SeaDream Yacht Club, a small entrepreneurial company, set up shop in August 2001 and a month later took possession of two luxury cruise ships originally known as the Sea Goddess I and II (later operated by Seabourn Cruise Line as Seabourn Goddes I and II and finally renamed to SeaDream I and II). The company was established by Larry Pimentel, an American, and his business partner Atle Brynestad, the Norwegian founder of Seabourn Cruise Line. Brynestad has since become the company's chairman and sole owner. The cruise line offers "ultra-luxury cruises on mega-yachts," and potential cruisers need only look to see who's in charge here to get an idea of what's in store for them - the owner is Atle Brynestad, at one time the largest shareholder of the old Royal Viking Line and the founder, in 1987, of Seabourn Cruise Line. The two luxury cruise ships sail in the same regions, calling in some lesser-known ports that are inaccessible to mega-ships. From May to October, both vessels sail weeklong Mediterranean itineraries, primarily to and from Nice, France. Among the scheduled calls are less-visited ports such as Portofino, Italy; Cassis and St. Tropez, France; and Valencia, Spain. Starting in October, the duo operates weekly Caribbean cruises from Miami for 10 weeks before moving to a homeport in St. Thomas. The Miami journeys call at San Salvador, Rose Island and Nassau in the Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos, and Key West, FL. St. Thomas itineraries include visits to ports in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands and the Grenadines. Each ship is equipped with a watersports marina that can be lowered for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, windsurfing, waterskiing, etc. Both ships are stocked with complimentary equipment for waterborne activities, including wave runners, glass-bottom kayaks, Laser sailboats, a banana boat, water skis, snorkeling gear and standup paddleboards.
