkman & Stephens must rank near the top. From cruising yachts to America's Cup 12 metres (with an unsurpassed record of six winners), the iconic S & S name ruled supreme. Brothers Olin and Rod made their mark in 1931 when their beautiful
Peter Canning Mariner 36
The Mariner 36 sailboat is the 4th sailboat that I have owned and the best so I have basis for opinion. We owned hull #5 and got involved early in life cycle of 36. We owned her for 12 years and actively sailed every summer, always making summer vacation passage Down East from CT. One year, wife and I did CT to Newfoundland.Early boat partner joined Mariner, so I had inside view as well.

The previous owner of this boat changed the original sails for some nice cruiser laminate tri radial sails, these set nicely and in moderate conditions she sails very well indeed. The only negative I would say is the light weight bow roller and what seems flimsy stanchions, pullpit and push pit. But all in all the Bav 36 is a good boat for the ...

Beneteau First 36: The Top 10 Best Boats Review
The new Beneteau First 36 that debuted at Annapolis last fall checks all these boxes, and more. Enough that we here at SAIL happily anointed it one of our 2023 Top 10 Best Boats winners. This is a remarkably versatile craft. For a mass-production boat, it is quite light but also very strong, with a purely race-boat-quality build regimen.
