Designed by Omega Architects and delivered in 2008, IDEFIX II has been carefully maintained and upgraded ever since, including a comprehensive 2019 refit. Her distinctive russet and white superstructure makes her instantly recognizable wherever she goes, while her impressive interior volumes and deck space make charter cruising luxurious and pleasurable.
IDEFIX II’s Intarya and Barbara Barry interiors are elegant and sophisticated, inspired by the luxurious beach houses of the Hamptons with hardwood floors offset by white walls and soft furnishings in light neutral tones and detailing in mother-of-pearl, nickel and crystal. The main salon exudes classic charm with an open-plan layout and plenty of natural light from the surrounding window. The palette is neutral with fresh white lacquer finish on the walls and ceiling and tones of pale grey and cream for the soft furnishings. The conversational lounge area flows seamlessly to the formal dining area with its bar and elegant circular timber table for 12, perfect for a celebration meal prepared by IDEFIX II’s expert culinary team. After dinner, head further forward to the main deck cinema lounge with its plush sofas, enormous TV and impressive library of films and TV programs. There is also a handy office area for when work emails beckon.
Six spacious staterooms provide tranquil havens for IDEFIX II’s 12 guests. The magnificent master stateroom takes up the majority of the upper deck with a king-size bed, his and hers en-suite bathroom with a spectacular free-standing tub, dressing room, lounge area and a working fireplace for romantic evenings. There is also direct access to the exterior deck area and fantastic views from the panoramic windows. The main deck offers one double stateroom with en-suite bathroom, while there are a further two doubles and two twin cabins on the lower deck with beautiful original artwork, restful décor and dedicated en-suite facilities. A stunning spiral staircase crafted in hand-beaten metal with leaf motifs connects all floors. A fabulous traditional Turkish hammam with decorative mosaic tiles provides moments of deep relaxation
The attractions continue out on IDEFIX II’s expansive decks. The main aft deck offers integrated sofa seating and small tables ideal for morning coffee and pastries while soaking in the scenery. The upper deck boasts a large circular table for well-appointed al fresco dining, while the foredeck is the place for sunset soirees, perfectly chilled Champagne and fantastic views. Sun lovers will head to the sun deck to soak in the rays on the expanse of sun pads after a dip in the large Jacuzzi. There is also a sit-up bar positioned to take in the destinations ahead and a fantastic space for casual lunches and lounging partially shaded by the hardtop.
With the transom door open there’s plenty of space for bronzing at the water’s edge where the large swimming platform also provides a jumping off point for on the water adventures. Her SeaDoo jet skis and array of towable toys offer plenty of thrills, while the water slide is bound to be a hit with younger guests and the young at heart. IDEFIX II is also fully equipped for scuba diving and unlocking the underwater wonders of her cruising grounds.

Exterior living aboard the M/Y IDEFIX is well-appointed on 3 spacious teak decks. The main deck offers a more formal alfresco dining option aft and the perfect elegant entertainment area. Adjacent to the upper salon is an additional alfresco dining option, wet bar and shade, ideal for casual or formal entertaining. The upper sundeck boasts a massive forward sunpad, deluxe Jacuzzi tub and chaise lounges. M/Y IDEFIX offers a good assortment of water toys, all neatly stowed in the transom garage. With an extended swim platform, guests will find the use of the water toys effortless.
Being a semi displacement motor yacht she is able to make way at relatively high speeds: 15 knots cruising speed and 18 knots maximum, while powered by 2 x MTU 2225hp engines.

Hi Amanda, this was the best boat and crew yet!” The Yacht was impeccably maintained and presented. We loved the “beach bags” that the owner put on board! The yacht has a fantastic layout and flow; we appreciated the huge salon and sundeck where there was plenty of room for all to gather, loved the round interior dining table conducive to interaction, and the sunshade at aft deck for outdoor table. The Chef did a fantastic job accommodating many different dietary issues and a pregnancy. High compliments to the Captain for comfortably navigating in wind/high seas, one day in particular. The Crew was exceptional in attentiveness and friendliness, had a great sense of teamwork and really made us feel like family! There were many hugs and tears on disembark. ‘Idefix’ is a 139.11ft /42.4m motor yacht, custom built in 1998 by Oceanco and last refitted in 2015. The A Group has designed her beautiful interior and exterior, and she was previously named Blacksheep.
Idefix’s stylish interior layout sleeps up to 12 guests in 6 rooms, including a master suite, 1 VIP stateroom, 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 8 crew members onboard to ensure you and your guests get the most out of your charter vacation, and enjoy the most luxurious, memorable charter vacation, utilizing all of this yacht’s available facilities and amenities.
Her impressive leisure and entertainment facilities make her perfect for entertaining friends and family. There’s space for enjoying lavish dining on deck, or simply kicking back and soaking up the sunshine.
She is built with an aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure, and has a cruising speed of 13 knots, a maximum speed of 17 knots and a range of 2,500nm from 55,500litre fuel tanks. She combines both performance and luxury.
She comes complete with a modern stabilization system to reduce roll motion even during rough seas, and the yacht also has ‘at anchor stabilizers’ to keep things smooth even at anchor/zero speed.
A deck Jacuzzi is perfect for relaxing with friends and family, while taking in the view, particularly after a long day of exploration.
The yacht has a great Wi-Fi connection throughout, so you’ll be able to check emails or share your experience on social media. Air conditioning keeps conditions comfortable throughout the cabins, so you’ll stay cool even on the warmest of days.

She was constructed by the well-known ship builder Oceanco in 1998. A comprehensive refit was finalized in 2015. The investigators searching for answers about the shipwreck, leaving seven dead, face questions about extreme weather and possible human error or problems with the yacht itself.

More than 180 feet long, with a mast towering about 240 feet and a keel that could be lowered for greater stability, the Bayesian luxury yacht did not, in the eyes of its maker, have the vulnerabilities of a ship that would easily sink.
“It drives me insane,” Giovanni Costantino, the chief executive of the Italian Sea Group, which in 2022 bought the company that made the ship, said after its wreck last week. “Following all the proper procedures, that boat is unsinkable.”
But the $40 million sailing yacht sank within minutes and with fatal results: seven dead, including the British technology billionaire Michael Lynch, his teenage daughter, four of Mr. Lynch’s friends and a member of the crew. Fifteen people, including the captain, escaped on a lifeboat.
Mr. Lynch had invited family, friends and part of his legal team on a cruise in the Mediterranean to celebrate his acquittal in June of fraud charges tied to the sale of his company to the tech giant Hewlett-Packard.
The Italian authorities have opened a manslaughter investigation, searching for answers from the survivors, the manufacturer and the wreck itself. They face a range of questions and possible factors.
An ‘earthquake’ in the sky?
When the Bayesian sank around 4 a.m. on Aug. 19, the waters in its area, about half a mile off the Sicilian port of Porticello, were transformed by an extremely sudden and violent storm, according to fishermen, a captain in the area and meteorologists.
But what kind of storm is still a mystery, compounded by the fact that a sailing schooner anchored nearby did not have its own disaster. Also unclear is whether the crew was aware that the Italian authorities had issued general warnings about bad weather the night before.
Karsten Börner, the captain of the nearby passenger ship, said he’d had to steady his ship during “really violent” winds . During the storm, he said, the Bayesian seemed to disappear behind his ship.
Severe lightning and strong gusts were registered by the Italian Air Force’s Center for Aerospace Meteorology and Climatology, according to Attilio Di Diodato, its director. “It was very intense and brief in duration,” he said.
The yacht, he said, had most likely been hit by a fierce downburst — a blast of powerful wind surging down during a thunderstorm. His agency put out rough-sea warnings the previous evening, alerting sailors about possible storms.
Locals have said the winds “felt like an earthquake.” A fisherman in Porticello said that he had seen a flare go off in the early-morning hours. His brother ventured to the site once the weather had calmed about 20 minutes later, he said, finding only floating cushions.
The Italian authorities have so far declined to say whether investigators had seen any structural damage to the hull or other parts of the ship.
Open hatches or doors?
The boat executive, Mr. Costantino, has argued that the Bayesian was an extremely safe vessel that could list even to 75 degrees without capsizing. His company, the Italian Sea Group, in 2022 bought the yacht’s manufacturer, Perini Navi, which launched the ship in 2008.
Mr. Costantino said that if some of the hatches on the side and in the stern, or some of the deck doors, had been open, the boat could have taken on water and sunk. Standard procedure in such storms, he said, would be to switch on the engine, lift the anchor and turn the boat into the wind, lowering the keel for extra stability, closing doors and gathering the guests in the main hall inside the deck.
At a news conference on Saturday, almost a week after the sinking, investigators said the yacht had sunk at an angle , with its stern — where the heavy engine was — having gone down first. The wreck was found lying on its right side at the bottom of a bay, about 165 feet deep.
12 guests occupied the yacht’s six cabins. There were also 10 crew members.
Open hatches, doors and cabin windows could have let in water during a storm, according to the manufacturer.
Water pouring into open hatches or doors could have contributed to the sinking, experts say, but that on its own may not account for the speed at which such a large boat vanished underwater.
Asked about the hatches at the news conference, the authorities declined to comment on whether they had been found open at the wreck.
The authorities have also not specified whether the boat had been anchored, whether it was under power at the time or whether its sails had been unfurled.
A retracted keel?
The Bayesian had a keel — the fin-like structure beneath a boat that can help stabilize it — that could be retracted or extended, according to its manufacturer. On some yachts, keels can be raised to let the large vessel dock in shallower water, and extended downward to help keep a boat level.
But like the hatches, the status of the keel alone may not explain why a large ship sank with such precipitous speed. Investigators have not disclosed what divers may have seen at the wreck, aside from saying divers had faced obstacles like furnishings and electrical wiring in tight quarters. Officials want to raise the wreck to better examine it, a process that may take weeks.
Human error?
Ambrogio Cartosio, the prosecutor in charge of the case, said at the news conference that it was “plausible” crimes had been committed, but that investigators had not zeroed in on any potential suspects.
“There could be responsibilities of the captain only,” he said. “There could be responsibilities of the whole crew. There could be responsibilities of the boat makers. Or there could be responsibilities of those who were in charge of surveilling the boat.”
It remains unclear what kind of emergency training or preparation took place before the disaster, or what kind of coordination there was during it. So far, none of the surviving crew members have made a public statement about what happened the night the ship sank.
Prosecutors said they want to ask more questions of the captain and crew, who have been in a Sicilian hotel with other survivors. They said that neither alcohol nor drug tests had been performed on crew members, and that they have been allowed to leave Italy.
Prosecutors also said they were also investigating why the captain, an experienced sailor, left the sinking boat while some passengers were still on board.
Besides possible manslaughter charges, the authorities are investigating the possibility of a negligently caused shipwreck.
The bodies of five passengers were found in one cabin, on the left side of the yacht, the authorities said. The five were most likely trying to flee to the higher side of the boat and were probably sleeping when the boat started to sink, they said.

Italian authorities say the bodies of all seven people who died after a sailing yacht sank on Monday have now been recovered. The final discovery was announced on Friday; the other six bodies had been found after the calamity.
Tech mogul Mike Lynch is among the people whose bodies were recovered from the sailing yacht, called Bayesian. The massive yacht sank in a violent storm along the shore of Sicily early on Monday.
Italian divers on Friday recovered the body of Lynch’s daughter Hannah, 18, who was the last person unaccounted for.
Lynch’s body was identified on Thursday, according to The Associated Press and other news outlets, citing the Italian coast guard. The agency did not immediately respond to messages from NPR.
The sea rescue operation included 123 dives, according to the Italian fire brigade . Robotic craft have also been used in the search.
Local newspaper Giornale di Sicilia reports that Lynch’s daughter, Hannah, 18, is believed to be the only remaining missing person from the calamity.
15 people survived the catastrophe
Bayesian, with a length of more than 180 feet, had 22 passengers and crew aboard when it sank in the pre-dawn hours of Monday morning. Eyewitness accounts cited a waterspout — a highly localized spiraling storm that’s essentially a marine tornado. One body was found, and 15 survivors made it to safety. That left six people unaccounted for.
Since then, the Italian Coast Guard has been working to find survivors -- and as time passed, what started as a rescue effort became a recovery operation to retrieve bodies from inside the sunken ship.
The Palermo Coast Guard told NPR that the operation has been complicated by the depth and position of the hull, which lies on the seabed at a depth of around 50 meters, about a half-mile from the port in Porticello, Sicily.
Who were the missing people?
The six passengers who had been unaccounted for include Lynch and his daughter, along with Morgan Stanley International Chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife. Judy. A lawyer for Lynch named Chris Morvillo, and his wife, Neda, were also missing in the days after the yacht sank.
One member of the crew -- Recaldo Thomas, the yacht’s chef -- also went missing. Local news reports have suggested it was Thomas’ body that was found soon after the ship sank.
Who survived the sinking?
Survivors include Lynch's wife, Angela Bacares, along with Charlotte Golunski, who works at Invoke Capital, Lynch’s venture capital firm. Golunski was on the ship with her daughter, Sofia, who had just celebrated her first birthday.
In an interview with La Repubblica , Golunski said that as the ship sank, she used all her strength to hold her arms above water and prevent Sofia from drowning. Sofia’s father was also onboard and survived.
Ayla Ronald, a lawyer who worked on Lynch’s fraud case, and her partner also escaped the wreck. Other survivors include several crew members, including two women in their early 20s who were part of the ship’s staff.
Who was Mike Lynch?
Lynch, 59, was the founder of Autonomy, a search engine and software company. Hewlett-Packard bought Autonomy for $11 billion in 2011, but Lynch then faced accusations — and then federal fraud charges — that he had misrepresented his company’s financial health and prospects. Lynch denied the claims, saying HP was blaming him for its own problems.
This past June, a lengthy trial in San Francisco ended with Lynch’s acquittal of all charges against him , after he testified on his own behalf. The sailing voyage along the coast of Sicily has been portrayed as a celebration of the end of the court case.
