The P-165 is a daysailer (3 stay, light displacement, positive flotation). If you understand that, it is a great boat and you will have lots of fun with it. If you want to travel and overnight, get the keel/centerboard P-18 with 6 stays, lifelines, more ballast, and a better motion in rough water. Like. P.

The P-165 is a 16 ft. trailersailer designed by Jim Taylor for performance and fun. It has a low freeboard, a simple rig, a lead ballast keel, and a spacious cockpit and cabin.
Review of Precision 165
The Precision 165 is equipped with a fin keel. The fin keel is the most common keel and provides splendid manoeuvrability. The downside is that it has less directional stability than a long keel. The boat can enter even shallow marinas as the draft is just about 0.53 - 0.63 meter (1.74 - 2.04 ft) dependent on the load. See immersion rate below.

I'm afraid I may have to sell my beloved Victoria 18 soon, as my wife just doesn't feel comfortable in it. the Vic is only 5.5' wide, so it is initially tender. With the 550b keel it firms up solid as a rock beyond 15* or so, but she just doesn't feel secure in it regardless.
