Hi, this is Wiley Sharp with Denison Yachting and I want to take you for a quick video walkthrough on board INTO THE BLUE , a 2007 Lagoon 420 owner’s version, located here in Fort Lauderdale, Florida . This boat has got a lot of really nice things going on with it: over a thousand watts of solar, upgraded Yanmar diesels SD60 saildrives, generator, air conditioning, water maker, over a thousand watts of solar, SuperWind Wind Generator, updated electronics, and all-in-all the boat is in good condition. So I’ll have the full specs sheet in the description down below. If you have any questions on this boat, leave a comment down below, shoot me an email . Let’s go ahead and jump aboard.
We’re going to begin our walkthrough here on the port sugar scoop. So a couple of steps brings us up to the bridge deck level. Firstly, you’ll notice the oversized davits with electric winches, a hard tender with a 15 horsepower Yamaha. Below me right now is the first of two mechanical spaces. One of the really unique things about INTO THE BLUE is she’s got the upgraded 75 horsepower Yanmars which are really the best motor package for the Lagoon 420. She’s also got SD60s which is a huge upgrade over the SD50s because they do not have the cone clutches which are prone to slipping and a higher maintenance item.
As we make our way up the port weather deck, you’ll see one of the shrouds here. All of the rigging looks in very good condition throughout the boat, nice wide weather decks with a grab rail here on the inboard side making it very easy to get forward. Quick pan here in the foredeck area. Beautiful morning here in Pompano Beach.
One of the things I love about the Lagoon 420 is: it is a big 42-foot boat. I mean, there’s more storage on this boat, more living space on the Lagoon 420 than you find on a lot of 45-foot boats. The trampoline on INTO THE BLUE has been upgraded to the vinyl coated style that you find on most South African cats which is a lot more comfortable than the wide open grid netting. She’s got a bow sprit with an asymmetrical spinnaker. You can see she’s got an oversized anchor as well. We got three lazarettes- one on the forward, two forepeaks and then we’ve got these three large deck openings here with tons of storage. Another forepeak there too.
Couple of steps brings us up to the coach roof. Now INTO THE BLUE is set up for blue water off-the-grid sailing. She’s got over a thousand watts of solar as well as two super wind-generators. And talking with the owners, 10 o’clock, 11 o’clock in the morning, their batteries are completely topped off while they’re out sailing. That’s a beautiful morning today. All the sail control lines run back to the helm. You can see them they’re captive through here making the boat very very easy to sail short-handed.
Making our way down the starboard weather deck, we get to the helm. Like I said, this boat is really really easy to sail short-handed. All the sail control lines come either here to starboard or over to the port side winch and all the winches here are powers. Got a newer Raymarine chart plotter as well as a multi-function display, brand-new Simrad VHF with AI AS, hour meters, oil pressure gauges, SD 60 wind, Tri-data, and then autopilot control.
Couple steps brings us down into the cockpit and it’s just a really really nice space, the cockpit here on the 420. Look how palatial it feels, look how high up that hardtop is. Through here we’ve got the 16 kilowatt Northern Lights generator and then across from that we’ve got plenty of storage underneath the helm seat. Let’s go ahead and take a look inside. We’re going to make our way into the saloon on INTO THE BLUE. It’s a really really nice natural flow from the cockpit to this salon on this boat. You’ve got a nice Pullman style galley if you will, port aft which opens up into the cockpit making it just a very bright and open area; really nice workable galley. We’ve got cold storage here; we’ve got one of the refrigerators, tons of storage down below the sink as well as storage up top. We’ve got a 3-burner ENO cooktop as well as an oven and broiler below and then a microwave.
Port forward we’ve got the forward-facing nav station with the iPad mount running with the Navionics software, the Simrad VHF which was replaced not too long ago. We’ve got a Raymarine tri-data as well as a remote for the auto pilot. Above that we have the stereo control and you can see just great visibility from this nav station. I mean if it’s inclement weather and you’re underway, this is probably where I’d be sitting. I’m just going to do a quick pan out through the salon here. Just a really really nice open space.
Starboard forward we’ve got the large L-shaped settee with bench seating across that also doubles as storage. We’ve got more storage over here and then coming down the starboard companion way, we’ve got the electrical panel. Now this boat is equipped with a 16 kilowatt generator. She’s also got over a thousand watts of solar, two SuperWind Wind Generator and really well set up for off-the-grid sailing. We’ve got some storage here as well as the water maker control panel. That water maker was replaced within the last 12 months. We’ve got the first of two guest cabins, a semi walk-around queen sized berth, tons of natural light coming in through the window. Nice hanging locker as well as drawers down below and then we’ve got the head with a separate shower stall forward. When the 420 came out, the idea of having a dry head on a 42-foot boat was pretty unique.
Making our way up starboard forward, we’ve got the second of two guest cabins which is in athwartship, semi walk-around berth with a nice large window opposite of that. We’ve got storage down beneath the bed. The showers all the way up here forward. So it’s a separate dry head. Storage on the inboard side as we make our way back out. And then you’ll see the head on the outboard side for this starboard forward stateroom. We’re going to pop across the salon. One thing I forgot to point out is additional cold storage just next to the nav station. Plenty of cold storage on this boat.
Going down the port side we get into the master stateroom which I think is still one of the nicest master staterooms you’ll find on a 42-foot catamaran even today. So aft we’ve got a semi walk-around queen berth with a custom memory foam style mattress. It’s definitely not the factory mattress, nice and plush, large window on the outboard side, hanging locker, settee on the outboard side, really really nice bookshelf with storage down below and then making our way forward you’ve got tons of hanging lockers and storage space here on the port side. Through here we’ve got the master head which is a really nice large head. It’s also worth pointing out the set of a washer/dryer combo unit. So separate shower stall forward and then single basin sink, vanity and mirror. Just look at this space, such a nice stateroom.

The Lagoon 420’s are large and spacious. The hard bimini allows for plenty of breeze yet protection from the elements. The cockpit is slightly below deck level to allow for movement around the perimeter of the boat. The helm sits high and has almost 360 degrees of visibility, a crucial feature severely lacking in many catamarans. The doors to the saloon open wide enlarging living space. The galley looks out into the cockpit so the cook never has to feel left out and snacks can be served easily. The “L” shaped galley has plenty of counter space with huge double sinks. The high back, comfortable “L” shaped settee faces the view to the stern. The large table can convert to a bed and is accompanied by a large bench seat which opens for storage or room for two or three more at the table. The nav station looks out over the bow and the panoramic windows allow for safe, dry night watches. The owners cabin is to port with a sliding privacy door. The queen island-style bed has room to exit both sides and with a drawer storage for underneath. The walk-through also has ample storage, a settee and desk. There is a bathroom with separate shower and plenty of head room. The starboard cabins both have “island-style” beds with access to both sides. The aft cabin bed is situated fore and aft and the head has a separate shower. The forward cabin bed is situated sideways with the shower stall completely separate from the head. A great feature for couples sharing a cabin. Outside, the stern platforms are wide with safe access to the dingy. You also have easy access to the engine compartments from here (vs. under the beds like some other catamarans.) There is plenty of space to walk around the boat with hand holds strategically placed where needed. The hard bimini will allow you to easily tuck in the sail after anchoring. A great boat for family living and comfortable sailing.

Anita Jo is a 2008 Lagoon 420 Owners Version with three cabin layout. This is a spacious and comfortable blue water sailing yacht, completely autonomous and fully equipped for long passages or for liveaboard cruising. She has always been lightly used and privately owned – she has never been used for charter. She also has no history of hurricane damage.
