Ok, I guess I wasn't clear. Only interested in using an arm winch setup at this time. I'm familiar with servo city winches, not asking about them in this thread. Only wondering what others are using for sail servos, for arm winch setups in boats with over 1000 sq inches of sail area. I love RMG winches, and have rigged several boats with them.

It looks like the original sheeting design is one-to-one, which requires a longer winch arm inside the boat and that limits servo layout. KIWI has gone with a double through system where the sheet is fixed to the hull and runs through a block on the end of the winch arm. That is why is arm is a lot shorter than yours.

A sail winch servo will continuously rotate in one direction when the channel control is off center and will not run when the channel control is centered (1500uS pulse to the servo). Ivan. That is not how my winch servo works. It rotates like 3.5 time when travelling from end point to the other; especially when slammed one end to the other.

How beneficial is a winch servo compared to a standard servo with a long arm? Is the Hitec 3.5 turn winch servo a good one? My father has an RC sailboat and is currently using a standard servo for the sail. It seems the servo does not have enough power to pull the sail in while sailing in a strong-ish wind.
