Discover the Top Power Catamarans for 2024

  • By Yachting Staff
  • Updated: September 10, 2024

Power catamarans have seen a surge in popularity, growing both in size and appeal. These cruise-focused yachts offer homelike comfort, fuel efficiency and user-friendly operation, making them a favorite among avid travelers. Their popularity extends to the bareboat charter market for the same reasons.

In this article, we explore the world’s top power catamarans, ranging from a 36-footer ideal for a cruising couple to a 78-footer perfect for entertaining friends and family. The propulsion options are diverse, including outboards, diesel inboards, hybrids, and even all-solar setups.

Top Luxury Power Catamarans

The following power catamarans are all vessels we’ve reviewed. They are listed in no particular order.

  • Fountaine Pajot MY44 : A family-oriented cat suitable for long-range cruising and aimed at owner-operators.
  • Silent Yachts 60 : This is a catamaran that can cruise comfortably for long distances using emissions-free solar-electric propulsion.
  • Horizon PC74 : With interior and deck space like a much larger vessel, the PC74 is perfect for cruising the Bahamas and Caribbean.
  • Aquila 36 : This beefy 36-footer is an outboard-powered, express-cruiser-style catamaran.
  • Lagoon Seventy 8 Powercat : A spacious design, this vessel fits the volume of a 130-foot-long monohull into just 78 feet of length overall.
  • Horizon PC68 : This cat has a stable ride, long range, volume to spare and intriguing layout options.
  • Two Oceans 555 : An elegantly simple yet luxurious 55-foot custom with the space and amenities of a much larger vessel.
  • Lagoon 630 : From its open salon to its spacious decks, the Lagoon is a comfortable and luxurious platform.
  • Fountaine Pajot MY5 : A midsize cruiser with serious big-boat space for family and friends.
  • Prestige Yachts M8 : The voluminous 65-footer lets owners customize onboard spaces.
  • Aquila 47 Molokai : Calling all anglers: This cat has 60-plus-knot speed and is set up for serious bluewater adventure.

Fountaine Pajot MY44

The  Fountaine Pajot MY44 , a creation of Italian architect Pierangelo Andreani and French designer Daniel Andrieu, has a main deck that’s open from the aft-deck seating all the way forward to the starboard helm station. The sense of spaciousness is significant, for several reasons. First, four glass panels aft can all slide to port, creating an indoor-outdoor space with the aft deck and salon. In the salon, 32-inch-high windows extend for 12 feet down the sides of the yacht, with three sections per side, bringing in natural light along with the three forward panes that comprise the windshield. Finally, 6-foot-6-inch headroom provides vertical clearance, with a 21-foot-7-inch beam that adds interior roominess while keeping the yacht stable.

Silent Yachts 60

Solar panels, ocean-crossing range and self-sufficiency define the electric Silent-Yachts 60 power catamaran. If there was any question that the “Tesla moment” has arrived in yachting, the Silent 60 clearly provides a positive response. Consider, for a moment, crossing oceans in silence at 5 to 6 knots without consuming a drop of fuel and never needing to plan your course between fuel stops. Imagine sitting at anchor and running the air conditioning all night, not to mention all the galley appliances plus the washer-dryer, without the hum or fumes from a genset.

Horizon PC74

As founder and director of The Powercat Company, a Horizon Power Catamarans distributor, Stuart Hegerstrom had long believed that catamaran builders needed to design their yachts to more stylish standards.

“The boats were very boxy,” he says, based on his years of experience with cats in the charter market. He and his partner, Richard Ford, asked Horizon to produce models that had high-end finishes and looked good inside and out.

The Horizon team brought in mega-yacht designer JC Espinosa to work with its own craftsmen. The result aboard the  Horizon PC74  is a catamaran with exterior styling, layout and functionality that should appeal to private and charter owners alike.

The Aquila 36  is a departure from her sisterships in that she is an outboard-powered, express-cruiser-style catamaran, but she also adheres to MarineMax’s philosophies.

With a single main living level from bow to stern and a beam of 14 feet 7 inches, the Aquila 36 is like a bowrider on steroids. She has seating that can handle 20 adults for outings and barbecues, and there are two staterooms below, one in each hull, for family weekending. The staterooms have nearly queen-size berths, en suite heads, stowage and 6-foot-6-inch headroom.

Lagoon Seventy 8 Powercat

Lagoon is a division of Groupe Beneteau, the world’s largest builder of sailing yachts, and the  Lagoon Seventy 8 Powercat  is a developmental sistership of its Seventy 7 super sailing cat. The Seventy series yachts are built at Construction Navale Bordeaux in France, which had to add a new yard to construct these catamarans because they require separate stern molds for the power and sail versions.

Horizon PC68

Multihull yachts ride differently than monohulls, often counteracting the sea’s motion for a smoother, more stable ride. On the Horizon PC68 , sharp hull entries make head seas seem gentle, and a Humphree stabilization system with blades reduces roll. Horizon uses SCRIMP construction for resin saturation that maximizes strength with an 111,112-pound displacement. And with a 5-foot-4-inch draft, the PC68 invites island cruising.

Two Oceans 555

With 27-knot speed, house-like volume, an on-deck master and top-tier tech, the Two Oceans 555 is a formidable power catamaran. Dave Jirikovic of HMY Yachts was on a quest. The sales broker was looking for the meanest, nastiest patch of Gulf Stream he could find to show a potential client what the Two Oceans 555 power cat could handle. And just as he had intended to show us, the broad-shouldered power cat didn’t even notice. He even dropped the single-lever throttles back to idle and left the 25-foot-wide Two Oceans 555 beam-on to another set of square-edged seas. The 55-footer brushed that off too. Jirikovic tried quartering into the seas—never a happy angle for catamarans—and the yacht drowsed through them.

Fitted with the optional twin 300-horsepower Volvo Penta D4 diesels, the  Lagoon 630 MY  burns only 1.64 gph total at 6 knots, giving a theoretical range of 2,952 nautical miles with standard tankage of 793 gallons. Hull No. 1 had an optional 502-gallon tank, giving it transatlantic range.

Luxury, stability and economy are all hallmarks of Lagoon’s return to luxury motor yachts. If you can take a ride, it will be worth your time.

Fountaine Pajot MY5

The flybridge deck on the Fountaine Pajot MY5 is a standout feature, offering virtually unobstructed 360-degree ocean views and an elevated beach club vibe. Aft of the off-center starboard helm is a spacious area perfect for entertaining, complete with a wet bar, refrigeration center, and ample seating. It’s the most popular space aboard according to the builder. And if the weather turns for the worse, a second helm station in the saloon allows the skipper to pilot the MY5 in climate-controlled comfort.

Prestige Yachts M8

How fitting it was that Prestige Yachts introduced its new M-Line flagship, the M8 , at Portopiccolo, a picturesque yachting village outside Trieste, Italy. Formerly a quarry, the cliff-side area had been chiseled into a clean site rife with eye-catching vistas, much like the French builder’s 65-foot power catamaran and its nearly 3,000 square feet of usable real estate.

Aquila 47 Molokai

With every boat, there’s an origin story. In the case of the Aquila 47 Molokai power catamaran, it starts with MarineMax, which saw people renting boats for bareboat charters. MarineMax Vacations was born. After experimenting with several production yachts, the company decided to build its own: the Aquila line, designed for charter as well as for sale to owner-operators.

Shimali: On board the largest power catamaran from Sunreef Yachts

Related articles, superyacht directory.

On a sea trial for 29 metre Shimali in Poland’s Gdańsk, Simon de Burton discovers the broad appeal of Sunreef Yachts’ biggest catamaran yet – and of a city steeped in maritime history

Do you remember all those luxury catamarans that used to ply the seas before the turn of the millennium? Probably not – because they didn’t exist. Only since 2002 and the founding of Sunreef Yachts in the Polish city of Gdańsk, has there been such a thing as a series-built luxury catamaran of superyacht size – and, having experienced the yard’s 29 metre, the logic of invoking the power of two seems entirely irrefutable.

French entrepreneur Francis Lapp started Sunreef 20 years ago and, while it remains a family firm, it has grown steadily to incorporate a workforce of over 1,800 people that includes an in-house team of interior and exterior designers, naval architects and engineers. More than 175 Sunreef yachts, sail- or power-driven, have now been delivered, and the yard is currently tackling its most ambitious project to date – a remarkable 49-metre catamaran. It would have been worth making the trip to Gdańsk just to see the giant structure taking shape, but the city’s maritime history is fascinating in itself.

The massive yards that occupy hundreds of hectares alongside the mighty Vistula River were born from the wreckage of the German Schichau-Werft and Danziger Werft yards, pummelled by Allied bombers during the Second World War. The state-owned businesses that emerged from them initially focused on building and repairing trains before moving on to produce fishing smacks, rescue boats and, eventually, cargo ships and vessels for the navies of the Eastern Bloc. Perhaps more famously, in 1980 the Gdańsk Shipyard became the site of Lech Walesa’s first Solidarity stand against communist dictatorships when 17,000 shipbuilders downed tools in a strike that kick-started the collapse of communism across Eastern Europe. Ferries, tugs, fishing boats and specialist craft for offshore industries became the yards’ bread and butter throughout the 1990s, after which the number of workers dwindled, buildings became derelict and production largely ground to a halt – despite a European Commission-backed restructuring plan to revitalise this historic area and reconnect it with the city.

Although that was unsuccessful, the now well-established presence of Sunreef a little further up the river has done wonders for Gdańsk’s maritime renaissance – not least through the current expansion of the business with the recent opening of a new yard on a vast five-hectare site with 20,000 square metres of buildings. Eight are build sheds capable of accommodating the ever more extravagant projects commissioned by catamaran converts keen to exploit the many benefits of a twin-hull design.

To date, the apotheosis of those benefits is to be found in the 100 Sunreef Power, which we were fortunate enough to sail on Gdańsk’s first clear day, following a prolonged spell of foul weather that heralded the arrival of a typically harsh winter.

As soon as we set foot on the giant catamaran – named Shimali by her Israeli owners – it becomes obvious that this is a boat that will always be a pleasure to spend time on, even in the worst of weather (assuming, of course, that on such days she would be safely tied up in the marina).

We board via a hydraulic aft platform that serves as stowage for a five-metre RIB and levels with the side skirts to transform into a beach club that provides smooth access for launching, swimming and using the jet skis that live in the garage beneath. It also gives access to a deck that reveals just what a difference an extra hull makes: the 13.5-metre beam permits a vast and airy saloon that offers sufficient volume for some serious entertaining.

The owners’ top priority for the first yacht they commissioned was to create a “home from home” – something they have set out to achieve with the type of traditional chairs and sofas which one might expect to see in a Victorian villa rather than on board a state-of-the-art luxury catamaran.

To the right of two green Dralon-covered Chesterfield sofas, a pair of striped armchairs and a large, glass-topped coffee table sitting on a dusty pink, deep pile rug, is a massive bar made from illuminated rose quartz panels, just a few metres from a superbly appointed main galley. It’s the owner’s choice.

“Like all our boats, each 100 Sunreef Power will be a truly bespoke build, meaning we were able to create the layout of hull No 1 to the exact specification of the owner,” says Sunreef PR manager Artur Połoczański. “He wanted a true home from home where he could spend time with his family and live a very similar life to that which he lives on land, only while out at sea or moored in a marina.

“Other people might wish to use the space occupied by the bar in a different way or have a gym in a different place. The galley area on Shimali , for example, could also be used for the master suite to take full advantage of the boat’s exceptional beam. The point is, there are many possibilities when you have so much lateral space to play with.”

On Shimali , the galley, protected by a magic glass screen that turns opaque at the touch of a switch, is flanked by a seating area to starboard and, unexpectedly, a miniature mirrored gym to port, complete with treadmill – a set-up that, if nothing else, should make it easy to ask the chef to prepare exactly what you fancy after those high-impact workouts.

The unusual use of space demonstrates just how versatile the catamaran configuration can be, and that doesn’t apply only to the saloon. The 100 Sunreef Power can accommodate a dozen guests but, in the case of Shimali , this has been reduced to 10 in favour of an impressively large master suite down in the port hull. As well as effortlessly swallowing a king-size bed (complete with a head-on sea view), the accommodation offers sufficient space for additional seating and a huge bathroom that discreetly hides the suite’s wardrobes and cupboards and is decorated with metro wall tiles and classic black and white flooring.

The VIP cabin in the same hull is also impressively appointed, again with a king-size bed, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space and a smaller – but still generous – bathroom finished in the same style. Three further en suite cabins in the opposite hull account for the other six guests, while crew quarters take the form of two cabins in the bow and one aft.

Back upstairs, the full-beam bow terrace offers a 30-square- metre expanse of clear, usable space that owners of similar-length monohull superyachts could only dream of, with Shimali ’s owners opting to have it fitted-out with luxurious corner seating and a full-width sunpad.

Taking the long walk back to the stern area, meanwhile, brings one to a 25-square-metre aft deck with an al fresco dining table that can easily accommodate all 10 guests – and that leaves arguably the most impressive entertainment area still to come in the form of the 85-square-metre flybridge that’s accessed from a single set of steps. There, you’ll find an additional bar and catering island, another expansive dining table and more soft furnishings – plus the option to transform the area into an  open-air cinema. There’s also a flybridge lounge with additional passenger seating and, towards the stern, a spa pool.

But having lots of space for lots of people isn’t the only benefit of a catamaran – because the storage areas below decks are cavernous, too. A cold room hides no fewer than six freezers, another hold contains washing machines and dryers, and the access to the twin MAN 1,300-horsepower engines is an engineer’s dream.

Tour over, it is time to head-off along the Vistula towards the Gdańsk Bay at the opening to the Baltic. And, up on the flybridge, Baltic it certainly is. Such nippy conditions are nothing new to our captain for the day, the heavily bearded Dominik Dobrowski. After 30 years in the Polish Navy, he knows a thing or two about handling large boats – but overseeing Shimali is clearly not something he takes lightly.

“Piloting a large catamaran takes an additional level of skill and concentration, especially going in and out of marinas or travelling on rivers with a lot of smaller vessels – it’s simply down to the considerable amount of extra width,” he explains.

But even gently cruising out to sea, the pros of big cat travel are evident. So rock steady is Shimali , in fact, that back in the comfort of the saloon, it is easy to forget that we are moving. Any motion caused by the wake from other boats is barely perceptible and, once in the open sea, the 100 Sunreef Power’s transatlantic capability really becomes apparent.

“Our engineers designed an innovative hull shape for this motor yacht for increased comfort and performance,” says yacht design director Agnieszka Bliźniuk. “The 100 Sunreef Power is a superyacht addition to Sunreef’s new power range. It stands out with a sporty hull line, a vast flybridge and a pioneering combination of a garage system and stern platform.”

For this reason and more, Nicolas Lapp, son of Sunreef’s founder, says the firm is attracting ever more customers from monohulls as the benefits of catamarans come to be more widely appreciated. “To obtain the same volume in a conventional motor yacht you would need to go to 36 or 40 metres in length,” Lapp explains. “With the 100 Power, you get 500 square metres of living space but with less complications, less crew, easier management and lower running costs than could be expected with a monohull. The broad beam also enables us to build higher without losing stability, yet the twin hulls are extremely efficient and have very good handling characteristics. We sold two more 100 Powers while the first one was still in the yard and, although the boats cost around €10 million, we are receiving a lot of enquiries from people who are either thinking of switching to the catamaran format or who want one as a first boat.”

Lapp says there is also considerable interest in fitting the boats with Sunreef’s class-leading eco power systems, which combine powerful electric motors with a solar power set-up developed in-house to charge a network of ultra-light batteries.

Well, eco homes are all the rage these days – and no one said they have to be on land.

Best power catamarans: 6 of the best models on the market right now

  • Top stories

Power catamarans have become so popular in recent years. Alex Smith talks us through 6 of the most exciting models we've covered in the past 12 months...

With the promise of extra volume stability and running efficiency it’s easy to see why power catamarans have become so popular in recent years.

Established players like Sunreef , Leopard and Lagoon have been joined by new builders like Vandal, Archipelago and Moon Yachts.

Big brands like Prestige have also made them move into twin hulled motorboats in recent years, and the likes of Bluegame and Wider Yachts look set to follow suit.

So with the trend showing no signs of slowing here’s our round-up of some of the most exciting new power catamarans you can buy right now.

Prestige M48

Prestige’s first ever power catamaran is designed to provide the volume of a 60 footer alongside the running efficiency of a 40 footer, but the way it manages all that onboard space is also quite attractive.

A three-part aft swim platform features a raising central section to help extend the cockpit party out over the water. The foredeck mimics that with freestanding furniture right at the forepeak and between them the saloon includes a big-aft galley, a large port lounge and a compact helm with a handy starboard side door.

From here private stairwells to the forward owner’s cabin and each of the two guest cabins provide plenty of privacy, and the split design of the port ensuite means it works really well as a day head.

In terms of styling the freestanding bow furniture looks a bit odd, and in terms of dynamics the stooping bridge deck does tend to touch down when the swells get beyond a couple of feet.

But if you want an accessible, novice-friendly boat that provides a party platform way out of proportion to its length, the first model in Prestige’s M line has a lot going for it. And if you have the budget, the more recent Prestige M8 is an even more convincing piece of work.

Moon Power 60

As a modified sailing cat, the Moon Power 60’s beam stands at a massive 53% of its overall length and that has a very clear impact on the inside.

In spite of huge side decks with dual access to the flybridge , the internal saloon occupies an enormous footprint. It’s used for a pair of peripheral seating areas plus a forward door to access a lovely sunken bow lounge.

Visibility from the lower helm is restricted by the big stuts that sit sailboat-style toward the centre of the screen, but performance is pretty impressive: a pair of 3,500L tanks give you a 2,000nm range at 8 knots with a fuel flow of just 3lpm, and if you really want to boost the range there’s plenty of space for extra fuel capacity too.

Up on the flybridge there’s a big symmetrical lounge and a hot tub flanked by sunbeds, and down below the two hulls borrow a bit of inboard space for four ensuite cabins.

The simplistic saloon arrangement, the absence of a day heads, and the sheer masculinity of that styling might prove a bit problematic for some, but if you’re okay with a modified sailing cat, and you’re happy to work with the yard to refine that deck layout, this big imposing long-distance boat is unlike anything else out there.

Invincible 33

Invincible is a well-respected American Builder with a strong offshore sports fishing heritage and close links with the US Navy, but it also builds high-performance power catamarans, and this impressive 33-footer is the entry point to that fleet.

It uses quite a narrow beam with asymmetrical chines and spray rails, which enable it to heel into a turn in much the same fashion as a monohull and to ride the chop without spitting clouds of spray over that bow.

Capable of 56 knots with twin 400hp Verado outboards , it can also reportedly achieve cruising economy of just 2.5lpm for a range of around 500nm.

The internal arrangements are also really practical – with high capacity deck drains and an automatic fresh water flushing system for the outboards you can simply hose this boat down after a trip and get on with your day.

The fuss-free fit out includes multiple bait wells as well as lots of drained, insulated lockers that do a great job as ice chests and storage spaces, and the squared off bow provides lots of seating to supplement the big open deck of that half cockpit.

It might be built with fishing in mind, but as a rapid offshore performance machine, this might just be the perfect power catamaran for monohull lovers.

archipelago-47-catamaran-sea-trial-review-video-best-power-catamarans

Archipelago 47

The Archipelago 47 is a seriously good looking boat. Built from aluminum on the Isle of Wight with design input from commercial specialist Chartwell Marine, its low roofline, reverse screen, wide beams, slender forward hulls, and raised bridge deck give it a seriously potent profile, and that’s precisely what this boat is all about.

The idea is to deliver proper long distance offshore performance alongside a handy turn of pace in a homely fit out, and the Archipelago delivers that.

Built from 8mm hull plating with 6mm topsides, this Category A boat is rated to carry 12 people and sleep up to eight people in four cabins.

Reserving one entire hull for the owner’s suite is a really attractive option, but in all cases headroom is great and huge vertical picture windows provide amazing views from bed level.

The saloon features a large galley and lounge, as well as a raised helm with a shut-off partition for night nav. There are still some design tweaks required, particularly at the helm and the aft end, to maximise this boat’s potential, and if you want a flybridge you’ll need to look toward the Archipelago 52 instead, because on this particular boat that’s not an option.

But with space up top for all kinds of expedition friendly tenders, toys, cranes and solar panels, this tough go anywhere power catamaran has plenty going for it.

vandal-explorer-sea-trial-review-best-power-catamarans

Vandal Explorer

As a foil-assisted, outboard-powered, flybridge equipped, aluminium power catamaran, the Vandal Explorer is certainly not the mainstream choice, but of course it was never designed to be.

Created by Ben Mennem, who wants to enjoy the sun-drenched waters of the Med, in collaboration with Norwegian designer Espen Oeino, who loves outdoor adventures in the Nordic States, it seems to straddle both camps.

It uses a wide open main deck with skeletal bars rather than rigid bulkheads to keep you properly in touch with the sea. There’s also a big aft platform between the Verado XTO outboards, which operates as a passerelle, and thanks to a ladder and rain shower does a great job for watersports too.

Ahead of the cockpit lounge there’s a big transverse galley tucked inside the shelter of the pilothouse structure, and there’s also a raised full-beam bow cabin with a separate incinerator toilet.

It’s a bit noisy on that main deck when you’re underway and the limited two-berth arrangement of the base boat is likely to compel some people to question its overall practicality.

But as a tough and lightweight 40-knot boat with space for 14 people, a cool off-grid aesthetic and all the custom friendly flexibility you could want, its simplicity is actually a really key part of its appeal.

aquila-44-MBY278.newboat_9.AQ5-best-power-catamarans

The Aquila 44 is a proper wide-beam cruising cat

Built at Sino Eagle’s 1million sqft facility in China and developed in collaboration with the renowned J&J Design Group, Aquila is a specialist power catamaran builder and that absolutely shows.

Capable of up to 20 knots with the top rated Volvo Penta D4 420s, the Aquila 44 uses bow bulbs for extra waterline length, a softer ride and improved stability at displacement speeds.

But is the way it uses its 21ft beam that really impresses. In the aft cockpit a convivial c-shape dinette sits opposite a fold-out bar at the aft galley.

At the bow a set of steps connects the foredeck lounge directly to the flybridge, which is great for practicality as well as for large partie, and up top a central walkaround helm pod keeps things more sociable and inclusive than on any other boat in this class.

There’s a proper main deck helm too if you want it, plus sleeping for six in three private ensuite cabins, including a brilliant owner’s cabin that occupies the full beam beneath that foredeck.

If you need extra performance and style you could of course look toward the brand’s smaller, narrow-beamed, outboard-powered sport line, but for proper power catamaran lovers this big, cleverly arranged entertainment platform feels exactly right.

A Sunreef Yachts luxury catamaran sailing on the ocean.

The new 80 Sunreef Power is a universal multihull yacht for long cruises in ultimate comfort. Taking luxury and seaworthiness to a new dimension, this dynamic and elegant craft enters the Sunreef Yachts range, redefining the authentic electric catamaran design. The 80ft yacht ’s dynamic hull and superstructure stretch the living spaces to the extreme, offering infinite options for a bespoke layout and décor.

With a bold, contemporary hull styling, the 80 Sunreef Power incorporates classic stainless steel portlights, teak sole decks, high bulwarks, and subtle ambience lighting. Her massive garage combined with an aft platform allows this luxury catamaran to take her dinghy, numerous water toys, and jet-ski anywhere she goes. Easily accessed from the saloon, the yacht’s full-beam bow terrace is a vast, soothing retreat with amazing amounts of space for sunning and lounging. The 80 Sunreef Power’s immense flybridge offers enough breadth to house a spa pool, a wet bar and generous seating all around.

One of the most spectacular features on board the 80ft yacht is the master suite which can be set up in the bow section of the main deck. With a double bed facing the bow terrace, a bathroom with a walk-in shower, dressing and desk, the suite is bathed in sun from the skylight glazing. The same space can also be used to install a large lounge with ample seating and access to the foredeck.

The main saloon opens wide onto the aft cockpit to combine the electric power catamaran ’s dining space with the outdoor relaxation areas, where more seating is available along with a wet bar. The fully customizable saloon can also accommodate a large galley, depending on the layout selected and houses an elevated interior navigation station.

The immense volumes in the hulls of the luxury catamaran give plenty of room to tailor every unit’s layout to the most specific requirements. The crew quarters along with the galley and crew mess can be accessed directly from the aft cockpit for more privacy on board. Multiple layout configurations are available to set up luxurious guest cabins for a supreme level of comfort on board.

Do not miss out on the 80 Sunreef Power Eco, a solar catamaran that excels in performance with its vibration-free, fume-less, and ultra-silent operations.

Sunreef 100 Sail Catamaran

For Sunreef Yachts, size matters. Over the past few years, the Polish shipyard has steadily been bolstering its fleet with large and luxurious catamarans. The latest one spans a lofty 100 feet.

Nicknamed the “mega-cat,” the Sunreef 100 was designed in-house and joins the yard’s ever-expanding line of sailing multihulls that runs the gamut from a nimble 50-footer all the way up to a spacious 80-footer . Sunreef says its newest craft is made for cruising worldwide in total luxury, and judging by its specs, it’ll have plenty of room to accommodate the high life.

Built in composite, the cat sports a sleek silhouette and clean lines that reflect Sunreef’s DNA. It’s equipped with twin 280 hp engines and a stately sail to supplement propulsion. This not only increases the Sunreef 100’s efficiency but also makes it more eco-friendly.

The spacious interior is fully customizable, of course.  Sunreef Yachts

The vessel’s 42-foot beam creates an impressive living space that measures just shy of 4,700 square feet. The customizable interior features luxe accommodation for 12 guests and owners can opt to incorporate a spa area, office, bar and/or fitness room.

Outside, the vessel sports a large flybridge and bow terrace for alfresco wining and dining. It’s also equipped with a hydraulic platform aft that doubles as a beach club when lowered for seaside entertaining. Elsewhere, there is a garage that can store a pair of Jetskis.

The debut of the Sunreef 100 comes shortly after the yard delivered the ultra-modern 80-foot Great White to tennis star Rafael Nadal and signals its commitment toward this new type of multihull.

Sunreef isn’t the only yacht builder taking things bigger, either. Catamarans have slowly been getting larger and more luxurious . For proof, look no further than recent launches such as Lagoon’s Sixty 7 ,  Horizon’s PC74 and the Aquila 70 .

It looks like there’ll be plenty more mega-cats prowling the seas.
