Transportation

Departure is from Jan Thiel beach (the jetty at beach club Zanzibar). You can park in the large parking lot at Jan Thiel beach (free of charge). The Powerboat does not offer a pick-up service, if you wish we can arrange a cab for you.

What the tour looks like

Taking the Powerboat to Klein Curacao is a unique experience. It is especially ideal for when you are not waiting for a full-day trip offered by the many other boats, where you are out from early morning until early evening. The Powerboat doesn’t leave until 10:00 am (from Jan Thiel Beach), so plenty of time to sleep in and have a leisurely breakfast before heading to Jan Thiel Beach. A major advantage of the Powerboat is that its speed allows you to skim almost straight across the water, rather than bobbing back and forth on the swell as in other boats. As a result, there is virtually no chance of getting seasick in the Powerboat. You arrive on Klein Curacao refreshed and fruity, probably still impressed by the tough trip you just made. By 10:45 you will arrive at Klein Curacao, and you will have time all to yourself to explore the island. Or to lounge on Curacao’s whitest beach, you can use their beach hut with the Powerboat to lie in the shade. Around early afternoon, you will have a delicious BBQ buffet for lunch, including chicken and tenderloin, salads, bread and fruit. Drinks are also included: soft drinks & juices, beer and wine. Around 15:00 you will be expected back at the boat to get ready to return to Curacao. Snap on your belt and you’re off again across the sea towards Curacao, where you’ll arrive 16:00 at Jan Thiel Beach. Bad weather

On average 3 times a year it happens that the Powerboat has to cancel a trip to Klein Curacao due to bad weather. In that case, an alternative program is offered around Curacao. If you are just unlucky enough to have this for your trip, it is not possible to get your money back because this offers a full alternative. Anyway, “rain” is not a reason to cancel free of charge. On the rare occassion that we have bookings for only 5 persons or less, we might decide to cancel the trip. This will be decided at least 24h before the trip and we will offer an alternative.

Power up your day with a 2.5-hour speedboat tour along the coastline of Curacao. This powerboat excursion from Jan Thiel beach is the perfect combination of high speed cruising and sightseeing from the water with a refreshing drink at the end.

You will meet the crew at the Zanzibar Restaurant in Jan Thiel beach at 9:45 am in the morning. You will listen to a safety briefing and sign a waiver form before taking your seat in the powerboat. We will cruise through Jan Thiel Bay at slow speed and once we are on open sea we push down the throttle and show you what our powerboat is capable of.

We will pass by Mambo Beach Boulevard and the famous hotels on our way to Willemstad, a UNESCO world heritage site where your captain will slow down to explain a bit of its history. You will have a closer look at the colorful buildings, the famous pontoon bridge and Fort Amsterdam.

We will switch to full speed again as we head to Piscadera Bay, a beautiful lagoon protected by Fort Piscadera built in 1701. We will take a sharp turn here and head back towards Spanish Bay and Fuikaai where we will conclude our Curacao sightseeing speedboat tour with a drink. Hold on to your seat once last time as we go flat out back to our base in Jan Thiel.

The powerboat is a fast rib boat (rigid inflatable boat). as soon as the captain puts the 600 hp or 400 hp engines to work, the boat will shoot forward across the water. where the other boats take at least 1.5 hours, the powerboat takes you to klein curacao in 45 minutes. truly an extra adrenaline rush, and another advantage: you won’t get seasick, take the powerboat to klein curacao.

With the Powerboat to Klein Curacao gives you some extras compared to a trip with the other ‘regular’ boattrips to Klein Curacao. You will go with the fastest boat. Exploring the west coast of curaçao on a powerboat.

On Tuesday 25 th of September, I went on an amazingly wild ride up and down the West Coast of Curaçao. On an orange powerboat I was able to go from Spanish Water, all the way to Playa Piskado and back in seven hours! This tour was a fabulous way to see the island of Curaçao from a whole different perspective, with all her hidden secrets that can only be discovered by Sea.

Spanish Water Curaçao

My day began at Fishermen’s Pier (Visserhaven) at 10 am, which is just left of Caracasbaai (on the right) and in one of the harbors on Spanish Water. After signing the waiver, tucking my bag away, once in my seat we soon powered out of Spanish Water, and into open waters. Being seated on the right side, with the coast to my right, left me in just the right position to get constantly splashed every time we hit a wave just right. By the time we reached Mambo, I was positively soaked through, with my hat dripping water, and it was just pointless to wipe my sunglasses dry. With how fast we were going, flying, jumping in the water I really could not care less about being soaked. The boat ride was fun and just exciting one it’s own! However, to be honest it can be a little scary when we jumped out of the water and landed back into the sea, so unexpectedly.

Our first stop at 10:45 was near the beach Kokomo, this stop was just a break so that we could stretch a bit and have something to drink. Drinks are included in this trip and are available throughout the tour! Here we could see the clear, turquoise blue water and it looked so inviting! Sadly, this is not our stop and we wouldn’t be stopping till Playa Piskado. On the way to Piskado, we saw all the famous spots of Curaçao from the beaches such as Porto Mari, Cas Abao, Knip, and hidden gems in the sand, to the stunning nature and hotels.

Playa Piskado

By 11:30 we reached Playa Piskado located on the West Coast of Curaçao where we could enter the blue waters and snorkel with the Sea Turtles there. I spent the next 45 minutes watching Sea Turtles come and go, diving underwater to see them closer. Soon I swam back to the boat, enjoying the cool water, and seeing all this underwater life at Playa Piskado. Next, we went to the gorgeous Playa Lagun, which is hidden between towering cliffs for lunch at Bahia. Bahia is located at the top cliff with a breath-taking view of the beach and the turquoise waters below. Enjoy the amazing view, great food, and even the kittens that roam the restaurant. After lunch, we went to the magical blue room and watch this hidden cave dance with shimmering blue lights.

Blue Room Curaçao

After leaving the blue room, we cruised back towards the east side of the island and we encountered the heavy current. Even though it was considered a good day, current wise, it was still very intense even with the expert navigating of our Captain Tamara. There were lots of jumps, dips, drops, and those on the left side were splashed quite a bit. While most would find this thrilling, as this is a very exciting boat trip, it was just intense for me! I was very happy when we reached the rest stop near Kokomo for a break. Soon here after we were in Punda enjoying the historic architecture in the city center and for a picture stop. Our final stop was at St. Barbara for a quick refreshing swim before we toured around Spanish Water. Within Spanish Water are the luxurious villas of Curaçao. We explored deep within Spanish Water, parts I never saw before until we docked back at 5 pm.

This tour is an amazing way to get to know the hard to reach places of Curacao, the places that can only be reached via sea. This tour is intense, fun, exciting, definitely a tour, and a great way to spend your Tuesday with a small group (max 10 persons).

• I recommend this great boat tour for small groups!
• I did not get seasick on this trip, which is the benefit of riding on a Powerboat. However, in the morning I did take my motion sickness medications like I always do, just on this trip, I was not even nauseous like other boat trips. So, this Powerboat Tour or one to Klein Curaçao is really a must for those who are prone to seasickness.
• Wear sunglasses! There is nothing to protect your eyes or face from the sun, so wearing sunglasses is a most!
• Be sure to already wear your swimsuit under your clothes as you jump straight from the boat and into the water.
• Speaking of clothes, wear some that you don’t mind getting soaked or simply if you have it, waterproof clothes.
