2 YEAR BUILD TIME
A 64-meter superyacht full of brilliant and innovative solutions, created to offer a peerless level of on-board social life
At 1,600 gross tons, 64 meters of length, five decks and a maximum beam of 13.10 meters (42ft 11in), the 64 Steel offers vast area for entertaining.
An example of Sanlorenzo’s prowess in the field of completely sartorial creations capable of interpreting the needs of owners with unique interior design, also in very large yachts, to guarantee the highest quality of life on board.
It is an innovative proposal, thanks to a layout and structures commonly found in large yachts, permitting Sanlorenzo to apply novel solutions to optimize on-board livability, combined with elegant external lines created by Officina Italiana Design.
The most important aspect of the definition and concept of the yacht has been the desire to create continuity between the main deck at the stern, with the pool and dining areas, and the beach club on the lower deck, through a double staircase. This characteristic makes it possible to fully enjoy both areas, as the focal points of life on board. With the transom and lateral platforms open, the beach club – which also contains a sauna, steam bath, massage room and fitness zone au fil de l’eau covers an exceptional area of 78 square meters.
The indisputable Flagship of Sanlorenzo’s superyachts “Steel” line with a fast displacement hull, the 64Steel offers various stylistic features that distinguish the design from other boats of the same size:
the ability to reserve an entire deck to the ship owner, the Owner Deck, which includes the bedroom facing the bow, which has a large whirlpool bath on the outside; the ability to load two big tenders of over 10 meters in length which can also be limousine tenders, thanks to the garage’s height, as found in yachts over 80 meters long; the maximum beam of 13.10 meters, also typical of a yacht over 70 meters long; the helipad for touch and go, at the bow, which can be turned into an extraordinary solarium when not in use; the 64Steel platform was designed to be extended from 64 to 70 meters to satisfy varying requests.
A real challenge for the production team was the creation of an enormous barbecue in the dining area of the main deck, a request which was particularly connected to the nationality of the owner, an Argentine entrepreneur who was already a Sanlorenzo client with the 46Steel Achille delivered in 2012 and was closely involved with the planning and construction of the new yacht from the beginning. The arrangement of an open fire in an enclosed space in fact required the use of A60 fireproof stainless steel and the installation of an advanced smoke removal system.
The interiors of 64Steel Attila have been furnished and decorated by Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini, who have worked in close contact with the shipyard and above all with the client to formulate a space that would reflect his necessities, featuring natural materials like teak. The bulkheads in glass and fabric add an extraordinary three-dimensional effect to the spaces, while in the lobbies backlit onyx helps to create a warm, enveloping atmosphere. Another leitmotif is steel, utilized throughout the yacht as a connection between various materials, to generate a harmonious relationship in the dominant colors of white, grey and brown.
For the furnishings, besides the custom-designed pieces, collaboration with some of the most outstanding Italian and international design firms, such as Summit, De Sede, Flexform and Catellani & Smith, just to name a few, has been of fundamental importance.
The crew, located in the Lower Deck, has private and independent routes with two service stairs and an elevator for the rapid transfer of cold and dry goods into the storage rooms. Below the Lower Deck, lies the Tank Deck with a refrigeration chamber, a refrigerated waste room, a multimedia room for the crew, a large laundry, and a climate-controlled “wine cellar” with a capacity of up to 500 bottles.
The four guest rooms and the full beam VIP suite are located on the Main Deck.

Sanlorenzo 64Steel Atilla
With the 64Steel Attila, Sanlorenzo launched its most prestigious and imposing flagship; a roomy, spacious, and welcoming long vessel that offers a prestigious level of on-board social life that has never been seen before in a 1,600 GRT yacht.
POSTED On 28.05.2019
Sanlorenzo 64Steel
At 1,600 gross tons, 64 meters of length, five decks and an internal maximum width of 12.5 meters, 64Steel Attila is the largest yacht that Sanlorenzo has produced so far. The Italian shipyard introduced an innovative layout with elegant exterior lines and structures which maximize onboard livability.
The Main Deck at the stern and the Beach Club on the Lower Deck surely represent the most distinctive areas of the project. A strong hallmark of design and layout is the double stairway that connects the pool and dining area to the Beach Club equipped with a sauna, hammam, massage room, and gym, right at the waterline. With the bow mirror and the side platforms open, the Beach Club covers an area of 78 square meters.
“The most important aspect that has characterized yatcht’s concept has been the will to obtain continuity between the beach club and an area we could call an “al fresco” veranda, that is the rear part of the Main Deck where the pool is also located, passing along an impressive stairway. The idea behind the layout in fact enables us to integrate the main aft deck and the beach club as much as possible. This characteristic thus enables us to enjoy both areas, around which the social life on board is focused, simultaneously, without separating the guests.” Antonio Santella, Vice President Sales & Marketing, Sanlorenzo Superyacht Division
The indisputable Flagship of Sanlorenzo’s superyachts “Steel” line with a fast displacement hull, the 64Steel offers various stylistic features that distinguish the prototype/design from other boats of the same size: • the ability to reserve an entire deck to the ship owner, the Owner Deck, which includes the bedroom facing the bow, which has a large whirlpool bath on the outside; • the ability to load two big tenders of over 10 meters in length which can also be limousine tenders, thanks to the garage’s height, as found in yachts over 80 meters long; • the maximum internal beam is 12.5 meters large, also typical of a yacht over 70 meters long; • the helipad for touch and go, at the bow, which can be turned into an extraordinary solarium when not in use; • the 64Steel platform was designed to be extended from 64 to 70 meters to satisfy varying requests.
“Yachts come to life from ideas. These are the ones that gave birth to Attila, our 64 meter yacht, our flagship.” Antonio Santella

It's no surprise that the 64 is built to megayacht standards, with all systems selected and engineered for a lifetime of trouble-free operation, and reliable service at the most remote cruise destinations. As a pioneer in resin-infused composite construction, Northern Marine produces yachts of unsurpassed strength and integrity.
A large covered deck aft extends forward past a curved settée and service bar to broad side decks surrounding the spacious saloon, where there's enough room for a separate dining area, served by a commercial-grade galley.
The large pilothouse encloses the lower helm station, observation settée and navigation station, with access to VIP and guest accommodations forward on the lower deck. A separate stairway leads to the midship owner's stateroom. On the boat deck, a centerline-mounted davit allows mounting one or two tenders.
The proven hull form of the Northern Marine 64 delivers exceptional stability for passenger comfort, and a quiet ride with single-engine power. Systems are specified for reliable operation, with built-in redundancy in critical areas for an extra measure of owner confidence and enjoyable long range cruising.

Reviewed: Absolute Yachts Navetta 64
- By Phil Draper
- Updated: March 16, 2021
The bluff-bow Navetta 64 is the latest new-age trawler from Italy’s Absolute Yachts . This model’s biggest evolution from the builder’s other five Navettas is a forward-raked windshield, a feature as practical as it is stylish. The proportionally larger side windows toward the bow are now a brand signature for Absolute, creating a bold profile in concert with detailing such as the sturdy molded rail that sweeps aft to the transom from the high foredeck.
For go-anywhere cruisers, the Navetta 64 has all the appropriate design elements. A hardtop protects the flybridge, whose overhang shields not only the aft deck but also the side decks. There are booth-style seating and sunbathing space on what Absolute calls the “foredeck terrace.” There’s also an optional glazed transom—another big design departure for this model—that conceals an air-conditioned space. This area can serve as a beach-club lounge during the day or as a double-berth stateroom for occasional overnight guests (a flip-over backrest converts the mattress into a sofa). With that aft space in use as a stateroom, the Navetta 64 can sleep eight people in four en suite staterooms.
The aft space has two sliding glass doors that seal pneumatically and are RINA-certified to ensure the compartment is watertight when they’re closed. Even if, in an emergency, the space were flooded, it would not compromise the yacht, according to the builder. And the engines won’t start if the doors are left open.
In addition to the sliding doors, a watertight door from the space’s portside head leads forward to the engine room, which can be accessed through a hatch in the cockpit sole.
If you’re thinking this stern design means there’s no place for crew, you’re wrong. A crew cabin is amidships to starboard, with its own stairs descending from a door on the starboard side deck—the sort of arrangement commonplace on larger motoryachts.
The Navetta 64′s interior styling is contemporary cool with elm and walnut furniture, oak soles, and a harmonious blend of textures and sheens. The main salon includes a galley and dining table aft. A drop-down window helps open up the galley to the cockpit. Amidships is a lounge where most of the furniture is by Minotti.
Forward of the salon, the bridge is raised, giving the lounge abaft it a feeling of intimacy. There are two seats at the bridge with the helm outboard. Most instrumentation is by Garmin. The commanding position delivers clear visibility forward and to the immediate sides, particularly so to starboard, thanks to an optional side-deck glass door whose top panel opens. Cameras and a stern docking station can mitigate the lack of direct sightlines aft, and there is the option of enclosing the upper helm position, which has 360-degree views.
The owner’s stateroom is forward, several steps down from the salon. The forward-facing berth has plenty of space around it, splendid views thanks to Absolute’s signature glazing, and en suite facilities in the bow with another set of windows and opening portholes. Two other en suite staterooms occupy the amidships space on the lower deck. There’s an athwartships double to port and a twin-berth setup to starboard.
Absolute’s design team also focused on utility in the Navetta 64. The laundry room’s door is set into the same bulkhead that separates the owner’s stateroom from the rest of the accommodations, but the laundry room itself is accessed from the lower-deck lobby. There’s space for a washer/dryer and stowage for towels and linens. Another door beyond the appliances reveals a service tunnel that runs all the way forward to the chain-locker bulkhead and deep stowage compartments.
Designed for a maximum speed in the mid-to-high 20s and a fast cruise in the high teens, the Navetta 64′s standard power is twin 900 hp Volvo Penta D13-IPS1200 diesels. However, most owners have opted for the biggest machinery offered: twin 1,000 hp Volvo Penta D13-IPS1350 diesels. Absolute says the optional powerplants are ideal for customers who run heavy with lots of guests and luggage, the largest possible tender, and the biggest stabilizer. Hull No. 1, the first of three Navetta 64s destined for the United States so far, has the big horses and a reported top speed of about 28 knots.
The Absolute Navetta 64 may have a trawler-inspired aesthetic, but the yacht’s fast-cruising performance, modern design elements and multifunctional spaces create a new and welcome style of cruising yacht.

How A Waterspout May Have Sunk UK Tech Tycoon Mike Lynch's Yacht
One body has been found and lynch, his daughter, and jonathan bloomer, chairman of morgan stanley international, are among the six people missing..
The 56-metre "Bayesian" was being used by Mike Lynch to celebrate a court victory (File)
The marine weather phenomenon blamed for sinking a British tech tycoon's yacht off Sicily, known as a waterspout, may have been strengthened by unusually warm waters in the Mediterranean, experts said.
The 56-metre (183-foot) "Bayesian", being used by Mike Lynch and his wealthy guests to celebrate a court victory, disappeared into the sea within minutes of being hit by the tornado-like storm off the Sicilian town of Porticello.
One body has been found and Lynch, his daughter, and Jonathan Bloomer, chairman of Morgan Stanley International, are among six people missing since the disaster at 4:00 am on Monday.
The British-flagged vessel was anchored some 700 metres from the port with 10 crew and 12 passengers on board when the waterspout struck, according to witnesses.
Karsten Borner, the skipper of a yacht anchored nearby, described a "very strong hurricane gust" that hit. He was battling to keep his vessel steady when suddenly "we noticed that the ship behind us was gone".
"First came the wind, then the water -- it was a tornado," said local fisherman Giovanni Lococco, describing the waterspout.
Tornado power
Investigators and experts have been poring over the weather conditions and the design of the "Bayesian", whose 75-metre mast was the world's tallest made from aluminium, according to the Charter World website.
"A waterspout is a narrow column of rotating air below a thunderstorm that occurs over water" and is "part of the same weather 'family' as tornadoes", said Peter Inness, a meteorologist at the University of Reading in Britain, in comments released by the UK's Science Media Centre.
Like tornadoes, they suck up air in a rotating motion, usually causing less damage than tornadoes over land, however.
"Changes in wind direction with height are also needed to set up the rotation of air within the waterspout," said Inness.
While many waterspouts are "fairly inconsequential", lasting just a few seconds, some can pack winds of more than 100 kilometres (62 miles) per hour, said Inness.
"Winds of this strength coinciding with the location of a boat are capable of causing damage or capsize, especially because the wind direction varies very rapidly," he said.
The Mediterranean could be the world's most likely place for waterspouts, due to a warm water surface and a vulnerability to thunderstorms in the summer and autumn, he said.
The Mediterranean this year reached its highest temperature on record, with a daily median of 28.90 degrees Celsius (84 Fahrenheit), according to Spain's leading institute of marine sciences.
Experts say the temperature has often hit 30 degrees Celsius or more, about three degrees above average.
"We could have had a superposition of air and water suction with shearing winds that ultimately created something that lifted up," said Jean-Marie Dumon, a former naval officer now with the GICAN, the French maritime industry association.
The conditions with winds of 100kph or more can "create completely anarchic sea conditions which can cause capsizing," said Dumon.
The tall mast may have had an "amplifier effect" in taking the yacht to its "tipping point", he explained.
Dumon said the "Bayesian" was certainly designed by naval architects to cope with extreme winds and heavy seas.
"Here we have wind shear which can cause instability."

"The fact that the vessel itself was not damaged... suggests that it was laid on its side", said the expert.

VSY 64m superyacht Atomic launched
Italian yard VSY has launched the 64 metre superyacht previously known as Project 003 at a ceremony in Livorno.
Now named Atomic , the yacht was launched on June 10 after being transported there on a flatboat. She will now sail back to Viareggio for completion and final delivery.
The 63.8 metre yacht, which was sold and overseen by Jean-Claude Carme of Thompson, Westwood & White Yachts, features exterior design by Espen Øino with interiors by French studio Darnet Design .
The general arrangement features six suites, including an owner’s cabin with panoramic views out to sea and exterior terraces, while an aft-facing skylounge boasts uninterrupted vistas thanks to its minimal structural design. Accommodation is for 12 guests, while the crew quarters have been designed for a staff of up to 16.
Darnet Design founder Franck Darnet previously described the interior décor as “warm contemporary”, using textured leather panels and honed marble to create a cosy atmosphere. The woodwork will feature walnut and high-gloss elm, while metal inserts will be made from stainless steel and brushed nickel.
Other key features on board this VSY superyacht will include a bridge deck gymnasium and a 12-person dive centre on the lower deck. Meanwhile, the superyacht sundeck will feature an infinity pool, fire pit and separate bar area.
Atomic features a bulbous bow for better seakeeping in rough conditions, with naval architecture created by British studio Laurent Giles .
Power will come from a pair of 2,682hp Caterpillar 3516B engines for an estimated top speed of 17 knots, while the total fuel capacity of 163,000 litres should allow for a globetrotting maximum range of 5,200 nautical miles at 12 knots.
Atomic is the fourth superyacht from VSY, with the Italian yard also responsible for launching Sealyon , RoMa and Stella Maris .
