Today with 4-5 Bft and some alterations to the set-up, the boatspeed was awsome, but getting the boat in irons (and sailing backwards) was still pretty frequent, the higher boat speed helped getting about, but as soon as the wind dropped close to the canal wall, the boat simply comes to a halt.

RE: Hurricane 1000. Hi, I bought a Hurricane 1000 a few weeks ago. Easy build and then start mods so it stays sailing. Made in China so all platic servo / rudder connections are junk. Still first sail faster than any other boat on lake. And cheap to buy on evil_bay.
I was given the first of these to be sold in Australia to see how it performed as 65 type boat. (Also the first two pre-release DF95 ) It isn't too badly made but out of the box ii sailed terribly., difficult to tack and a very poor performer. Until we made some new sails out of mylar, and increased the rudder area a bit it was not a goer..

August 2015. Well it has been a year since I took possession of a new 2014 SD2000 w/Evinrude 150. I have to say this is probably the best boat I have owned. I actually downsized from 25 cruiser and I have to say we enjoy this boat much more then any of the other ones. The boat is built extremely well and handles great.
