Not a sailor but love to sail? There may soon be a yacht just for you. A new “smartyacht” concept promises to sail itself, and all you’ll need is your smartphone.

The futuristic 85-foot Drakkar S is the brainchild of yacht design studio Max Zhivov . The autonomous vessel is envisioned as a solution for wannabe seafarers who have little to no sailing experience yet want to be at the helm of a superyacht.

The concept is equipped with a high-tech autopilot system that uses the latest artificial intelligence technology to navigate. The studio says the vessel would even be able to approach a berth at the right distance for mooring and identify surfaces or underwater obstacles by itself. This not only simplifies the steering process for amateurs but also means that no captain is required. Think of it the self-driving Tesla of the sea.

What’s more, Drakkar S could be controlled directly from an app on your smartphone. The idea is that you charter the yacht for a short trip of one to four days. Once aboard, you choose a destination via the app and the system will automatically chart a course and set sail.

Oddly enough, Drakkar S was actually inspired by the ye olde flat-bottomed longships of the Viking Age. The Viking’s sleek and speedy vessels were actually quite advanced for the time, with the largest longships capable of traveling up to 10 knots under sail. These Drakkar or “dragon ships” were named for their dragon-shaped bow and were particularly feared by enemies. Drakkar S intends to be a little less intimidating but equally as efficient.

The svelte design is fitted with a state-of-the-art electric motor, along with 861 square feet of solar panels that cover the roof. This means Drakkar S would offer a clean, quiet and emissions-free cruising experience just like the Norsemen’s vessels.

Onboard, meanwhile, the vessel is on par with any other luxury yacht in class. She features an expansive main salon with a roof that can pop open just like a Cabriolet. Elsewhere, there’s a well-equipped kitchen, two master cabins, two guest cabins and the must-have swim platform.

165 Viatorem // Max Zhivov // Otobot

The 165 viatorem is a 50m explorer motor yacht by max zhivov, otobot, and the shipyard u4 marine..

In addition to the 130 Viatorem , the project stakeholders present the flagship 165 Viatorem – a 50m explorer yacht with steel hull and aluminum superstructure.

Russia-based yacht designer Max Zhivov made the exterior design together with the Turkish company Otobot . The shipyard is U4 Marine – also from Turkey.

Like her smaller sister, the vessel appears with a bold look but a more extended rear area to pickup tenders and to welcome a helicopter, respectively, a transportation drone.

The superstructure of the 165 Viatorem features large glass surfaces to ensure a lot of daylight in the interior and to enjoy magnificent views.

The owners’ cabin is on the main deck forward and features a private fold-out balcony. The outside area has a pool with sunbeds and a swimming platform aft while seatings, a bar, and more sunbeds are on the shaded sundeck.

This Is Superyacht Concept Black Iceberg Designed By Max Zhivov

It’s inspired by an iceberg, obvious!

Maybe it's not the best to associate icebergs with ships, but we have to admit that yacht concept Black Iceberg looks really good.

This is the work of Russian Max Zhivov. "The inspiration for this concept was icebergs, Viking boats and the atmosphere of Scandinavian nature. The main idea of project is ‘broken surface’ so the sides of yacht look like ice block" , said the author of the design.

The 35m long superyacht carries the name Black Iceberg and can reach a top speed of 26 knots. She is made of carbon fibre and uses 32 square meters of solar panels.

The use of carbon fibre was justified by the reduction of weight that permits greater speed and cruising range.

Black Iceberg will have four cabins, so she can accommodate eight guests. The crew quarters are situated in the stern.

‘your yacht – your home — combines elements of architecture and luxury boat design. created by maxim zhivov, the conceptual super-yacht is both residence and ship . from the front, its prominent nose gives it a similar appeal to classic rum-runners. as it passes, the open stern evokes scenery not unfamiliar to a small suburban home. zhivov focused heavily on the application of solar energy throughout, and includes transforming capabilities that alter multiple sections of the craft.
