With the increase in the number of expedition yachts in recent years, there has also been a rise in support vessels and Netherlands-based Lynx Yachts has created the 27.1m/88.9ft YXT 24 EVOLUTION support vessel as a compact addition to any fleet.

Constructed with a steel hull and superstructure, the draft is remarkably light at only 1.6m/5.2ft and allows the YXT 24 EVOLUTION to follow smaller expedition yachts through shallow waterways.

The exterior styling comes from Bernd Weel, who also worked in collaboration with Diana Yacht Design to produce her naval architecture with each vessel featuring customisation inside and out to suit the needs of the clients.

In one example. the main deck aft can be used as a helideck, or for storing vehicles and water toys for adventures on land as well as at sea. A knuckle boom crane is installed on deck for safe and easy manoeuvres from the deck into the water and vice versa. When clear, there is 75m2/807ft2 of space for guests to use as they desire. A swim platform extends to create the ideal sunbathing space above the water, and the beach club concealed beneath the stairs can be fitted with spa massage facilities and/or a gym.

The flexible accommodation layout places a cabin on the lower deck that provides two twin beds and a Pullman berth for use by guests or staff joining the expedition. The starboard corner sofa in the wheelhouse is convertible to an additional bed, and both can share the bathroom with a steam shower opposite the twin cabin.

The crew accommodation is designed for up to 4 and both cabins have an en-suite bathroom, with access to a spacious mess and pantry with extensive laundry and food storage facilities.

A pair of 588kW engines with a 27kW generator output create a top speed of 13 knots, a cruising speed of 12 knots and a range of 1,400 nautical miles at an economical 10 knots.

The second hull in the YXT 24 EVOLUTION model has been sold and is expected to be delivered at the end of 2019.

Bigger than you might think, the YXT 20 is the smallest in this series but by no means lacking in capability. The  21.45-metre  support vessel can perform any role, with multiple bespoke options to allow an owner to realise their specific requirements. Whether more accommodation is needed, pantry and refrigeration or additional space for the stowage of tenders and toys, each model in the YXT Series is fully customisable. A solid engineering package ensures seaworthiness and performance.

The Exterior

Conceived by LYNX YACHTS, the innovative design of the YXT series embodies seaworthiness and strength, with their no-frill lines, these yachts mean business. The YXT 20 is the most compact of the YXT series, offering extended benefits to every owner.

The Interior

As the most compact of the YXT “support vessel series”, the YXT 20 can accommodate four in her crew quarters with two twin cabins with baths, galley, stowage and laundry rooms. An additional segregated stowage compartment is on the lower deck for extra refrigeration or wine storage – if necessary it could provide extra berths.

TWO CRANES​

The  YXT 20  features two cranes: The primary  1.7 tonne   lifting capacity  crane is on the main deck,  with  a  five-metre  reach  and can be rotated  360 degrees. The second  has a lifting capacity of 0.5 tonnes  is at the stern to serve the beach club,  with  a  4.85-metre  reach  and can be rotated  120 degrees.

45 SQUARE METRE MAIN-DECK​

A few steps away from the relaxed beach club and one of the key features of the yacht is revealed, the main deck. Fully engineered to carry the sportiest of toys, from  Jet Skis  and tenders to submarines and even  SUV s. The versatility of this yacht makes it easy to stow whatever an owner wants. It is the ideal support vessel, offering the perfect blend of utility, seaworthiness and style.
