Finally, we set sail for Agia Efimia, on the island of Kefalonia. It is a small fishing village situated in a small harbor, where you can visit a number of taverns and typical restaurants, as well as a traditional bakery baked in a wood-fired oven. In the evening, you can go ashore for a stroll through the streets of this beautiful village and sample local dishes in a typical restaurant, perhaps with a view of a beautiful sunset!
We sail north and land on the island of Kefalonia, which with its secluded bays and shallow-water sea caves is a true paradise for sea and nature lovers. Enjoy lunch on board as we sail to Fiskardo, also known as the Saint Tropez of the Ionian Islands. Here you can visit the beautiful beaches of Antisamos and Harami. Typical restaurants and tavernas are everywhere, all you have to do is choose which one you prefer for dinner ashore.
Today we set sail for Nidri, the most famous port of Lefkada. While you are here you can visit the local markets, full of typical products, souvenirs and other surprises! Upon request, you can also participate in an olive oil tasting (optional paid activity). Lefkada offers a beautiful mix of crystal-clear waters and verdant forest landscapes.
In the morning, after a sweet breakfast on board our gulet, we arrive at Meganisi, less well known than the more famous Corfu, but just as picturesque. The immaculate white pebble beaches, contrasting with the beautiful blue sea and lush green countryside make this place a true paradise on earth. Once ashore, you can easily explore the island with a scooter or rental car, by bike or even on foot. Enjoy the view of the sea while indulging in the local specialities offered by the countless restaurants in the area.
After a good breakfast, we head south to Ithaca, one of the most beautiful islands in the region, described as one of the most beautiful villages in the region: Ithaca. On the way, we will first make a stop on the island of Atokos, where wild piglets live freely. We will have lunch on board while sailing to Ithaca, after which we will spend an afternoon relaxing in one of the island's many secluded bays or go ashore for a bus tour of the island (optional activity for a fee). Overnight stay on board in the roadstead.
Before returning to the island of Zakynthos, we take the opportunity to admire its long sandy beaches. We visit the beautiful "wreck beach" and the village on the east coast of the island, enjoying a lunch on board, illuminated by the blue water. We spend the night in the Marina of Zante Old Town, where we enjoy a delicious Captain’s dinner for a last farewell.

The Ionian Islands, a captivating emerald necklace of seven main islands off Greece’s west coast, beckon travelers with their pristine beaches, unforgettable turquoise waters, and lush Mediterranean landscapes. Among these gems, Kefalonia stands out, boasting dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, and a rich cultural tapestry. But how best to explore this paradise? Enter the gulet yacht charter – a traditional wooden vessel that offers an unparalleled blend of comfort, authenticity, and adventure.
The Ionian Islands are a dreamscape for seafarers, with their gentle winds, calm waters, and a plethora of secluded bays and picturesque harbors. Unlike the Cyclades, known for their strong Meltemi winds, the Ionians offer a more serene sailing experience, making them ideal for families, couples, and groups seeking a relaxing yet adventurous getaway.
The archipelago comprises seven main islands – Corfu, Paxos, Lefkada, Ithaca, Kefalonia, Zakynthos (Zante), and Kythira – each with its own distinct character and charm. From the Venetian-influenced architecture of Corfu to the vibrant nightlife of Zakynthos, the Ionian Islands offer a diverse range of experiences for every taste.
Beyond their cultural richness, the Ionian Islands boast stunning natural beauty. Kefalonia’s Myrtos Beach, often hailed as one of the world’s most beautiful, is a must-see, with its dramatic cliffs and turquoise waters. Melissani Cave, an underground lake illuminated by sunlight filtering through a collapsed roof, is another natural wonder not to be missed.
The gulet, a traditional wooden yacht with origins in Turkey, is the perfect vessel for exploring the Ionian Islands. These handcrafted boats, with their spacious decks, comfortable cabins, and experienced crews, offer an authentic and immersive way to experience the region’s beauty and charm.
The sailing season in the Ionian Islands typically runs from April to October, with peak season being July and August. If you prefer a quieter experience with fewer crowds, consider visiting in the shoulder seasons (April-May, September-October). The weather is still pleasant, and you’ll find better deals on gulet charters.
Kefalonia, the largest of the Ionian Islands, is a microcosm of the region’s allure. Its diverse landscape ranges from dramatic cliffs and secluded coves to fertile valleys and verdant vineyards. The island is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering hiking trails, water sports, and opportunities to explore ancient ruins and charming villages.
Kefalonia’s crown jewel, Myrtos Beach, is a crescent of white pebbles framed by towering cliffs and lapped by turquoise waters. This iconic beach has graced countless postcards and travel magazines, and it’s easy to see why. The views from the clifftop are breathtaking, and the water is so clear that you can see the seabed from afar.
A short drive from Myrtos Beach lies Melissani Cave, a mesmerizing underground lake illuminated by sunlight filtering through a collapsed roof. Take a boat ride through the cave to admire the shimmering water and the stalactites and stalagmites that adorn the walls.
Nestled on a picturesque peninsula, Assos is a charming village with pastel-colored houses, narrow streets, and a Venetian fortress perched on a hilltop. Stroll through the village, enjoy a meal at a waterfront taverna, or hike to the fortress for panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Kefalonia is an excellent starting point for gulet yacht charters in the Ionian Islands . Several charter companies offer round trips from Agia Efimia, a charming fishing village on the east coast. These itineraries typically include visits to neighboring islands like Ithaca, Lefkada, and Meganisi, as well as secluded coves and hidden beaches that are only accessible by boat.
Kefalonia is a foodie paradise, with a rich culinary tradition that blends Greek and Italian influences. Don’t miss the opportunity to sample local specialties like meat pie, Kefalonian cheese, and Robola wine. Many gulet charters include onboard dining, with the chef preparing fresh, flavorful meals using local ingredients.
While Kefalonia is a captivating destination, the other Ionian Islands offer a wealth of experiences for gulet charter enthusiasts. Each island boasts its own unique character, landscape, and cultural heritage, making island hopping a delightful adventure.
Known for its dramatic cliffs, turquoise lagoons, and excellent windsurfing conditions, Lefkada is a haven for water sports enthusiasts. The island’s west coast is dotted with stunning beaches like Porto Katsiki and Egremni, accessible only by boat.
Steeped in mythology, Ithaca is said to be the home of Odysseus, the legendary hero of Homer’s epic poem. Explore the island’s ancient ruins, charming villages, and secluded coves, and let your imagination wander as you trace the footsteps of Odysseus.
Famous for its vibrant nightlife and the iconic Navagio Beach (Shipwreck Beach), Zakynthos is a popular destination for young travelers and partygoers. But the island also offers quieter corners, like the loggerhead sea turtle nesting beaches on the south coast.
The northernmost of the Ionian Islands, Corfu is a cultural melting pot with a rich history shaped by Venetian, French, and British influences. Explore the island’s elegant old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or visit the Achilleion Palace, a former royal residence with stunning gardens.
These two small islands offer a tranquil escape from the crowds. Paxos is known for its charming villages, olive groves, and crystal-clear waters, while Antipaxos boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the Ionian Sea.
A popular gulet charter itinerary in the Ionian Islands is a one-week round trip starting from Lefkada. This itinerary typically includes stops at Ithaca, Kefalonia, and Zakynthos, with ample time for swimming, snorkeling, exploring ashore, and enjoying onboard activities.
One of the main reasons why the Ionian Islands are a top destination for gulet charters is their favorable sailing conditions. The winds are generally calm and predictable, making it safe and comfortable to sail even for those who are new to yachting. The water temperature is also pleasant, averaging 24-26°C (75-79°F) in the summer months, making swimming and snorkeling a delight.
The Ionian Islands’ unique geography also contributes to their sailing appeal. The islands are relatively close together, making it easy to hop from one to another. The coastlines are dotted with sheltered bays and coves, providing ample opportunities for anchoring and exploring ashore.
A gulet yacht charter is not just a mode of transportation; it’s a floating haven that offers a unique blend of comfort, adventure, and cultural immersion. These traditional wooden yachts are designed to provide a luxurious and relaxing experience, while also allowing you to explore the Ionian Islands’ hidden gems and immerse yourself in their rich history and culture.
Gulets are known for their elegant wooden construction, spacious decks, and comfortable cabins. They typically feature a large salon, an alfresco dining area, and plenty of sunbathing space. While the design is rooted in tradition, modern gulets are equipped with all the amenities you would expect from a luxury yacht, including air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, and state-of-the-art entertainment systems.
One of the highlights of a gulet charter is the dedicated crew that caters to your every need. The crew typically includes an experienced captain, a chef, and deckhands who are responsible for navigation, meals, and onboard activities. They are knowledgeable about the local area and can recommend the best places to visit, swim, and dine.
A typical day on a gulet charter begins with a leisurely breakfast on deck, followed by a morning of swimming, snorkeling, or exploring a new destination. After a delicious lunch prepared by the onboard chef, you might opt for an afternoon siesta, a hike to a scenic viewpoint, or a visit to a local winery. As the sun sets, enjoy cocktails and dinner on deck, followed by stargazing or a movie under the stars.
When packing for your gulet charter, remember that space is limited, and you’ll be spending most of your time in swimwear or casual attire. Pack light, breathable clothing, comfortable shoes for walking and hiking, and a hat and sunglasses for sun protection. Don’t forget to bring a waterproof bag for your electronics and valuables, as well as any medications you might need.
Gulet yacht charters in the Ionian Islands offer a range of options to suit different budgets, group sizes, and preferences. Whether you’re seeking an intimate getaway for two, a family adventure, or a celebration with friends, there’s a chartering option that’s perfect for you.
For the ultimate in luxury and exclusivity, a private gulet charter is the way to go. You’ll have the entire yacht to yourself, with a dedicated crew catering to your every whim. You can customize your itinerary, choose your activities, and enjoy a truly personalized experience. Private charters are ideal for couples seeking a romantic getaway, families wanting to spend quality time together, or groups celebrating a special occasion.
Many gulet charter companies offer early bird discounts for bookings made several months in advance. If you’re planning your trip well in advance, be sure to inquire about these discounts to save on your charter costs.
When choosing a gulet charter , consider your budget, group size, desired level of privacy, and interests. If you value privacy and flexibility, a private charter is the best option. If you’re on a budget or prefer a more social experience, a cabin charter might be a better fit. If you’re new to sailing or want a hassle-free experience, a crewed charter is the way to go. And if you’re an experienced sailor seeking complete freedom, a bareboat charter might be the perfect adventure.
The Ionian Islands offer a treasure trove of destinations, each with its own unique charm and allure. A bordo tanto comfort, simpatia e bella compagnia!

OurIonian Jewels route focuses on the place where modern day island hopping started back in the early 1970s – the Ionian. It’s a chain of islands a short sail from Athens with a huge diversity of culture ranging from well known ‘party places’ like Corfu to spiritual Ithaka, the birthplace of Odyssen, and some small off-the-beaten track places you might never have heard of.
It’s a combination of places that celebrate Greece both ancient and modern. You can choose to walk barefoot in the sands, cycle up a hill and watch the sun set into Homer’s wine dark Ionian Sea, enjoy octopus and ouzo in a fisherman’s taverna or party the night away in a cosmopolitan club.
There are no future departures for this trip at this stage.

Day 1: Corfu - Kassiopi
You'll start your journey from Corfu’s Old Port, which brims with tavernas, antique shops and markets. If you have some free time ahead of embarking, be sure to visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town, which offers a uniquely scenic experience by way of its striking architecture.
After boarding and meeting with the rest of your group, sit down for a lovely welcome dinner and sail on to your first destination, Kassiopi.
Day 2: Sivota - Mourtos
Today you'll experience the ravishing natural beauty of Sivota and Mourtos, south of Corfu’s mainland. Here you'll marvel at vibrant forests, hills cloaked with olive groves, and white-sand beaches - a heavenly scene and a welcome sight for relaxation-seekers and nature-lovers alike. Enjoy a stop amidst the turquoise waters of the Blue Lagoon and uncover the mysteries of Papanikolis cave. Then, spend some free time strolling through the traditional Marina village and, before you return to your ship, be sure to grab something to eat from a local taverna.
Day 3: Parga
It's on to the village of Parga next, an idyllic spot which stuns by way of its Venetian castle, colourful waterfront architecture, and crystal-clear bays - the latter will be particularly attractive to those in search of water sports adventures.
Do note that due to Parga’s undeveloped port infrastructure, limited space is available on the marina; if your gulet is not able to dock at the port, you will need to use a water taxi to reach the shore (chargeable).
Day 4: Antipaxos
Next on the itinary, the small island of Antipaxos is a hidden gem and guarantees a one-of-a-kind experience. Enjoy lunch here before exploring some of the island's most secluded bays, home to the beaches of Voutoumi and Vrika. If the weather permits, you could even suit up for a spot of snorkelling, or perhaps visit one of the island's main towns. Later in the night, dine at a pop-up tavern on a private beach (chargeable), and return to your ship to relax and gaze up at the sparkling night sky.
Day 5: Gaios, Paxos
Best known for its olive oil production, Paxos is a destination you won't want to miss. Surrounded by lush green scenery, here you can let your senses come to life - why not rent a bicycle to visit a secluded cove for a swim or sunbathing session? In the island's capital Gaios, enjoy some traditional Greek seafood at a local taverna - some of these are run by local fishermen!
Day 6: Lakka, Paxos
Secluded coves, sea caves and fabulous diving opportunities await keen explorers in Lakka, which is also home to a small but vibrant village with shallow waters. Now's your chance to acquaint yourself with the local marine life, before indulging further with a hop across the local bars and tavernas.
Please note, your ship cannot dock at Lakka’s marina, and will instead dock at one of its secluded private coves.
Day 7: Corfu
Today you'll arrive back at Corfu’s Old Port in the afternoon, giving you plenty of time to explore the riches of the Old Town at your own pace. From museums and churches to retail therapy, the options for passing the time are plentiful - just don't forget to grab a souvenir or two to take home with you.
