Den besten Überblick über Bregenz hat man ohne Zweifel vom Hausberg Pfänder, auf den bereits 1926 eine Seilbahn gebaut wurde. Auch der Gebhardsberg mit der Burgruine Hohenbregenz ist ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel. Bei einem Rundgang durch die Stadt empfehlen sich der Besuch des Kunsthauses, der Seekapelle und des Martinsturms. Durch die kopfsteingepflasterten Gassen der Oberstadt schlendernd, findet man sich unversehens im Mittelalter wieder. Zur Festspielzeit wird der Bodensee mit der weltweit größten Seebühne zur spektakulären Kulisse.

"Yacht Club Bregenz" repeats their victory in Neusiedl am See

Team “Yacht Club Bregenz” won the third Austrian Sailing League regatta this season in Neusiedl am See (5 – 7 August), repeating their victory at this regatta last year. They dominated the racing and were never out of the top 2 in any of the 9 races sailed. “Union Yacht Club Wolfgangsee” were 2nd overall, 9 points behind and The “SCTWV Achensee” team were 3rd and thus hold on to their overall lead in this year’s championship, with “Yacht Club Bregenz” closing on them in 2nd. The final will take place next month (9 – 11 September) on the “Yacht Club Bregenz” team’s home waters in Bregenz (Lake Constance).

2024 Vintage Star Class - Bregenz

May 25 - 26, 2024, district: 9, event description.

The Vintage Star Class was hosted by the Yacht Club Bregenz last weekend. As we already knew from last year's Tri-Star Championship, the Yacht Club Bregenz once again impressed us with its hospitality and commitment on land and water.

10 boats and their sailors made the journey to Bregenz on Lake Constance. Among them were two teams from the Kiel and Kassel regions.

Two long races were held on Saturday in beautiful wind conditions of around 6 - 8 knots. SUI 4841 of Jürg Ryffel/Beat Heinz dominated the action on the water and scored the minimum number of points. Local Christoph Gautschi and crew Steffen Rutz followed with two 2nd places. Three teams tied on points formed the chasing pack. Sunday promised to be exciting!

As usual in the Vintage Star Class scene, there is a tactical and sailing battle on the water without jeopardising the valuable wooden Star boats. Just as important to us is the cosy, companionable get-together on land and in the evening. Here too, the Yacht Club Bregenz once again lived up to its name.

Unfortunately, the thermals never really came through on Sunday, meaning that only one race could be sailed in light wind conditions. This was won by Christoph Gautschi/Steffen Rutz, who won the entire series.

In addition to the prizes for everyone and the trophies for the podium, the Vintage Star Class organisers also presented the first three teams with a framed picture for both the skipper and the crew.

We would be delighted to be a guest in Bregenz again next year. Many thanks again to everyone involved from the Yacht Club Bregenz. Hope to see you all at the Vintage from 30 August - 1 September in Zurich
