Broker not familiar with Export Rules Canada -US Poor Communication Broker was charging 12% of Listing Price,Not Selling Price After 2 weeks wanted to reduce Listing Price 30% Unprofessional Broker requested a contract signed by Buyer responsible for Delivery to the Border from Canada with funds in Escrow. This results in Much Higher Brokerage Fees,Transportation Costs and Liability to the Seller and Buyer. This Cost is usually reflected in the Listing Price The owner from Canada can't bring the boat to the US to sell. He can bring it to the border but you as the buyer must bring it into the US. If the boat, motor and trailer were built in the US, there are no duties or taxes to bring it back to the US if YOU are the one bringing it in. If you hire a transporter, the entire deal changes with Customs into a commercial import. If you are personally not with the boat and hire someone to bring it in, US Customs then wants you to hire an import broker to handle the importing of the boat and the entire deal turns into a commercial import. You'll then be required to pay import fees as well as brokerage fees on top of the transport. There are no brokers available to help you on the weekends due to their accounting process so Customs pretty much have to wait until Monday to get the boat into the US. You can get a temporary Durable Power of Attorney for your transporter which is the equivalent to you being there. Most Canadian Insurance Companies will not Underwrite a Insurance Policy for 2nd Party Transportation.

Took boat into EYS in September 2022. Had considerable growth on bottom and paid to have it cleaned. At time of contract no storage fee applied. They began charging me storage fees in November at $203.32 per month while they tried to sell boat. After charging winterization fee of $494.56 and a cleaning fee of $274.75, all looked good. Pics looked ok. After no luck and numerous price lowerings by june, I received a facetime from Steve that indicated what cleaning I thought had been done was not. It looked awful. This boat had no chance of selling with their cleaning at that price.. I ended up actually paying them over $500 to sell my boat in September 2023. I could have given it away for cheaper and taken a tax break in 9/22. Terrible service, poor communication, and a reneged deal to remover summer storage I was never billed for. Let me reiterate, a potentially $30,000 boat that I could have sold for at least $25,000, I ended up selling through them for a net loss of almost $900. Go somewhere else

Terrible seller experience full of threats and stress. I sold my 27' SeaRay with Everett Yacht Sales and it was horrible. Pros: They stored my boat for free. Low 10% commission. They were initially very friendly and accommodating. Upon request, they would reevaluate stats on Yachtworld and try to tune it for more sales traffic. Cons: They left my boat overnight at the public dock (unacceptable). Poor listing quality -- full of typos and inaccuracies. Confusion on the sales staff around whether there was a pending sale and actual price of boat. Upon closing, they offered me a friendly choice of in-house title or using a title company. I chose the title company. A hour later, they changed their mind and strongly insisted on using their in-house title. I disagreed and the buyer and I agreed on the title co. EYS then grudgingly accepted this. However, EYS messed up the docs sent to title co, causing more confusion and stress. So the buyer and I agreed to simply meet at a bank and close the deal as EYS was already paid their commission. EYS became irate, and told the buyer and I that EYS were "impounding" (taking custody) my boat until I brought them signed title and used them to transfer it. The buyer was so angry and ready to walk. The Everett police advised me that this was not legal and that I should remove my boat ASAP. I arrived early the next morning to pick up my boat and found EYS had attached a tongue lock to prevent me from removing my property. Fortunately, it was the wrong size and was easily defeated. I drove away with the boat and the buyer and I transferred title. It is still unclear what EYS motivation was. Their tag line says "people first" but that is clearly not the case.

My personal experience with Everett Yacht Sales was horrible. Very unprofessional from day one. As a buyer I can personally tell you they did nothing to fullfil our purchase. We had our boat survey done and they asked us, the customer to lock the gate when we were done? We took the keys to the boat home. What kind of business allows a potential customer to take home the keys of another customer's boat??? Boat owners were removing their boats from their lot due to unreliable and untrustworthy sales tactics. I didn't understand at first but as I was seeing more and more of boat owners taking their boats back, I started to understand. Their slogan is "Always People First" is far from the truth.

One star is one more star than I would give Everett Yacht Sales, horrific experience! First, I attempted to sell my boat in order to purchase another from this dealer, bad choice on my part. After finding that the boat Steve had for sale on his lot would not accomidate me, I chose not to purchase it at the begining of August, expecting my deposit back quickly, it took weeks and when I called Steve about it, he didnt say so much as that he would look in to it. Footnote: The day Steve introduced me to the seller of the boat I originally wanted buy, Steve proceeded to yell across the lot in front of the seller and stated "Stop being a cheapskate Andy and buy the boat", not a good first impression to the seller. 24 days after leaving my "for sale" boat with Steve, both him and his son informed me that they received a deposit on my boat and a sea trial was set for four days later, I was relieved. I was then contacted by Everett Yacht Sales requesting that I perform the sea trial for the clients as Steve left no one available for sea trials in the middle of the summer [3to4 weeks], so I requested a deduction of the sales commission and Steve said absolutley NOT, but did finally offer a $100 credit to me to perform their job, I accepted. The day before the sea trial, out of the blue I received a text from Steve asking me when I was coming to pick up my boat, no explanation given. The following morning as I was hitching up my boat with an off duty sheriff, Steve approached us and angrily asked what I was doing and that I was breaking my contract, again no explantion as to why he wanted me to pick up my boat either. Steve continued to demean me for taking my boat per his request, and went as far as to refer to me as a mental case in front of both myself and my fiance. Footnote: Sold my boat for full price 28 hours after removing it and the sludge Steve had left inside my boat. There were to many other negative actions to mention as well, but they fall in line with the other negative reviews here. Unprofessional to say the least, and no apologies for their numerous mistakes. Avoid! Do not waste your time with this company.

Critical: Quality, Responsiveness, Value Let's start with honesty and inegrity. 1 STAR is too many! First things first, nearly all the "5 Star Reviews" for EYS, were not even written by actual clients, rather than just associates or even a current employee of EYS. It's clear that people just chimed in to say nice things about EYS, not having any completed any transaction with EYS. It's also obvious that when a negative review is made about EYS, suddenly a new "5 Star Review" appears the next day, shall we read between the lines here??? My nightmare experience with EYS. On 6/26/2020, Steve Dittoe informed me that I was welcome to list my boat with his company, contingent that if I was not happy with his brokerage, i could remove my boat, "no questions asked, after 30 days". This seemed to good to be true [free storage if not happy], what Steve left out of the equation was, he was leaving for a better part of July to enjoy his own boat in the San Juan's without arranging a person to both sea trial both my boat and others while he was away for about three weeks! Appauled that this broker put his own interest above his clients was a shocker! At one point I was interested in a Beautiful 270 Sundancer he had on his lot, upon first contact with the seller on his lot, Steve yelled across his lot to me "Stop being a cheapskate and buy the boat already"! Being a former boat broker myself, again, I was shocked at the owners lack of professionalism. During this time I was receiving non sensical text messages from Steve, as was another client with my same first name receiving text messages for me, very unproffesional and quite confusing. Approximately 21 days after listing my boat with EYS, I received a group text from Steve and his son that they had a sea trial set for my own boat and requested I be there to show the perspective buyers my boat in person. I requested that Steve reduce my sales commission to him by $100, Steve said "NO", then later said he would do so, since I was performing his job for him. This was a Monday, I agreed to perform the sea trial on the following Thursday. Wednesday afternoon, I received a text from Steve, out of the blue, asking me when I was going to pick up my boat?! Shocked, because we had a sea trial set and i had cleared my schedule to do this the next day, no explanation was given. I arrived on Steve's lot with my best freind [off duty sheriff's deputy] to pick up my boat. Steve approached us and wondered what we were doing, I told him, Steve told me I had ten minutes to remove my boat, and that I could not sell my boat for 120 days, shocked again I quoted his "punch line, 30 days and I can take my boat back, no questions asked", Steve agreed he stated that, but I still could not sell my boat. I continued to hitch my boat to my truck and Steve approached me and stated, "ANDY, YOU HAVE MENTAL ISSUES AND SHOULD SEEK HELP", both my freind and my fiance were shocked at Steve's behavior, complete lack of unprofessionalism. Upon inspecting my boat after leaving his lot, I found the interior of my boat filthy with leaves, mud, debris and two dead batteries along with a "finger tight" drain plug, not shocked with EYS any longer at this point, I felt it fair to warn others before doing business with STEVE DITTOE. Sadly, when my fiance had gone to EYS to gather some things from our boat, one of Steve's own brokers approached her and stated his own frustration with Steve and his lack of customer care by leaving all his salesmen "high and dry" for the month of July with no way to sell boats without anyone to perform sea trials, I do not see his name on the employees list any longer, but a good man for being honest with clients. Expect to see another FAKE 5 star review to follow this one". Avoid EYS.

Let's start with honesty and integrity. 1 STAR is too many! The owner of EYS has chosen to include reviews from his own employees in his Google reviews, a clear violation of the terms and conditions of Google itself, 1st Red Flag. Rob Gibbs is broker who violated the terms and conditions of Google reviews and has been reported to Google for posting 5 Star reviews for his company. 2nd Red Flag, when legitimate clients leave honest negative reviews of this company, suddenly, anonymous acquaintances of the owner leave positive 5 star reviews of this company to counteract the negative ones, though, none were actual clients, (fraud?) [Facebook is a true Truthfinder]. This is a direct quote from Google "Reviews from employees are not allowed, but service suppliers would be fine. Maps user contributed content is most valuable when it is honest and unbiased. Examples of disallowed practices include, but are not limited to: Reviewing your own business." EYS IS IN CLEAR VIOLATION OF GOOGLE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AND HAS BEEN REPORTED. Also, be aware, it took over TEN days to get a $1400 deposit back form Steve, when i questioned him about where my deposit was at, he didn't seem the least bit interested in locating it for me. Also note, Steve had another customer with my same first name, that I later found out was receiving text messages for me and vis versa, communication was horrific! Expect a FAKE 5 star review to follow this one". Avoid EYS and Steve Dittoe

I was looking at a 26' boat and was helped by Steve. The boat ran fine but Steve wanted to do a oil sample just in case luckily we did because the sample came back with issues. Most sales men just care about the sale but Steve made sure I was protected and got what I paid for. He puts people first and that is rare. I would recommend Everett Yacht Sales to anyone in the market for a boat.

Coming Into Port

everett yacht services

Everett, Washington, has always been a boating town. Boats and ships of all sizes have been navigating Port Gardner Bay long before the city was founded in 1890, and today both the U.S. Navy base and the Port of Everett Marina—the largest public moorage facility on the West Coast—draw vessels from near and far.

But for most of the last century, Everett had an image problem. Its waterfront was untethered from the city itself.

For decades, much of the waterfront at the mouth of the Snohomish River was dominated by shingle factories, boat-builders, and wood pulp mills. In the early 20 th century, Everett’s industrial boom earned the city the nicknames “Milltown” and “City of Smokestacks.” Then the city’s commercial center of gravity shifted further south to the Boeing plant in the 1970s, and Everett was known more for boatbuilding than sheltering recreational boats. When Naval Station Everett came to town in the early 1990s, it purchased land from the Port of Everett, generating $40 million to build a massive marina with 2,300 boat slips and 5,000 feet of guest dock space.

Today, another new marina renaissance is underway at the Port of Everett. Beginning in 2018, the Port started work on the Waterfront Place project, a 1.5-million-square-foot, mixed-use development on 65 acres, bringing in new retailers, restaurants, boatyard businesses, and residential complexes to the docks, all arranged in a more concentrated, walkable “town square” environment.

“I’m happy to report we are officially in the home stretch,” said Lisa Lefeber, CEO of the Port of Everett. “This project is transforming the Port of Everett Marina, making it a true destination marina.”

John Seger, Commodore of the Everett Yacht Club, was blunt about his assessment of the area. “Everett wasn’t much of a destination, really,” he said. “Having people living around the marina will bring more foot traffic. The facility upgrades will make it a nicer, more welcoming place to visit.”

The first phase of the project, a $50 million development called Fisherman’s Harbor, is nearing completion with the opening of a new marina-wide promenade and Pacific Rim Plaza, featuring a soon-to-be-iconic public fountain. Other additions include the 142-room Hotel Indigo and 266 new condo and apartment units.

Last fall, the Port broke ground on new restaurant and retail foundations, including Fisherman Jack’s restaurant and the South Fork Bakery. Later this year, Lefeber said the Port hopes to open a new Woods Coffee shop, a Sound2Summit brewery, a wine bar, more tap rooms, an ice cream shop, a café, and a year-round fish market.

Boating Interests

In addition to all the new restaurant and hospitality businesses coming to Waterfront Place, there are some familiar boating groups, plus a few fresh ones, who are looking to add amenities for boating members.

One of the oldest and most recognizable is the Everett Yacht Club, which has been around since 1907. Last year, the club vacated its old clubhouse to relocate to anexisting structure that used to house the old Port Administration Building in South Marina. The new space, which includes on observation tower with commanding views of the marina, should be open by May or June.

“We had been looking for a new place for several years,” Seger said. “The new building had been too small for the way we ran the club in the past. But we’ve changed since then, and we’re getting rid of the events business.”

One of the most attractive aspects of the club’s new space will be its location overlooking Commodore Park, above 150 feet of moorage space. “We’re a cruising club,” he explained. “Boaters either come and sit on their boats or go to the marina on Friday nights. The Port wasn’t a really public space before, but now we expect more members will use the dock.”

Waterline Boats has also secured a brand-new space near K Dock and the Pacific Rim fountain. Gretchen Miles, a Waterline Boats broker, said their building should be open sometime this month. “Between Seattle and Anacortes, there weren’t many places worth stopping at,” she said. “It’s going to be a nice draw with the redevelopment.”

Best of all, Miles added, the brokerage will be adjacent to “beautiful display moorage, so we can show our boats in front of our office. We’re going to be near all sorts of activities, events, and new restaurants.”

Another new tenant on K Dock will be the Freedom Boat Club, whose members can reserve use of the club’s five boats for day use or extended cruises. The club, which has a dozen locations around Puget Sound, expects to increase its fleet size to nine boats by the end of 2022, said sales manager Keith Lemley.

“Everett, in general, is really having a resurgence,” Lemley said. “There are a lot of growth opportunities for us, plus greater accessibility to the San Juan Islands. Also, people who live in condos don’t have places to store a boat, so we’ve become a great fit for them.”

Economic Engine

All told, Waterfront Place is predicted to attract $550 million in new public-private investment to the city, Lefeber said. Once all new businesses are in place, she said the project should support more than 2,000 family-wage jobs, in addition to many more temporary construction jobs during build-out in the next phase expansions.

Just to the south of the marina, Everett’s “Mills to Maritime” project will add marine businesses on the site of the former Kimberly-Clark pulp mill. Once completed this fall, a new 40-acre cargo terminal will generate even more marine-industry jobs in the region.

Waterfront Place, as well, has made marine businesses another major focus. Future plans include a new commercial fishing pier and support infrastructure for Everett’s fishing fleet. The Port has also created a “Craftsman District” boatyard to support the local boat repair and maintenance industry.

In December of 2021, the Port also announced it had selected a developer to begin planning for the second and largest phase of the project, an area dubbed the “Millwright District” that will be

devoted to establishing a waterfront employment hub, supporting office users with surrounding destination retail, residential, and public spaces. This phase is expected to break ground in 2023.

All in all, the future of the Port is looking bright, with the hope that once the work is completed in the old “City of Smokestacks,” Everett will no longer be just another moorage stop between Seattle and the San Juans, but a desirable destination in its own right. “At Waterfront Place, we are building a community where you can do five things year-round,” Lefeber concludes. “You can eat, drink, sleep, work, and recreate all in one place.”
