Ionian Islands

  • Information

Gulet Charter in the Ionian.

The Ionian islands are a group of seven main islands that are located on the western coast of Greece. These islands are beautiful and are full of pine forests, lush olive groves and orange orchards that are not found on the other islands. Most of the sailing conditions are calm and predictable, which means that you could sail your luxury yacht during any time of the year depending on your preferences. There are miles of beaches that make this area perfect for almost everyone.

The island of Zakynthos (often referred to as Zante), is a very popular party island for tourists that is a great place if you’re looking for nightclubs, live music and a ton of water activities. It is also the only place in the world to see loggerhead sea turtles in their natural habitat.

There are many other islands that are worth visiting including Corfu, Paxi, Lefkada, Ithaki, Kefalonia, and Kythira. The entire island chain is split into the north and south islands, but can all be visited on a two-week luxury yacht charter.

Pricing Information

All prices are per person and in  GBP  ( £ ). The  Euro  ( € ) prices are based on the currency of 1.10£ to € and are  fixed.

Please note that the prices tend to increase from those listed below, as prices fluctuate, depending on the availability and the period.

Our main periods are:

  • Peak period  (July, August)
  • Shoulder period  (June, September)
  • Low period  (May, October)

The below-stated prices are subject to change without any notice. Keep in mind, that as the departure date of the sailing tour comes closer, the prices might increase, so it is wise to book in advance and secure the cheapest price possible! Once you have paid your 20% deposit, the remaining price of your option stays as it is!

In case of any price increase/decrease, you will be informed in time, accordingly.

  • Prices fluctuate regularly, in line with the demand. Our Price Promise ensures clients, who book early, that they will never have to pay more, than those who book quite after them

All our standard cabins besides, their comfortable mattresses, are ensuite with their own shower, a hair dryer, a wardrobe for storage, reading lights, their own individual A/C device and an electric fan!

Regarding our cabins, we do have a variety of doubles/twins (lower beds/bunk beds) and a few triples and quads, depending on your cruise package and demand.

Our premium cabins are available on the majority of our gulets, always subject to availability. By premium cabin we define cabins that have a separate shower box inside the wc and/or larger space available ( usually2/3 s.m.) from our standard ones. Usually they are located on the stern or the bow of the ship, making them slightly more isolated than the rest of the cabins onboard and they have better sound insulation that the rest since they are bigger.

The only additional charge you need to expect is the local port fees (80€ per person), which need to be paid upon arrival, in order to assure some basic operational needs for the cruise.

If you want to have your own private cabin, there will be an extra charge of 75% of the total amount of 1 person’s price.

We always try to allocate same-gender guests, together (this applies to our solo travelers), however, we cannot guarantee this under unexpected situations.

Our Corfu cruise starts on Saturdays, at 17:00. Disembarkation, also takes place on Saturdays, exactly one week after embarkation, at 09:00.

With this in mind, we start our journey from Corfu’s Old Port, which is full of Greek tavernas, local product markets and plenty of antique shops.

Apart from that, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed “Old Town” offers a unique scenic experience, given its architecture and general structure which is quite unique!

Note: In case that all of our guests are on board by 17:00 and weather conditions allow us to, we might cruise towards our 1st destination which is Plataria.

Sivota - Mourtos

The Ionian Islands are the wettest of the Greek islands, so forget about the typical rugged, rocky coasts of Greece.

The Ionian Sea will amaze you with its lush forests, green hills covered with olive groves, crystal clear waters and sparkling white beaches! You can find this descriptive scenery, hidden among the Sivota – Mourtos Islands, which are located south of Corfu’s mainland.

We arrive here, on the second day and while we are at this island complex, we need to visit its highlights, the blue lagoon and the famous Papanikolis cave!

Later into the day, don’t miss out on strolling through the traditional Marina village and before you leave, be sure to grab something to eat and drink from the numerous idyllic tavern-lined tavernas, which are located on the marina, above the shore!

⚓️ Plataria oil tasting

Parga has been described as one of the most beautiful villages in Greece and undoubtingly, as the most beautiful in the Ionian Sea!

With its two crystal clear bays, each on both sides of the village, its famous Venetian castle, and its numerous bars and water sports facilities, Parga is a must-see for your summer holidays!

Grab your hats and sunglasses, put on plenty of sunscreen and prepare to create some forever-lasting Greek summer memories, at this beautiful, picturesque destination!

Note: Due to Parga’s undeveloped-port infrastructure, there is not plenty of available space, on the marina, which means, that in case the gulet does not manage to dock at the port, you will need to use a water taxi, to reach the shore. The cost, for this, is not included in the overall price package!

⚓️Parga wine tasting

The small island of Antipaxos is a true hidden gem and will be, a one-of-a-kind experience, for you!

While here, we fuel up with lunch, before stopping for some coastal relaxation, at some of the island’s most secluded and tranquil bays, which are home to the famous Greek beaches of Voutoumi and Vrika!

You will have the chance, to snorkel, in the turquoise waters and feel the pebbles under your feet! Take a walk amongst the clifftop and visit one of the three main towns – Gaios, Loggos or Lakka.

Later in the night, we dine at a pop-up beachfront tavern, on a private beach off the public-main coast, and admire the sparkling night sky, from our gulet’s deck!

Note: The late-night dinner, is not included in the initial package price.

Paxos - Gaios

Until recently, Paxos was best known for its excellent olive oil, which is rumored to be one of the world’s, best varieties!

Enjoy the lush green scenery of this tiny island, by renting a bicycle or a bike and head to any of its secluded coves to spend an idyllic summer afternoon, while sunbathing and swimming!

After returning to the city, enjoy some traditional local Greek seafood or even Meze, at one of the many local taverns, which are run by the local fishermen!

⚓️Paxoi Bus Tour

Lakka - Paxos

This part of Paxos Island is packed with secluded coves and sea caves. A true dream, for any sea explorer!

Lakka is home to a small but vibrant village with shallow waters, known as a diving hotspot, for those who want to discover the Ionian Sea, by exploring its underwater wonders!

With multiple bars and tavernas, off the coast, Lakka is the epitome of Greek charm!

Note: The vessel cannot dock at Lakka’s marina, that is why we dock at one, of its numerous, secluded private coves!

We arrive at Corfu’s Old Port, in the afternoon, which means that we will have enough time, to roam around its new and Old Town!

Head to the old Venetian fortress to see the city from up high, or walk through the Old Town, admiring its gems, if of course, you have a couple of hours left!

While in the Old Town, make some time, to grab some Greek local souvenirs, or visit its museums and churches for a last sightseeing!

We spend the night at the Marina of Corfu’s Old Town, where we enjoy an optional traditional dinner with the group, for our final farewell party! After that, we head to the gulet, to enjoy our last night together on board, and on the next day, early in the morning, we sadly depart.

⚓️Corfu Greek Night

Departure Day

The Ionian cruise includes a unique Island hopping experience while spending a week at sea, exploring the best destinations, the Ionian sea, has to offer!

It is meant for independent, like-minded travelers, best suited for those who want to set sail for an adventure, explore Greek heritage and enjoy historical sightseeing!

Departures are every Saturday at 17:00, from May until the end of October. For more specific dates, please see our cruise calendar.

All our cruises end on Saturdays, at 09:00.

The difference between island hopping with us, and island hopping with any other mainstream-commercial ferry company, is mainly, the overall experience and comfort!

Commercial Island hopping, would mean standing for hours in line, just to boat your ferry, traveling with other thousands of people, sometimes for many hours without truly being comfortable during the trip, absurd time schedules, as most commercial ferries have crazy embarkation/disembarkation schedules (sometimes as early, as 04:00 in the morning). Additionally, during commercial Island hopping, you won’t have any standard accommodation for that period, which means that you will be carrying your luggage everywhere you go, without the possibility of leaving them somewhere stress-free.

On the other hand, traveling with us, on your own private gulet, would mean, overwhelming comfort due to the fact, that you will have the same accommodation for the whole trip’s duration! Of course, plenty of storage to leave your luggage and belongings, without the fear of losing anything, as our crew never leaves the ship. This means that your belongings will be safe, throughout the week you will be traveling with us! And also, besides the cruising hours, there is no other major time restriction, so you will have plenty of time, to do whatever you want!

We do have a variety of cabins, which range from doubles to twins (lower beds-bunk beds) to triples and a few quads, depending on the operating gulet.

All cabins besides, their comfortable mattresses, are ensuite with their own shower, a hair dryer, a wardrobe for storage, reading lights, their own individual A/C device and an electric fan!

If you want to be in the same cabin with your friends, just mention it, while booking with us. We can not guarantee that you will be together, but we will make everything possible to actually do that!

Please keep in mind, that we provide 1 set of fresh linen and towels, for the cruising week.

Many of our guests, choose to travel alone, as it follows the basic idea of our cruises. Independent individuals, come alone but travel with same-like-minded people, so many in the end, actually become friends!

Please know, that if you are traveling solo, we will always try to allocate you to a cabin, with your same gender.

On the other hand, if you desire to have your own private cabin, there will be an extra charge of 50% of the total amount of 1 person’s price

In general, on Greek islands, you can find affordable food and drinks, everywhere! You can choose, between eating traditional Greek comfort food, like a Souvlaki, at a price of 3€, or sitting at a local tavern/restaurant, for a much proper meal, at a price of 8-15€ per person.

Throughout, Greek Islands, drinks cost approximately, 6-12€

Water is offered complimentary by us, only during meal courses, so water is NOT included in your package!

If you want any extra water, we offer 1.5L bottles (Natural mineral Water), at 2€

The A/C, operates from 4 to 8 hours, per day (if of course, it is permitted by the government’s Covid regulations).

Also note, that the A/C works only when the generator is working at the exact same time. Though, due to local regulations, the generator must be turned off, after midnight.

The power supply, from the shore at the ports of Corfu, Kassiopi, Sivota and Gaios (due to their weak infrastructure), is not powerful enough to operate all our A/C units, simultaneously. Thus you must keep in mind, that there are possibly hot nights, especially during July and August, where the A/C, does not work after midnight.

Please keep in mind, that all our cabins are equipped with independent electric fans, as well, hence when our boats are connected to the shore’s power supply, our fans work properly, during the night, as well.

Any means of transportation, such as local buses, taxis, or even water taxis, are not included, in any of our cruise packages. However, we would be more than happy to arrange any possible transportation, for you!

A standard “airport to the vessel (and vice versa)” transfer, is around 25-30€ per person (depending on the Island), while shorter, in-town transportation would vary, between 8€ and 15€ per person.

In case you want to arrange your transportation, prior to your arrival, send us an email, at: [email protected] or [email protected]

Our gulets share quite a number of electrical sockets, both on the inside and the outside, of the vessel.

With this in mind, and as we do provide extension cords and multi-docking stations, you will be able to charge your devices, either while cruising while the generator is active, or while docked at port!

You are able to have a shower, any time of the day, but keep in mind that when the boat is docked at some of the ports we visit, the engines are turned off, the water flow is reduced and as a result, there is no hot water after midnight.

Water tanks on board are limited, meaning, when multiple cabins shower simultaneously, hot water is more likely to end.

If your shower does not have hot water, please inform your captain in order to open the water heater, and please wait for at least, 15 to 20 minutes, until it heats up the water again.

All basic cruise options include a Half Board, which means daily breakfast and lunch. (Buffet style)

For Breakfast, click here, to see our onboard menu items.

For lunch, we do offer a much more detailed plan, which you can see yourself, here: Daily lunch Schedule 2023

Besides breakfast and lunch, we do offer a special complimentary Captain’s dinner, which basically, is a dinner that passengers, enjoy, alongside the crew and the Captain!

All courses, include water, though if you want extra, a 1.5L water bottle, is at 2€

We do respect our passenger’s food preferences and requirements and that is why our Chefs, in case it is needed, will prepare optional dishes, as well.

(vegetarian, lactose-free, pescatarian, vegan, etc.)

As we use to say here, we are like a hostel in the water. So, yes feel free to bring any personal food or drinks you want on board. Our idea is to support your budget and travel cheaper. Please keep in mind that is not allowed to consume food and drinks inside our cabins and also there is no communal fridge that can be used for storage.

Adventure traveling, like Island hopping, requires travel insurance and we strongly suggest, purchasing one! For further details, please review our travel insurance section.

All gulets, including ours, are hybrids, which means that although they do have a motor engine, they can run on wind energy, as well, through its huge sails.

That said, operating a cruise solely on wind energy, is something quite unpredictable, thus, we prefer relying on, and scheduling each week, based on the gulet’s ability to use its motor engines!

All the gulets in our fleet, have only European-type sockets.

Note: It is mandatory to know this beforehand, as the electrical items/devices you want to bring on board, need to agree, with this specification.

We have travelers from all over the world, and we are truly delighted about this!

Most of our passengers are Australian, British, German, Spanish, Croatian, French, Italian, South African, Canadian and American!

So, most of our passengers are mainly English speakers!

In order to get all the necessary updated information about Visa and passport requirements, please check our Visa & Passport section!

Ιn order to support the local community and give back to its (our) people, all our gulets have multinational crew members. Though, English is the number one onboard-speaking language!

All our gulets can carry up to, approximately 20 to 25 passengers, with an average cabin number of 7. (double/twins – triples)

Keep in mind, that all our vessels have fair space onboard, for literally all the passengers they will, eventually, accommodate!

At the time of your booking/inquiry, remember to specify who your fellow travelers are. This way, we will try to make all the necessary arrangements to accommodate you, all together, on the same vessel!

Please keep in mind though, that we can not guarantee this, for close-to-date cruises!

Even if we believe, that it is impossible for someone, to wish to “abort” our sailing cruise earlier than its scheduled disembarkation, You are of course, free to leave, whenever you like!

The only restriction though, is that in order for you to leave earlier, the gulet needs to be docked at a marina/port, and not on some remote cove!

Of course, in case you happen to leave earlier and want us to help you with your transportation, feel free to let us know, by sending an email, at: [email protected] or [email protected]

In the unfortunate event, of losing your departure, you have the option to either “catch” us on the next Island/destination, via commercial ferry, or bus. (if accessible)

In any case, if something like that is to happen, try to inform us prior to the actual departure time, by calling us at our Head Office, at: +30 211 215 2595

As personal privacy, is of paramount importance to us, we cannot provide you with any of your fellow travelers’ details, prior to your actual cruise day.

However, if you are interested to meet other people that travel on the same tour as you, feel free, to head to our Facebook page and introduce yourself to our lovely community!

Our standard and premium cabins always include a private bathroom, a wardrobe, a cozy carpet, a comfortable mattress, reading light and a/c.

Our premium cabins we define cabins that have a separate shower box inside the wc and/or larger space available ( usually 2/3 s.m.) from our standard ones. Usually they are located on the stern or the bow of the ship, making them slightly more isolated than the rest of the cabins onboard and they have better sound insulation that the rest since they are bigger.

Scattered along the western coastline of Central Greece, the Ionian Islands are a cluster of twelve small and large island. The natural traits of the Ionian islands are well combined with a multitude of sights, historic monuments, and museums. Due to the air currents prevalent on the islands, many of the beaches have perfect conditions for windsurfing and other water sports. There are a lot of options for land trips, hiking and mountain biking. With a temperate climate, deep and cool sea waters, lush greenery, and cultural heritage the Ionian islands are the perfect spot for relaxing and active holidays.

Gulet yacht in Port

You can board your gulet in the harbor of Messolongi in the vicinity of the Patras city and the airport. Messolongi port is located in the center of a unique protected Klisova lagoon, an area that remains undiscovered by mass tourism. The town has a historical significance for Greek independence and is itself very picturesque, combining traditional architecture and modern urban planning. If you wish, you can explore the city a bit, visit a museum or treat yourself with delicious greek cuisine.

Patras City

The first island on the route is Kefalonia, the largest of the Ionian islands. Kefalonia has various natural attractions like underground lake Melissani, Drogarati cave and Myrtos beach, described as “one of the most dramatic beaches in Greece” and voted the best Greek beach for several times. You can visit picturesque fishing villages and enjoy swimming and local cuisine.

Agia Efimia is a quaint little fishing village situated on the east coast of Kefalonia surrounded by mountains. It has a natural bay, great beach and clean sea for swimming and snorkeling. The village has a dozen little taverns and cafeterias with their own special dishes. Agia Efimia is also a great base from which to explore the rest of the island.

Fiskardo is the northernmost port of Kefalonia and very close to island of Ithaca. The village has a mainly rocky coast with numerous pebble-beached coves. Fiskardo and its surrounding forest area have been protected under the law due to great natural beauty.

Cesme town

From Kefalonia, the cruise continues to the nearby island of Ithaca. The island is known as the home of the renowned ancient Greek hero Odysseus, the protagonist of Homer’s classical epic Odyssey. Despite its proximity to Kefalonia, Ithaca is much more peaceful, quiet and undiscovered.

Beach lovers will love a multitude of choices for all tastes, from sandy beaches to pebbles, from rocky to green-clad backgrounds, from peaceful beaches to busy ones. You have options for water activities like kayaking or scuba diving. The island also boasts plenty of hiking and mountain bike trails. The Vathý village, the capital of the island, is marked by the features of the local architecture and offers some interesting museums and tasty local cuisine.

Next cruise destination is Lefkada, the island that is connected with the opposite coast of Central Greece by a floating swing bridge. Lefkada offers you some noteworthy sights, monasteries and churches, picturesque villages, lush vegetation, idyllic coves of turquoise waters, busy and secluded beaches of stunning beauty, a significant cultural heritage and hospitable local inhabitants. There are amazing beaches almost everywhere, so you will have a lot of opportunities for swimming, and other watersports. You can visit sea caves or explore island’s green mountains with a bicycle.

Lefkada Island and Porto Katski

Meganisi and Mitikas

In the vicinity of Lefkada lies Meganisi, a small island with lush greenery, blue-green waters, three small settlements, two interesting sea caves and some beautiful beaches that are only accessible by boat. Perfect for a relaxing daily trip.

The cruise continues to Mitika harbor situated in the city of Mitikas. With gentle winds and mild weather almost all year round, this harbor is the ideal place for water sports. Here you can enjoy water skiing, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing etc. Restaurants in the area will provide you with traditional Greek cuisine and quality dishes will spice up your holiday and will ensure your stay here will be the one to remember.

Kalamos and Kastos

On the way south, you can visit two small islands Kalamos and Kastos that host beautiful beaches and sea caves. Kalamos is the bigger island of the two and is covered with pine trees, while Kastos is an elongated isle covered in olive trees and provides a safe anchorage for boats cruising the Ionian sea.

Kastos

The last destination of the cruise is Zakynthos, the third largest of the Ionian islands. Zakynthos, also known as Zante, is among the most beautiful and popular islands of the Ionian Sea and is world famous for the crystal beaches and lively nightlife. The island landscape is diverse and has different types of beaches, from sandy beaches in secluded coves with tranquil deep blue waters to the rugged cliffs and interesting underwater world.

The island’s capital, also called Zakynthos, is marked by the beautiful Venetian architecture. You can explore town’s squares, churches, castle, museums, and other cultural landmarks or take a walk on the coastal road Strata Marina and enjoy among numerous cafes and restaurants. In the northern part of the Ionian Islands lies Corfu, lined with hidden treasures, natural wonders of magical caves, romantic towns, quaint anchorages and beautiful beaches. In Corfu Town, the capital of the islands, guests will find an abundance of beautiful harbours, quaint anchorages and romantic town squares. For those interested in Greece's eventful history, there are many possibilities beyond the capital to marvel at the remnants of a bygone world.

Paxi is known by the Greeks for its unique scenery, which exudes a different attraction around the world every summer. It has emerald colour water ideal for swimming. Paxi is a small island but consists of three villages of traditional houses, beautiful front beaches and colourful surroundings. Paxi is on its way to becoming one of the hottest destinations in the Greek islands.

Lefkada is one of the best breathtaking Greek islands. It is the heart of the Ionian Sea, connected to the mainland by small bridges. The sandy temple with stunning turquoise waters surrounded by wild nature and magnificent beaches makes Lefkada wildly famous among its beaches. Water sports like windsurfing, kitesurfing, scuba diving and other beach-related activities are a must in Lefkfada. Lefkada is an absolute dream destination for those who love exotic islands.

Day 1: check-in.

Check-in available from 17:00 at the port of Zakynthos: once embarked, you will have plenty of time to enjoy the wonders of the island of Zakynthos as you set sail the next morning. Don't miss the fantastic Byzantine museum and the National Marine Park in Laganás Bay before returning on board.

Finally, we set sail for Agia Efimia, on the island of Kefalonia. It is a small fishing village situated in a small harbor, where you can visit a number of taverns and typical restaurants, as well as a traditional bakery baked in a wood-fired oven. In the evening, you can go ashore for a stroll through the streets of this beautiful village and sample local dishes in a typical restaurant, perhaps with a view of a beautiful sunset!

We sail north and land on the island of Kefalonia, which with its secluded bays and shallow-water sea caves is a true paradise for sea and nature lovers. Enjoy lunch on board as we sail to Fiskardo, also known as the Saint Tropez of the Ionian Islands. Here you can visit the beautiful beaches of Antisamos and Harami. Typical restaurants and tavernas are everywhere, all you have to do is choose which one you prefer for dinner ashore.

Today we set sail for Nidri, the most famous port of Lefkada. While you are here you can visit the local markets, full of typical products, souvenirs and other surprises! Upon request, you can also participate in an olive oil tasting (optional paid activity). Lefkada offers a beautiful mix of crystal-clear waters and verdant forest landscapes.

In the morning, after a sweet breakfast on board our gulet, we arrive at Meganisi, less well known than the more famous Corfu, but just as picturesque. The immaculate white pebble beaches, contrasting with the beautiful blue sea and lush green countryside make this place a true paradise on earth. Once ashore, you can easily explore the island with a scooter or rental car, by bike or even on foot. Enjoy the view of the sea while indulging in the local specialities offered by the countless restaurants in the area.

After a good breakfast, we head south to Ithaca, one of the most beautiful islands in the region, described as one of the most beautiful villages in the region: Ithaca. On the way, we will first make a stop on the island of Atokos, where wild piglets live freely. We will have lunch on board while sailing to Ithaca, after which we will spend an afternoon relaxing in one of the island's many secluded bays or go ashore for a bus tour of the island (optional activity for a fee). Overnight stay on board in the roadstead.

Before returning to the island of Zakynthos, we take the opportunity to admire its long sandy beaches. We visit the beautiful "wreck beach" and the village on the east coast of the island, enjoying a lunch on board, illuminated by the blue water. We spend the night in the Marina of Zante Old Town, where we enjoy a delicious Captain’s dinner for a last farewell.

Day 8: Check-out

Check-out is scheduled in the morning by 09:00.

The itinerary may be subject to variations based on the weather, safety and technical assessments of the captain of the boat. This program is intended as indicative and not binding.

Gulet Yacht Charter in Kefalonia and the Ionian Islands: Sailing the Sapphire Seas

gulet ionian islands

The Ionian Islands, a captivating emerald necklace of seven main islands off Greece’s west coast, beckon travelers with their pristine beaches, unforgettable turquoise waters, and lush Mediterranean landscapes. Among these gems, Kefalonia stands out, boasting dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, and a rich cultural tapestry. But how best to explore this paradise? Enter the gulet yacht charter – a traditional wooden vessel that offers an unparalleled blend of comfort, authenticity, and adventure.

The Allure of the Ionian Islands: A Sailor’s Paradise

The Ionian Islands are a dreamscape for seafarers, with their gentle winds, calm waters, and a plethora of secluded bays and picturesque harbors. Unlike the Cyclades, known for their strong Meltemi winds, the Ionians offer a more serene sailing experience, making them ideal for families, couples, and groups seeking a relaxing yet adventurous getaway.

Geographical Gems

The archipelago comprises seven main islands – Corfu, Paxos, Lefkada, Ithaca, Kefalonia, Zakynthos (Zante), and Kythira – each with its own distinct character and charm. From the Venetian-influenced architecture of Corfu to the vibrant nightlife of Zakynthos, the Ionian Islands offer a diverse range of experiences for every taste.

Natural Wonders

Beyond their cultural richness, the Ionian Islands boast stunning natural beauty. Kefalonia’s Myrtos Beach, often hailed as one of the world’s most beautiful, is a must-see, with its dramatic cliffs and turquoise waters. Melissani Cave, an underground lake illuminated by sunlight filtering through a collapsed roof, is another natural wonder not to be missed.

Gulet Chartering: A Voyage Through Time

The gulet, a traditional wooden yacht with origins in Turkey, is the perfect vessel for exploring the Ionian Islands. These handcrafted boats, with their spacious decks, comfortable cabins, and experienced crews, offer an authentic and immersive way to experience the region’s beauty and charm.

Insider Tip: When to Go

The sailing season in the Ionian Islands typically runs from April to October, with peak season being July and August. If you prefer a quieter experience with fewer crowds, consider visiting in the shoulder seasons (April-May, September-October). The weather is still pleasant, and you’ll find better deals on gulet charters.

Kefalonia: The Jewel of the Ionian

Kefalonia, the largest of the Ionian Islands, is a microcosm of the region’s allure. Its diverse landscape ranges from dramatic cliffs and secluded coves to fertile valleys and verdant vineyards. The island is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering hiking trails, water sports, and opportunities to explore ancient ruins and charming villages.

Myrtos Beach: A Natural Masterpiece

Kefalonia’s crown jewel, Myrtos Beach, is a crescent of white pebbles framed by towering cliffs and lapped by turquoise waters. This iconic beach has graced countless postcards and travel magazines, and it’s easy to see why. The views from the clifftop are breathtaking, and the water is so clear that you can see the seabed from afar.

Melissani Cave: An Underground Oasis

A short drive from Myrtos Beach lies Melissani Cave, a mesmerizing underground lake illuminated by sunlight filtering through a collapsed roof. Take a boat ride through the cave to admire the shimmering water and the stalactites and stalagmites that adorn the walls.

Assos Village: A Venetian Gem

Nestled on a picturesque peninsula, Assos is a charming village with pastel-colored houses, narrow streets, and a Venetian fortress perched on a hilltop. Stroll through the village, enjoy a meal at a waterfront taverna, or hike to the fortress for panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Gulet Chartering Options in Kefalonia

Kefalonia is an excellent starting point for gulet yacht charters in the Ionian Islands . Several charter companies offer round trips from Agia Efimia, a charming fishing village on the east coast. These itineraries typically include visits to neighboring islands like Ithaca, Lefkada, and Meganisi, as well as secluded coves and hidden beaches that are only accessible by boat.

Insider Tip: Foodie Delights

Kefalonia is a foodie paradise, with a rich culinary tradition that blends Greek and Italian influences. Don’t miss the opportunity to sample local specialties like meat pie, Kefalonian cheese, and Robola wine. Many gulet charters include onboard dining, with the chef preparing fresh, flavorful meals using local ingredients.

The Ionian Islands: Beyond Kefalonia

While Kefalonia is a captivating destination, the other Ionian Islands offer a wealth of experiences for gulet charter enthusiasts. Each island boasts its own unique character, landscape, and cultural heritage, making island hopping a delightful adventure.

Lefkada: A Windsurfer’s Paradise

Known for its dramatic cliffs, turquoise lagoons, and excellent windsurfing conditions, Lefkada is a haven for water sports enthusiasts. The island’s west coast is dotted with stunning beaches like Porto Katsiki and Egremni, accessible only by boat.

Ithaca: Homer’s Mythical Island

Steeped in mythology, Ithaca is said to be the home of Odysseus, the legendary hero of Homer’s epic poem. Explore the island’s ancient ruins, charming villages, and secluded coves, and let your imagination wander as you trace the footsteps of Odysseus.

Zakynthos (Zante): The Party Island

Famous for its vibrant nightlife and the iconic Navagio Beach (Shipwreck Beach), Zakynthos is a popular destination for young travelers and partygoers. But the island also offers quieter corners, like the loggerhead sea turtle nesting beaches on the south coast.

Corfu: A Venetian-Influenced Gem

The northernmost of the Ionian Islands, Corfu is a cultural melting pot with a rich history shaped by Venetian, French, and British influences. Explore the island’s elegant old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or visit the Achilleion Palace, a former royal residence with stunning gardens.

Paxos and Antipaxos: Secluded Retreats

These two small islands offer a tranquil escape from the crowds. Paxos is known for its charming villages, olive groves, and crystal-clear waters, while Antipaxos boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the Ionian Sea.

Insider Tip: Island Hopping Itinerary

A popular gulet charter itinerary in the Ionian Islands is a one-week round trip starting from Lefkada. This itinerary typically includes stops at Ithaca, Kefalonia, and Zakynthos, with ample time for swimming, snorkeling, exploring ashore, and enjoying onboard activities.

The Ionian Advantage: Ideal Sailing Conditions

One of the main reasons why the Ionian Islands are a top destination for gulet charters is their favorable sailing conditions. The winds are generally calm and predictable, making it safe and comfortable to sail even for those who are new to yachting. The water temperature is also pleasant, averaging 24-26°C (75-79°F) in the summer months, making swimming and snorkeling a delight.

The Ionian Islands’ unique geography also contributes to their sailing appeal. The islands are relatively close together, making it easy to hop from one to another. The coastlines are dotted with sheltered bays and coves, providing ample opportunities for anchoring and exploring ashore.

Gulet Yacht Charters: What to Expect

A gulet yacht charter is not just a mode of transportation; it’s a floating haven that offers a unique blend of comfort, adventure, and cultural immersion. These traditional wooden yachts are designed to provide a luxurious and relaxing experience, while also allowing you to explore the Ionian Islands’ hidden gems and immerse yourself in their rich history and culture.

Traditional Design and Modern Amenities

Gulets are known for their elegant wooden construction, spacious decks, and comfortable cabins. They typically feature a large salon, an alfresco dining area, and plenty of sunbathing space. While the design is rooted in tradition, modern gulets are equipped with all the amenities you would expect from a luxury yacht, including air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, and state-of-the-art entertainment systems.

Experienced Crew and Personalized Service

One of the highlights of a gulet charter is the dedicated crew that caters to your every need. The crew typically includes an experienced captain, a chef, and deckhands who are responsible for navigation, meals, and onboard activities. They are knowledgeable about the local area and can recommend the best places to visit, swim, and dine.

A Day in the Life on a Gulet Charter

A typical day on a gulet charter begins with a leisurely breakfast on deck, followed by a morning of swimming, snorkeling, or exploring a new destination. After a delicious lunch prepared by the onboard chef, you might opt for an afternoon siesta, a hike to a scenic viewpoint, or a visit to a local winery. As the sun sets, enjoy cocktails and dinner on deck, followed by stargazing or a movie under the stars.

Insider Tip: Pack Light and Smart

When packing for your gulet charter, remember that space is limited, and you’ll be spending most of your time in swimwear or casual attire. Pack light, breathable clothing, comfortable shoes for walking and hiking, and a hat and sunglasses for sun protection. Don’t forget to bring a waterproof bag for your electronics and valuables, as well as any medications you might need.

Chartering Options: Tailored to Your Needs

Gulet yacht charters in the Ionian Islands offer a range of options to suit different budgets, group sizes, and preferences. Whether you’re seeking an intimate getaway for two, a family adventure, or a celebration with friends, there’s a chartering option that’s perfect for you.

Private Charters: Your Floating Villa

For the ultimate in luxury and exclusivity, a private gulet charter is the way to go. You’ll have the entire yacht to yourself, with a dedicated crew catering to your every whim. You can customize your itinerary, choose your activities, and enjoy a truly personalized experience. Private charters are ideal for couples seeking a romantic getaway, families wanting to spend quality time together, or groups celebrating a special occasion.

Insider Tip: Early Bird Discounts

Many gulet charter companies offer early bird discounts for bookings made several months in advance. If you’re planning your trip well in advance, be sure to inquire about these discounts to save on your charter costs.

Choosing the Right Gulet Charter for You

When choosing a gulet charter , consider your budget, group size, desired level of privacy, and interests. If you value privacy and flexibility, a private charter is the best option. If you’re on a budget or prefer a more social experience, a cabin charter might be a better fit. If you’re new to sailing or want a hassle-free experience, a crewed charter is the way to go. And if you’re an experienced sailor seeking complete freedom, a bareboat charter might be the perfect adventure.

Today you will arrive and embark on the ship. The cruise departs after sunset, so depending on your arrival time, you should have ample time to explore Corfu Town. Corfu Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage town, bursting with history. Walking along the narrow cobbled streets you have plenty to see and do. If time allows, other areas to explore include Agni Bay, the beautiful cliffs of Cape Drastis or Palaiokastritsa, a village nestled between olive groves and citrus orchards. In the evening, you will get settled in on board and have dinner as you head towards Kassiopi. Note: On the rare occasion of any late arrivals, there is a possibility that you will not depart Corfu on Saturday evening, and instead set sail on Sunday morning

Meals included:

Mourtos and Sivota

Day 2 | sunday.

Today you will visit Mourtos and Sivota, both south of Corfu. Sivota is small port village that is famous for all year-round wind surfing. You can also spend your time on one of the amazing beaches including the bay of Pishina where ‘Blue Lagoon’ was filmed. In the evening there is an optional cooking class (additional cost of 50 Euros pp) or you can have dinner at one of the many tavernas on the beautiful promenade whilst watching the sunset. You will have the evening at your leisure, take the chance to stroll along the promenade to the marina, with a choice of traditional tavernas to choose from for dinner. Later in the evening you’ll depart towards Agia Efthimia In the evening you have the choice of staying local for dinner. Or there is an optional 3 hour Odysseus coach tour (additional cost of 40 Euros pp).

Day 3 | Monday

Spend the day in Parga, set between two crystal clear bays and often described as one of the region’s most beautiful villages. Lunch is on board the vessel, with time in the afternoon to explore the many beach side bars or for the more adventurous, water sports are available. Dinner can be at one of the restaurants in town or there is also the option of wine tasting (Additional cost of 35 Euros pp) Note: If the vessel does not manage to dock in the port, you will need to use a water taxi. The cost of the water taxi is not included and will be an additional cost payable locally.

Day 4 | Tuesday

Often overlooked due to its close proximity to Paxos, Antipaxos offers some amazing secluded bays and is home to Vrika and Voutoumi beaches. You may choose to snorkel, swim, wander along the clifftop surroundings or visit one of the islands three main towns. In the evening you will dine at a secluded pop-up beach tavern in a bay away from the crowds.

Gaios - Paxos

Day 5 | wednesday.

Docking at the port of Gaios. Today you will have a full day exploring the bustling island of Paxos. Whether you choose to walk around and explore the Venetian architecture of Gaios town or discover one of the many isolated bays for swimming and snorkelling. Dinner is at one of the numerous beachfront restaurants, serving the freshest local fish.

Lakka - Paxos

Day 6 | thursday.

Today you will visit Lakka Village, the second largest village in Paxos. Located in a horseshoe bay, with both pebbled and sandy beaches, the shallow waters are perfect for snorkelling and discovering the underwater world of the Ionian Sea. Later, stroll along the vibrant promenade, filled with bars and tavernas. Note: The vessel cannot dock in the marina in this area, so will instead dock in a bay.

Day 7 | Friday

On your final day, you will head back to Corfu Town, stopping by Benitses village and it’s beautiful sandy beach. In the evening there is the option of Corfu bus tour (Additional charge of 55 Euros pp) and a Corfu Greek night (Additional charge of 25 Euros pp.) Alternatively, stay on board and enjoy a Captain’s Dinner before saying goodbye to the group.

The boarding starts in the evening in Messolongi Harbour. On the first day, the service starts on the boat with dinner and an overnight stay in Messolongi Port. Messolonghi Port is located in the center of an unique protected lagoon area, which is still undiscovered by mass tourism.  Experience it all yourself. Step ashore and enjoy Greek hospitality and food.

After your breakfast, you will be informed about the cruise itinerary and the boat. The cruise will move towards Kefalonia – Agia Effimia.  Agia Effimia is a village on the east coast of the island of Kefalonia. It is a traditional fishing village centred on a small harbour. It contains a number of taverns, bars and shops as well as tourist accommodation and local residences.

Fiskardo is a village, part of the municipal unit of Erisos. It is the northernmost port of Kefalonia, a short distance from Ithaca. The coast around Fiskardo is mainly rocky with numerous pebble-beached coves. Fiskardo and the dense forest in the surrounding area have been declared areas of great natural beauty and are protected under Greek law.

Atokos is a small Greek island in the Ionian Sea off the coast of Acarnania and is one of the most westerly and perhaps remotest of the Echinades islands.

Mitika Harbour is aWith gentle winds and mild weather almost all year round, this harbour is the ideal place for those who want to enjoy nautical sports. Restaurants in the area will provide quality dishes and traditional Greek cuisine that will spice up your holiday and will ensure your stay here will be one to remember.

Kalamaki is on the south- east coast of Zante , just a couple of kilometres from the airport. The resort has no obvious centre – just a few easy-to-get-around streets and some traditional tavernas dotted about the place. It’s the charm and laidback appeal that rack up its popularity – plus a first-rate beach.

Last day before embarkation we will visit beautiful natural island Kouneli.

The guests will leave the boat with precious memories by 09:00 after breakfast.

Bellissime Ionie

A bordo tanto comfort, simpatia e bella compagnia!

OurIonian Jewels route focuses on the place where modern day island hopping started back in the early 1970s – the Ionian. It’s a chain of islands a short sail from Athens with a huge diversity of culture ranging from well known ‘party places’ like Corfu to spiritual Ithaka, the birthplace of Odyssen, and some small off-the-beaten track places you might never have heard of.

It’s a combination of places that celebrate Greece both ancient and modern. You can choose to walk barefoot in the sands, cycle up a hill and watch the sun set into Homer’s wine dark Ionian Sea, enjoy octopus and ouzo in a fisherman’s taverna or party the night away in a cosmopolitan club.

There are no future departures for this trip at this stage.

Embarkation at 15:00. Enjoy a welcome drink with your fellow travellers and get to know your crew. In the evening enjoy your first dinner on board.

DAY 2 Preveza: In the morning we cross the Lefkas Canal and sail towards Preveza. Enjoy a unique swimstop in a beautiful secluded bay. After lunch we arrive in Preveza, where you can join an excursion to the ancient fortified city of Nicopolis and its museum. Free time to explore Preveza. Tonight get ready to eat Greek delicacies and learn how to dance the Syrtaki because it is our Greek Party Night

Arrival in the morning in the magnificent village of Parga, where we will drop our anchor so you can enjoy the turquoise waters. Snorkel around, ride an SUP or paddle along on a cayak. Parga is a true undiscovered gem which will leave you breathless. Our excursion will take you to the Venetian castle. Enjoy an evening in Parga. In the late afternoon we will set sail for our Beach Barbeque on a beach just for you where our crew.

Sail emerald seas and soak up the beauty of the Ionian Islands on this Greek gulet round-trip cruise from Corfu, including half board and flights

Day 1: Corfu - Kassiopi

You'll start your journey from Corfu’s Old Port, which brims with tavernas, antique shops and markets. If you have some free time ahead of embarking, be sure to visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town, which offers a uniquely scenic experience by way of its striking architecture.

After boarding and meeting with the rest of your group, sit down for a lovely welcome dinner and sail on to your first destination, Kassiopi.

Day 2: Sivota - Mourtos

Today you'll experience the ravishing natural beauty of Sivota and Mourtos, south of Corfu’s mainland. Here you'll marvel at vibrant forests, hills cloaked with olive groves, and white-sand beaches - a heavenly scene and a welcome sight for relaxation-seekers and nature-lovers alike. Enjoy a stop amidst the turquoise waters of the Blue Lagoon and uncover the mysteries of Papanikolis cave. Then, spend some free time strolling through the traditional Marina village and, before you return to your ship, be sure to grab something to eat from a local taverna.

Day 3: Parga

It's on to the village of Parga next, an idyllic spot which stuns by way of its Venetian castle, colourful waterfront architecture, and crystal-clear bays - the latter will be particularly attractive to those in search of water sports adventures.

Do note that due to Parga’s undeveloped port infrastructure, limited space is available on the marina; if your gulet is not able to dock at the port, you will need to use a water taxi to reach the shore (chargeable).

Day 4: Antipaxos

Next on the itinary, the small island of Antipaxos is a hidden gem and guarantees a one-of-a-kind experience. Enjoy lunch here before exploring some of the island's most secluded bays, home to the beaches of Voutoumi and Vrika. If the weather permits, you could even suit up for a spot of snorkelling, or perhaps visit one of the island's main towns. Later in the night, dine at a pop-up tavern on a private beach (chargeable), and return to your ship to relax and gaze up at the sparkling night sky.

Day 5: Gaios, Paxos

Best known for its olive oil production, Paxos is a destination you won't want to miss. Surrounded by lush green scenery, here you can let your senses come to life - why not rent a bicycle to visit a secluded cove for a swim or sunbathing session? In the island's capital Gaios, enjoy some traditional Greek seafood at a local taverna - some of these are run by local fishermen!

Day 6: Lakka, Paxos

Secluded coves, sea caves and fabulous diving opportunities await keen explorers in Lakka, which is also home to a small but vibrant village with shallow waters. Now's your chance to acquaint yourself with the local marine life, before indulging further with a hop across the local bars and tavernas.

Please note, your ship cannot dock at Lakka’s marina, and will instead dock at one of its secluded private coves.

Day 7: Corfu

Today you'll arrive back at Corfu’s Old Port in the afternoon, giving you plenty of time to explore the riches of the Old Town at your own pace. From museums and churches to retail therapy, the options for passing the time are plentiful - just don't forget to grab a souvenir or two to take home with you.

Spend the night in the Marina of Corfu’s Old Town, where you could enjoy an optional traditional dinner with the group. Head back to the gulet to spend one final night on board.

Day 8: Corfu - UK

Today, disembark your gulet ship for your airport transfer and return flight back to the UK.
