The Bluewater 56 may look familiar to you, as it is the same proven Frers design that was originally developed for Hylas, of which 27 boats were built. Bluewater Yachts acquired the tooling and are now building them at the same yard that builds Outbound Yachts. In fact, hull #1 debuted as an Outbound 56 in the 2019 Annapolis Sailboat Show, and in December of 2020 hull #2 was commissioned which is now called the Bluewater 56.

The Bluewater 56 features a proper offshore bow entry and hull shape which deliver swiftness, power and stability, while maximizing space down below. There is more than ample room for a luxurious owner’s suite aft, beautifully finished in hand-chosen woods. Offshore comfort is further enhanced by the way the hulls are built, the Twaron aramid fiber yields “bullet-proof” strength for added safety.

Experienced sailors will appreciate this well behaved and easily driven yacht, not just for her speed but for the safety that comes with performance and control. This also reduces fatigue on offshore passages and ensure a well rested crew. The Outbound 46 was designed by the late Carl Schumacher (1949-2002) designer of the Alerion Express 28, Oyster’s Lightwave 48, the express 27 and 37, plus a large stable of successful west coast custom racing yachts. Schumacher was selected to design the Outbound for one reason … he designed boats that sailed great. He thus successfully combined the moderate displacement required for cruising comfort with an efficient under body needed to beat to weather, upwind performance and excellent control., The Outbound 46 exhibits easily driven lines, moderate beam, long waterline, moderate displacement, high righting moment (RMC = 2645) and 388 gallons of tank capacity directly over the keel.

The hull of the Outbound 46 is designed and engineered for serious offshore cruising. Each yacht is individually constructed of 100% hand laid solid fiberglass laminate... still the preferred choice with a massive system of stringers, longitudinals and bulkheads that are carefully bonded directly to the hull while it is still in the mold. Laminates are increased in high stress areas and in the bow and bilge for added strength. Bi-axial fiberglass cloth adds to the overall impact resistance, outer layers of vinylester resin will protect against osmosis and Ashland MaxGuard premium grade ISO-NPG gelcoat will maintain the yacht's beauty for years to come. To eliminate keel bolts and for maximum strength, the hull and keel are molded as a single lamination. After the deck is through-bolted and sealed to the hull with 3M 5200 polyurethane sealant, the bulkheads are fiberglassed on their entire perimeter, not just screwed in place. All furniture is then carefully bonded to the hull, adding to the structural support system.

The deck is Baltek cored and vacuum bagged with the core materials removed and replaced with solid fiberglass with stainless steel backing plates and easy access removable overhead panels at all deck hardware locations. Pushpit and pulpit are 1 1/2" diameter stainless steel connected by double lifelines with gates port and starboard. Solid handrails extend from the pushpit to the midships gates to assist cockpit exit and entry. There are stainless steel grab rails along the coach top, a custom stainless steel double anchor roller, and six stainless steel 12" mooring cleats. There are ten opening ports and eight Lewmar hatches. Four dorades with chrome cowls, inside closures and line guards keep the air circulating in inclement weather when ports and hatches are battened down.

The cockpit is a safe and comfortable place whether driving the boat in a gale or resting in a quiet anchorage. The long seats provide plenty of room for entertaining, sleeping outside while partner is on watch or sunbathing. Most importantly, the cockpit is deep and narrow with seat back ergonomically designed for maximum comfort. For safety and comfort he Outbound 46 was designed to make moving about the cockpit and cabin as easy and safe as possible. A three-step companionway allows you to use the whole boat without having to plan a major voyage down a steep and unsafe ladder. Forward of the companionway way is a molded sea hood with integral instrument box and large coaming for dodger attachment. A walk-through transom with boarding platform and fold down swim ladder makes returning to the boat after a refreshing swim easy. 

The Outbound 46 is known for its' thoughtful and functional design. There is dedicated storage for sails, fenders, lines, ground tackle, dive gear, dinghy, outboard, tools, spares, ship's stores, playtoys and most important, room for you and all of your personal items. There are comfortable berths through-out.

Starting in the cockpit, you will find generous locker storage to include a dual 20# bottle propane locker. Access to the swim platform is directly aft of the helm, via a bishop folding helm seat. There is a hot / cold water shower on the platform. The cockpit seats are long and wide enough to enjoy some quiet time or a nap. Via the port seat, you find direct access to the large workshop and mechanical systems locker / room.

When going below, you will be pleasantly surprised to find there are three (only three) wide steps that provide safe and secure access to the cabin area below. Immediately to starboard of the companionway is the Nav Station. To port of the Nav Station is a wonderful Galley that is comfortable to work in at anchor or underway. There are great views of the anchorage to be enjoyed from the large galley and salon port lights.

To starboard, you will find a generous quarter cabin. Forward of the head and galley is the salon with comfortable seating that converts to two of the best single sea-berths you will find. The salon table folds for easy access to the bin storage storage outboard. The salon table can also be lowered to create a queen-size sleeping area.

Moving forward is the master cabin with its' own in-suite head with separate stall shower. There is a huge storage area under the Pullman berth and there are numerous lockers and chests. Given the position of the Pullman berth (much further aft than your conventional V-berth), you will find this berth comfortable at anchor or underway. Immediately forward of the forward head is a water-tight bulkhead and a huge sail locker that is accessible from the bow deck hatch.

The interior fit and finish of this vessel is incredible.

The master stateroom is located forward of the main salon through a locking privacy door. Callisto features a Pullman layout with a queen-sized berth to port with lockers along the hull above the berth. There is plenty of room for gear/personal items in the large dresser of hanging lockers and drawers to starboard as well as the large storage compartment under the mattress and the four drawers below the berth. 

The main salon is aft of the master stateroom. The semi-raised salon provides excellent natural lighting. There is a large U-shaped dinette to port with a drop leaf table, and a straight settee to starboard. The table lowers to transform the dinette into a double berth. The mid-section of the back rest of the starboard settee drops down to become a small table - great for a game of cards or a place for drinks! Book shelves with adjacent lockers are above both settees. The straight settee converts to a comfortable sea berth when underway. the cushions are covered in jade green ultra-suede. 

The U-shaped galley is located to port and includes polished Corian counters, forward facing Scandvik double stainless steel sink with Scandvik faucets and a Force Ten three burner propane stove with oven and broiler. Jabsco fresh and raw water foot pumps augment the pressure hot and cold water system. There are two access hatches to the large top opening fridge below the counter just forward of the stove cooled by Frigoboat 12V systems. There is plenty of space for storage of ship's stores, dishes, cutlery, and pots and pans. While at first glance the galley will easily meet the needs of the most discerning chef, the space also meets the "safety at sea" requirement that is part and parcel of each Outbound yacht. When tucked into the U-section of the galley, one is not only secure, but also out of the way of anything that might be launched from the stove top.

The navigation station is situated adjacent to the companionway, the navigator will be in close proximity to those on watch allowing for clear communication with the helmsman. The top opening chart table easily accommodates all necessary navigational equipment. A Garmin chart plotter display is mounted in the cabinet above the table. 

The guest stateroom is aft of the nav station and is comprised of a comfortable double berth. Louvered lockers are above and outboard of the berth with additional storage in cabinets along the aft bulkhead. there is a large hanging locker and book shelves as well as two drawers below the berth. Two ports open into the cockpit, providing excellent ventilation.

A dedicated shop and mechanical room is accessed via the aft head. The cockpit lazarette opens into this mechanical space, providing standing headroom at a workbench that runs along the port side when the hatch is open. There are drawers for tools and spares onboard. There is also excellent access to the propeller shaft seal in this well-conceived space. Further aft, the steering quadrant can be easily accessed through a hatch in the aft bulkhead. While there is plenty of room for all the gear necessary for long term cruising, there is also space available to service these systems in conditions better than most stand up engine rooms.

Experienced sailors know the added safety that comes with good sailing performance: the ability to sail off a lee shore, to fetch a safe harbor that is dead upwind or to complete a passage within the available weather window. These are key safety factors that should not be overlooked when selecting an offshore passagemaker. Evensong , an Outbound 46 (hull # 30), speaks to each of these requirements while also acknowledging the value of a comfortable environment in fighting fatigue when offshore and in enjoying new surroundings in a far off anchorage.

Designed by the late Carl Schumacher, Evensong has the solid construction and displacement that give a yacht an easy and forgiving motion, her lines and design specifications define those characteristics. Her long waterline, moderate beam, high righting moment, proper weight distribution and efficient foils make for wonderful cruising platform. Her elegant handcrafted interior and semi raised salon fill the cabin with natural light and comfortable accommodations and superb load carrying capacity ensure the comfort of all who venture from the confines of protected waters.

Evensong has been professionally maintained by her owners since new. Her cherry interior shows as a much newer boat. Her exterior is clean and glossy, her bilges clean and mold free. Her exclusive use in the Pacific Northwest means that her gelcoat is not oxidized and her metals are corrosion free. Evensong has the Outbound designed and manufactured davit installed as well as a substantial solar array. Her anti-fouling has recently been renewed and she is ready for her new owners to begin straight away. She is located in Poulsbo, WA and ready for her next adventures.

EVENSONG’s  interior is beautifully furnished in american cherry with a satin varnish. All hatches and screens are finished this way as well. There is a teak and holly cabin sole and locking drawers and cabinets can be secured. Large salon windows fill the living areas with natural light. Opening ports and hatches with screens provide excellent ventilation. There are plenty of handholds to make passage easy and safer when the \seas kick up or you are heeling over. She can sleep six comfortably in two separate cabins and the salon. The forward cabin has a spacious pullman berth with head and shower. There is a head with separate shower forward and a head with integral shower aft.

The  master stateroom  is located at the forward end of the boat. The comfortable pullman berth is on the port side. Drawers below the berth provide excellent storage space. There is a hinged space outboard to port for additional storage.  Above the berth is a full length shelf with sliding doors. Opposite to starboard are two large lockers, divided in the center by a bureau of five drawers, including a vanity and mirror. Forward of this cabin is the private head with  fully separate shower stall.

The  main salon  is aft of the master stateroom. There is a seven foot long U-shaped dinette to port with a drop leaf table with a straight settee to port. The mid section of the backrest of the starboard settee drops down to become a small table perfect for playing cards or having a drink. There is a wine cabinet behind this table. Book shelves with adjacent lockers are above and behind both settees. The settee coverts into a  generous sea berth when underway. There is a 900 amp/hr battery bank below this settee for easy access to the batteries. The cushions are covered blue ultra-suede. There are lee cloths available as well.

The  U-shaped galley  is located to port and aft of the main salon and includes Corian counters, forward facing double stainless sink and Scanvik faucets. There is a dish storage rack above the sinks. There are two large access hatches to the fridge and freezer on the port side as well as a three burner gimballed Force 10 stove with oven. There is generous storage including a pantry with generous open storage and two deep drawers behind the navigation station.

Across from the galley to starboard is the  navigation station . Situated adjacent to the companionway the navigator will be in close proximity to those on watch allowing communication with the helm. The top opening chart table easily accommodates all the necessary navigation equipment. There are drawers and lockers for tools,winch handles and binoculars. The Raymarine E-120 Radar/Chartplotter screen is here as well as VHF. The electrical panel is on the aft side of the nav area and allows for full access to the back and wiring.

The  guest stateroom  is aft of the navigation station and is comprised of a comfortable double berth. Louvered lockers are above and outboard of the berth with additional storage in cabinets along the aft bulkhead. There is a large hanging locker a book shelf as well as two drawers below the berth. Hatches and ports provide light and ventilation including into the cockpit.

Aft of the galley on the port side is the aft head finished in molded surfaces that are easy to clean and impervious to moisture. This head is close to the companionway for excellent access to the on watch crew or storage of foul weather gear. The stainless steel sink is set into a counter and there is a mirror above. The integral shower is handy to the aft cabin on the opposite side of the companionway. There is also internal access to the garage from this head.
